Wow, thanks to all who have had a hand in creating and maintaining The Chart. What a valuable resource it is for those of us planning upcoming trips.

The new thing that struck me is how fast the Backup Boarding Groups have gone since the 8am openings started. Hard for me to believe that Presidents' Week will stick with 8am (rather than 7am) unless the week isn't predicted to be as busy this year as in past years.

Report from yesterday:

Brrr. It was cold, 45 degrees felt like 30’s

Left 6:40 am walked via Boardwalk
6:58 got through security
7:09 entered park
7:15 In line for Toy Story Land
7:59 Got BG 26 by refreshing phone starting at 7:55 AM (do the Swipe down refresh). I also had my iPad and my Dad doing it as a backup.
8:00 entered TSM standby (20 mins)
9:21 our BG called, 2 hour return time
We were on STours standby, 40 minute wait
9:54 enter queue
10:24 (spoiler edit) started experience
10:43 off

Sidenote: we had an early morning FP to Slinky but we always planned to do immediate walk on to TSM. They announced Slinky was down I’d say around 7:30 am and some people got out of TS Land line.

No spoilers: it was amazing!

I want to do it again with the whole family before we leave on Wednesday but tough to get kiddos (8 and 5) and wife out the door that early.

EDIT: thanks to all of you who came before me and posted the process and the charts! You made this all so much easier!

Just to confirm, you were able to join a BG before it turned actually to 8am?

Got in from home on both ipad and iphone. Already in app. Buttons were lit on both right at 8. Went to backups at about 45 seconds I would guess.

Practicing from home. (Samsung S9, no recent updates, no newer version of app available) First time this happened. I got red "join boarding group" button at 8, selected my party and received a message that new guests were not allowed to join boarding groups. Backed up, tried linking through "my status", selected party, same message. Closed and reopened app at 8:01 and process went through as normal to join back up boarding group to the "not in park" stage.

Checking from home, no more backups at 8:14, they were still there about 5-7 minutes ago.
Says groups 3-10 are loading, so looks like an on-time start :)

Strange happenings.....I’m at a swim meet at MIT. At 8:01 I finally got the red buttons after refreshing a few. Went to backup groups at 8:02. I was on iPhone 11 but it may have been the university WiFi, not my Verizon. I still would have gotten a BG but the timing was off. We arrive in 6 days and feel ready for the morning excitement thanks to everyone posting about strategies and updates!!!!

My test at home this morning did not go the same or as well as my last few have gone over the last few weeks. I pushed “Show More” right at 8, then “My Status”, but the butron there wasn’t active either. I tried a couple of refreshes (both back button and pull down) with no luck, and eventually just closed the app and restarted to get the red button. The whole process took about 45 seconds instead of the usual 10-15. If I had been in the park I would have had a high backup number at best.

Another reminder that sometimes the Disney app gods have different plans than we do.

ETA: I have not updated to the latest version of the app.

I’ve done the 8 am test 3 days in a row with both my phones and have gotten 3 different results. First time, the iPhone was ready to board right at 8am while android didn’t turn red until BU groups. Second day, both were ready to go right away. Today, day 3, iPhone didn’t work until BU groups while Android was ready to go right away. Crazy phones! Oh well, still have 3 months before I get there.

Good luck and mtfbwy to all with boarding groups today!

This was the first weekend I really "practiced" from home (our trip isn't until May). I had done it once randomly recently and got in within five seconds so I figured it was no big deal. Yesterday took me 30 seconds and today took me just over a minute (back button refresh - I didn't try the pull down method). It takes so much longer to load the app fresh with the latest update that I haven't given that method a try. Hopefully things go better when I actually need it to.

Yeah, we have iPhone 8's, though I think we'll be upgrading before the trip so a lot of this data is probably irrelevant for my purposes!

Yeah, so 7 days in a row of 61 Regular Boarding Groups.

That's pretty much the most (only) consistent thing we've seen in this process in its 54 days of existence so far.

BTW, I continue to think we all will see slightly different times depending on our phones, servers, source of clock info, etc. Mine didn't turn red today until 8:00:15 and closed right around 8:01:15. Others obviously saw slightly different timing in their testing. I think that's just the nature of the beast.
