Thank you so much for this detailed post! It has been added to Discount District as Data Points for Safeway/Albertsons/Vons. If anything should change or you wish to add more please edit your original post. Many thanks and kudos for a job well done!

I used the 10X Rewards offered by Safeway/Albertsons/Vons last December to buy Disney gift cards. I have learned a lot about the program since then, which I thought I would share so others could avoid my mistakes. My mistake was that I had too many Rewards to use in an efficient manner only for grocery rewards. Here’s what I learned:

We love flying out to Colorado for an annual ski trip and stay at a resort with a full kitchen. Prior to leaving I check out the deals at Safeway and King Soopers (Kroger). We signed up for a Safeway card years ago and I never travel without my coupon binder. Love saving $$ even while on vacation!

Are you getting any good deals on Happy Guys cards lately? Thanks.

Pretty much the deals for happy gift cards only occur in November and December. I don't remember seeing any happy card deals from January thru November of last year. And by deals, I am talking about discounted gift cards. Various grocery stores do offer fuel points bonuses throughout the year, but the value of those vary greatly.

So it works with a single $500 card? That would make everything so much easier! I haven't dared take the risk yet.
Yes, I buy a single $500 card and I get 10 $5 mperks rewards within 2 hours. The rewards do not need to be used on a single transaction. One thing you need to be careful of is you are prompted for "Do you want to use a $5 mperks reward" when you "enter" the next $5 window. They will "take" the entire $5 reward and not give you credit for the unused portion. If you bought a $16 item you would be asked 4 times "do you want..." if you then added another $5 item, you would be asked again. If you said yes and completed the order, your $21 purchase would be "free", but you would has lost $25 in mperks. If you said no to the last question, they actually ask you it 6 times. Once for each remaining reward.

Awesome!

And yes I got dinged the first time clicking too fast. Only had $1-2 left owing but already clicked yes so used up a $5 reward :(

I like to be able to see past offers so I can compare current offers and decide if it’s a good, great or just ok deal.
I'd say keep them up but maybe highlight it some home as expired so people know. Maybe say for comparison only or something similar.
I like the idea of a historical record of the really good expired deals so we can watch out for them again in the future.

Thanks for hosting this thread, but just curious, why are there so many deals on Non-Disney GC? This was supposed to be a thread for Disney GC. Now, it seems to be diluted and much harder to get useful information.

Please read this Post #314 Thanks!

I read it, but respectfully disagree with it. There are many sources for "general discounts", but hardly any that are dedicated to getting discounts for Disney Gift Cards. If you are concerned that people may not have the same credit cards, well there are many people that aren't shopping in the same stores or for the same general items. Thus, you would have just as many people (if not more) receiving non-relevant information. I will say, I used to visit this site often, but now I find myself viewing it less and less often with the new format.

You have the right to that opinion. I would say the majority of people here enjoy the current thread though.

Well, yeah, because it's a self-selecting group. I don't get why there couldn't be a thread for everything else and a thread for Disney GC. There was already a perfectly good thread for Disney GC. Instead of leaving it up, or starting a new one with the same format, it was locked and shut down. If this current format is more popular, it would eventually have had much more posts (and the disney gc only thread would have naturally died down). This is not a knock on the effort that @FoxC63 has put into this thread.

I thank you for posting because it does matter, it's the second time this topic has been brought up and I have taken note. You and @veginaz feel the same so let's figure it out.

In your opinion what exactly constitutes a Disney Gift Card Deal? Seriously, let's take a step back and think about it. Are you only interested in One Stop Shop Deals?

Examples of One Stop Shop Deals:
Kroger: 4x fuel points Good on Disney GC's
Chase Bank of America: 10% off at Staples, Good on Disney GC's
BJ'S: January ONLY Tier Savings on Disney GC's

What about Two Step Deals?

Examples of Two Step Deals:
Various Locations: Happy Gift Cards - YMMV
Kroger: Visa/MC Gift Cards
Granted, they're not specifically Disney. It's a two step process, so does that count?

Finally we come to the Multiple Step & Process Deals shared by @bbsearchlight , copied from Post #282 in its entirety.

For those of you who are new, here is an example of how stacking deals can get you a really good discount:

1) In early November, Stop & Shop had Happy gift cards at $10 off with a digital coupon. However, they also had a few days where it also stacked with $20 off your next shopping order when buying a $100 gift card. I used a credit card that gets 5% back. I was able to get the offer 8 times. Total Savings = 34.5%.

2) I then used the happy gift cards to buy Amazon gift cards at BBB when they had a $15 rebate for buying $100 in gift cards. I sent the rebate to 8 different family members addresses. (For a few of them I was also able to stack with ebates in store cash back but I won't count that since I was only able to get it on 2 of the purchases.) Total savings now 34.5% + 15% = 49.5%.

3) I used the Amazon gift cards in conjunction with Amazon Amex promotion of 20% off $250 purchase. I was able to use the offer on 3 Amazon accounts. Used it to buy Staples gift cards. Total Savings 34.5% + 15% + 20% = 69.5%.

Deals like these require a lot of planning and willing to hold on to gift cards for a while. But they can end up in large savings.

Granted, @bbsearchlight saved a lot of money for Staple GC's, maybe she wanted to resell them to buy Disney gift cards, she certainly has that option and then some! Best deal I've ever seen but this might not be for you, I don't know.

Again in your opinion, what exactly constitutes a Disney Gift Card Deal? What DGC offers are you specifically looking for? I'm not seeing a whole lot out there, anyone else? Are you and @veginaz seeing offers I haven't posted? If so, why not just simply post them and be part of the community.

Would it be helpful if I italicized or put the offer in bold maybe used a different color for DISNEY ONLY ? Seriously, how can I make your lives easier?

I think the reason that a lot of people are confused/upset is if you go back to the old thread, the reason given for moving to the new thread was
"There's a lot of content in this thread that is plain dead."

But all of a sudden the new thread is totally different throwing in deals for all types of gift cards. Why can't we have 2 separate threads, one specifically for Disney gift cards which is what the old thread was for?

I have to admit that I am one of those that is scrolling the first page and thinking, "I don't care about fuel rewards and I don't even have a Kroger or Meijer or Publix near me, what is the absolute best deal on Disney Gift Cards right now." And you have to kind of read through the various things to figure that out. Maybe the very first post on this thread should be the best current offers on simply buying Disney Gift cards. And maybe broken down by how much you are looking for. Because some of the offers have limits. So if I am looking for $3,000 in gift cards some of the offers would not be the best. It would be more work, but maybe someone would find fun in doing that.
