Why? MMRR will help disperse RD crowds even more between that, SDD, and MFSR. But I don't see a connection between that opening and Rise needing FP.

If I enter the park before opening and am through the turnstiles, I am either going to MMRR (for the opening phase) or MFSR. MMRR being the newest attraction next month should draw the most attention. So since a BG can be had from anywhere, I think a majority of the RotR crowd will beeline it to the MMRR SB queue once through the turnstiles. If you FP RotR just before MMRR opens, now guests have a hard choice between, arguably, the top 2 attractions. Am I missing something or is my logic off?

A good number will still go to Toy Story Land. Those with an early boarding group may have to decide whether to abandon their standby line regardless of where they go, but most really won't need to since you have 2 hours to get to RotR once your group is called.

One good thing about all of this is there are opportunities for lots of different agendas. There will be the MMRR crowd (which will likely be big, as you suggest), the TSL crowd, the MFSR crowd, the Sunset Blvd crowd, the crowd that just sits back and watches it all, and the crowd that immediately heads back to their resort or to another park. Each appeals to different demographics and park touring strategies. Arguably it’ll provide among the most diverse set of “popular” rope drop options than the other parks at the moment.

I have a little over a month till it’s my turn but have been “practicing” from home when I can/remember. This morning I tried something different. I timed how long it usually takes for my app to start up yesterday and saw it about 25 seconds from the castle until I get to the home screen. Today I opened my app at 7:59:35am. Of course those seconds seem to last an eternity but when it usually goes to the home screen I got the dreaded circle of doom. Waited a few seconds and decided to kill the app and start fresh. It opened 25 seconds later to hit find out more and the join button was red but was in back up groups already. Other days I had the app open already about 5 minutes to the opening of the park and right on the dot of park opening hit find out more to be able to join on next screen. This is so frustrating and I am at home. Cannot think what it feels like to be doing it real time! Maybe the kinks in the app with work themselves out over time but not high hopes with that

Have people been using multiple phones to try to get a ROTR boarding group? I'm the only one in my family with an MDE account and have been managing all of it, but my husband wants to be able to try to help get a boarding group. Can he use my account, and we both try on the same account at the same time, or is there a way to have his own account that's linked up to everything that's already in my account? So complicated... ha.

Just wanna my experience today.

7:15 Left from hotel in Celebration.
7:28 Arrived at DHS Parking Lot
7:40 Went thru Bag check (right lane). 10 people ahead
7:46 Finger scan access and in the park

Went to wait in the Star Wars area (lots of people waiting there).

iPhone 6S with a Lycamobile SIM card, WiFi Off. Atomic Watch to control countdown. Switched to MDE app at 7:59:40. App took like 20 secs to open. Clicked on Find out more, chose all family members, join BG and voila ..... BG 20 !!

8:10 Headed to MFSR queue (90 mins)
9:30 Boarded MFSR
9:45 Access to RoTR
10:15 Game over

This could not been possible without all the help and input from previous users.

IME, Park arrival, WiFi Off, launching app 20 secs before (runs slowly these days) were key factors. Lady in front got BG83 by doing the same 8:00am sharp.

Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Has anyone tried having a friend not at WDW try to get them a boarding group? I've gotten a few friends FPs while they were on vacation.

Question: a lot of people say to turn off your Wi-Fi. Does this mean actually turning off your Wi-Fi from your Settings on your phone? Or is it OK to leave it on but just not connect to the Disney Wi-Fi?

Yes, countless people have and continue to do it on a daily basis (I personally suspect the practice is rampant). Help from a friend can be a good option to mitigate connection or app issues in the park.

I actually turned mine off in settings. Disney WiFi has consistently been not so great for me over the years. We left the WiFi on on my kids phones. I got the BG, but there’s no way to know if WiFi has anything to do with that. I’m also the one who follows Disney and knows how to do all of this stuff lol!

Means not to access MDE thru a WiFi connection. Doing it thru a data connection probable makes it run smoother.

I personally turn it off completely. Forgetting the Disney WiFi network would work too, but more of a hassle to then have to re-join later.

I’ve found that once we connect a device to Disney’s WiFi it will then auto connect when we use it. Oddly enough not all of the time, but randomly, I assume that’s due to how good the signal is and how many others are using it at any given time. I know the auto connect is how it is supposed to work, but the inconsistency isn’t. So I just turn it off if I am having problems or if I specifically don’t want to use WiFi, like I did in this case the morning we were getting BGs. Then I KNOW the WiFi isn’t going to be trying to connect and give me any issues. I’ve typically found Verizon to be much better than WiFi for anything at Disney, and we have unlimited data, so I usually just use cellular.
