I might just see you then! I plan to take my group to TSM straight away as well. Great minds think alike!
Exactly what i did last week. Almost everyone goes to SDD on rope drop and we already had FP for 9:00.
Got on TSMM (2nd car), high score of the day, then off to RotR, back to SDD and AS2, all before 10am

I can only imagine all the cries of excitement and groans and screams of anguish that happen just inside DHS every morning at 8:01 AM.

I am leaning more towards leaving the park after entering and confirming I am in. The app does not have any geo location requirement, so why not grab breakfast somewhere in peace and try to get the BG from there. I think it will be a lot less stressful this way. Forgoing rope drop to anything else of course. Also, still staying close to the park in case getting one of those early BGs.

Also, can stake out all the places with good cellular data this way, and not walking into the unknown of spotty data connection.

Anyone done this with success?

Yes people have reported leaving and being able to join. The only thing is that if you encounter an issue with the app, you wouldn't be able to get to a GET right away

It can get awkward. We got quite chatty with the family beside us last week, not so much after 8. We got BG 5 and they got BG78. Fortunately it was a good day, so they would have ridden. Be aware of how loud you celebrate, although it is hard if you get a good result.

It’s actually surprisingly quiet. People either know not to celebrate or are so focused on their group that they don’t cheer.
Plenty of videos prove otherwise, maybe the day you went people were quieter after opening. Before opening it does get very quiet

We tried the first time on Monday and somehow my son didn’t register as being “in the park” (looking back he said he didn’t think the Mickey turned green on entry at turnstiles. He’s 15 so who even knows. paying attention is not his strength.) We did everything right (well, apparently everything BUT that!).

We did go to guest services to see if there was anything they could do (I was extra pleasant and just explained what happened offering a screen shot and my son standing right next to me IN THE PARK! but they said there was nothing they could do to get us in a BG. But they did offer us FP for any other ride we’d like so we chose SDD (which was also super fun!)

Just a tip: make sure your teenagers pay attention! And also they said if that ever happens again, you should just get the BG for the people that are showing up IN the park at that moment and then go to guest services and they can add the other person if it’sa legit glitch.
What about with my AP- is there anyway to see that I’m in? I guess making sure the Mickey turns green, but I’m traveling solo, so can’t just add another person.

Here's another lesson we should emphasize, based on the experiences of the "boots on the ground" from our friends on this board. Make sure you see those Mickey heads turn green (or pink!) on the tapstiles, especially for anyone who is going to be trying for a boarding pass!! Those precious seconds of getting the "uh oh, someone is not in the park" message could be the difference of getting a BG or not. With the benefit of this information, I'm going to make sure I physically see my kids and DH tap through. I think they know this, but there's too much going on with that many people entering that I don't want to chance it.

This is the first chance I got to practice at exactly 8:00 in quite a while. At 8:00 I was able to get through using my status, but when I backed out and went back in I got the red not admitting new guests message twice. I actually had to do my first force close of the app, and if was backups when I got back in and back through again.

Practice session at home was rough. Couldn’t even get the sign in to work at 7.55. Eventually got it to sign in by going on home WiFi. Then, had multiple red pop ups saying not admitting new guests, to refresh and then get a group. All of party also didn’t show up in my app til 8:01.

I think the frustrating part is the inconsistency, as I’ve practiced multiple times at home to prep for my trip next week. I feel like it’s all a crapshoot at this week and will depend solely on how well the app is working for me the morning we go.
