News Round Up 2020

Is this season actually finishing the story reels or is it new stuff?

this is newly created material but continuing what already exists and is supposed to be the capper on that storyline(s)

Time to start watching the last few seasons to get back in the swing of things.

Also, is it just me or does everyone else think that Disney doesn't quite realize how popular Ahsoka is?

I think they do - she was one of the voices the Rey hears in the last movie .... I would be shocked if they don't do a live action either movie or Disney+ show of Ahsoka

I just think she doesn't fit in what they are trying to do. She's not a mainline story character since there is no mention of her in the prequels. If you don't watch Clone Wars, she makes no sense just having her appear. Kind of like having Darth Maul reappear at the end of Solo. It just seems awkward for those who are casual fans of just the movies. Especially since an Annakin padawan is a massive thing to have skipped over in III.

So it's a bit messy with her. My daughter loves her, I think she's great. Her book is a solid young adult book. But... is this the time period Disney is going to focus on? Or are they moving on from the whole mainline era? If so, moving on from Ahsoka makes sense, regardless of her popularity among the Clone Wars/Rebels fans.

Yep, I think they can do a feature film or Disney+ movie with her and the casual viewer won't need to know back story. I can see them throwing in a few hints to her background, but I think it wouldn't be necessary to know her background.

I hope this doesn't get extended through our trip. It'll be hard enough to get to the park for a 9am opening, a 7am opening would be torture. I am NOT a morning person.

Our trip in March is still all 9 AM but I’m fully expecting 7. I think unless something changes with regards to RotR’s operations it’s a pretty good bet that they slowly change all the days as we approach them.

Its going to be awful dragging my family for the 7 AM opening, but I’d be scared what crowds would look like for a manageable time like 9.

Just watched Canada Far and Wide. I can't say it with enough emphasis, I miss Marty. This new cut is so boring and dry. There is no humor and much of it looks like it was just lifted from the old film. This is a disappointment all around. It feels cheap and like it was done only to push Martin Short out of it. Sad...

Yeah we thought it pretty much looked like a mashup of instagram pics set to video. Pretty, but very little substance.

We also weren’t impressed with the Beauty and the Beast sing along. Horrible cartooning, and I’m sorry but sing along movies are just uncomfortable (and I sing in a choir weekly!) Now, the clean up of Impressions was BEAUTIFUL! Much crisper and gorgeous color. I hope they add longer hours back for that. It was wonderful to see it given new life and the audience was packed. They handed out posters at the end too.

Awesome planet was just ok, another very “pretty instagram style pictures” type film. It lacked the more educational tidbits of the Circle of Life and just made a simple case against climate change without a whole lot of ideas to do. (It boiled down to...here’s a lot of pictures to show the Earth is pretty, you should save it or these ugly things can happen. End scene)

True. I could also see them throwing up a trial balloon with Kenobi series. It takes place between 3 and 4, which is prime Ahsoka time with her Rebels timeline and the end of the book.

I also think it's more likely to happen the more decision making power Dave Filoni gets. Ahsoka is his baby but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets creative control to do his own projects at some point, what with the success of the Mandalorian. And I know that is technically Favreau's project, but Filoni is a big part of it and has already directed 2 episodes.

What is great about the 7 AM time is that its a great opportunity to start early and do a midday nap without missing much. The boarding group thing allows you to kind of know where they are at so when you go nap, no big deal as long as you time it right. It led to a very relaxing day for me and my boyfriend.

EDIT: And I am saying that as someone who is by all accounts not a morning person, and barely a night owl, mostly just sleepy.

The ending of Mandalorian + how much I liked Rebels + the new Clone Wars episodes made me go back and start watching Clone Wars - I'm even going in official Star Wars order. So far after watching 4-5 episodes and the movie my initial opinion is "not good" but I hear it gets better. Gonna try to muddle through to get to the better stuff.

I am totally into the "early in the park - take a nap - close down Jellyrolls" park method nowadays.

When DH and I left the kids behind in October, I thought the 6/7 AM openings were the greatest thing ever. It bought us so much time. Totally agree it made things very relaxing.

My kids are not nappers, I think it's just going to make them jerks lol. But oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do!

The first 2 seasons aren’t great, much more of a kids show. 3 is when it starts getting good. And 4 onward is when it hits full stride.

It was rough. Getting up that early even impacted my ride experience. I was so exhausted, I could barely enjoy it. 5:40 alarms come early.

Yes definitely slog through it. Watch some sort of season recap if you need to for the first couple seasons.

The animation and the story lines in the latter seasons are breathtaking and heartbreaking.

I tried Clone Wars about a year ago and could not get into them. Now I'm doing a complete "canon" run through and on Clone Wars now, watching in chronological order. They do get better and the story becomes more cohesive. One mistake I think I made before was just having them on "in the background" (on my TV) while working on my computer, this time I'm actually paying attention and it's gone a lot better. lol

This 100%. I almost gave up around the middle/end of season 2, but stuck with it. Season 3 turned it around in convinced me to keep watching. Seasons 4+ were great for the most part, with only a few arcs that didn't work totally for me. And yes, Ahsoka's story through out is just amazing, hope to see more of her in the future (outside of season 7 and rebels).
