We are staying at the Coronado and we got in the car around 6:23, though we made it into the park with only a few minutes to spare. I think today was an exception because apparently the touchpads were down, so a giant crowd built up at the entrance as they were manually scanning everyone in. I’m assuming that doesn’t happen frequently.
We are staying at CSR in 2.5 weeks, were there any early buses leaving for the parks?

We're staying offsite near Disney Springs and I'm hoping to be in the car by 6:10, hoping to get there by 6:20 (google maps says 10 minute drive), then park and walk to bag check at 6:30 and in the gates by 6:45. Now, knowing my neurotic self, I'll be pacing around our resort room in the morning and shooing my family out the door before 6:00. But we'll see. I'm not planning to RD either SDD or MFSR. I plan to hit RnRC and TOT first thing, so I don't think we need to be there super early to be able to do that with shorter waits.
Just my opinion buy your timing seems extremely tight and not leaving much room for error, delays, traffic, etc. I'd add a 15 min buffer if not longer. I'd rather be 15 mins early then 1 min late when it comes to getting a BG.

Two bad start days in a row. Now starting to get nervous for my trip this weekend. Curious if this is just going to be the normal for this ride for the foreseeable future where you can expect at least a few periods of downtime every day. Theme Park designers are going to have to figure out as they push the envelope further where’s the balance between creating unique rides and creating something that can run relatively reliably.

More than likely its going to have downtime at some point in a day but I don't think that is any different than most rides. Just about every ride goes down at some point during the day. Check the app and Pirates, Pooh, Figment, Slinky Dog, Dinosaur, and Everest are down right now. And this is not a Disney thing, sometimes rides just don't want to work properly. There are days at Cedar Point that Steel Vengeance doesn't operate at all for the day.

That said, a 7 hour delayed opening is bad. Having it go down for an hour during the day is one thing but going down several times for long periods is another.

Arriving 6:30a is fine (maybe pad some extra travel time to make sure your inside HS by 7a). Guests who want to rope drop rides arrive earlier, but 6:30a is fine for BG/RoR.

Any busy days/weeks might continue to be harder with BGs running out in a few minutes. Even so, a lower number back-up BG has a good shot. MMRR is the big uncertainty, it'll likely change touring strategy to some extent but nobody knows what's planned yet.

If you're going for a week and already planned 2 mornings at HS, I think things will work fine for you.
ETA: Forgot to mention... Yeah, I'd be frustrated too trying to plan at this point for March or April.
thanks, have not made FP+ yet but right now am leaving the possibility of starting 3 days at DHS (we have hoppers) we are traveling Tues-Tuesday which leaves us Sunday and Monday at the end of our trip where crowds would be lower I think; but might need those days for SDD and FOP.

Well DHS’s two headliners are both having not so great mornings. Slinky hasn’t opened at all yet and ROTR was open for like 20 minutes before breaking down again.
Yeah we had 9:05 slink fastpass but haven’t used it yet. And the ROTR went down right when we got called back, so I’m hoping things start cooperating soon

I haven't checked this board for about 48 hours. I seriously felt I needed a break and that worrying so much about ROTR was starting to spoil my vacation anticipation. And honestly, the break has been good. But, what in the world is happening? BGs gone in 1 minute on Monday and Tuesday? Ride not opening until 2:10 p.m.? I feel like the teacher who had to be out for a couple of days and left her classroom to a sub, only to come back to chaos, LOL. Thankfully the break from this thread must have done me well, because this new data isn't phasing me. I have always said it, but now truly believe it, the overall enjoyment of our vacation is way more important than this one ride.

Thanks for all of the continued reports and data, though. It really does help to keep things in perspective!

This is nothing new. Were you around for the opening of Test Track?

And despite the late start, they still got an impressive number of BG's thru yesterday.

Test Track? How about July 17, 1955? The opening day of Disney Land. Read about that! Peter Pan and Dumbo weren't working. The asphalt melted trapping high heels. Drinking fountains didn't work. Or, read about the trials with the monorail. It caught on fire, several times early on.

I am amazed that RotR has not had a fatal error, requiring days, weeks or even months of shut down, while they wait on the critical part to be shipped from China.

Thank goodness the Imagineers keep pushing that envelope.

I would think the glitchiness of today and yesterday might have something to do with the very cold weather. Milder temps are on the way, so here’s hoping they bring more consistency

How many people typically visit Hollywood Studios in a day? 30,000? If group size is 100 (just a guess) they are pushing 10,000 to 12,000 on the ride a day so at best half the visitors get to ride? Maybe a little more than half during slow times? Sorry, trying to convince myself I have a slight chance of getting on this ride since we won't get there until 9:30 :-). It looks like backup groups have lasted until 10:00 a few times (not the holiday times obviously). Then of course that doesn't guarantee those late backup groups will actually get called but there has been a few days where they made it through them. I'm really curious what we see next week. Our park day is going to be February 8. Just a single day ticket and we can't move it.

3 mornings should work out well and give you a lot of flexibility to plan around both RoR/MMRR. Hoppers are such a big help here. And now we can take Skyliner between HS/EP, perfect for Festival season! MTFBWY :yoda:

You're cutting it close. Line to pay parking. A couple of long red lights. Wrong slow security line or tapstyle. I'd be on the road by 6a

Headed to WDW next week. Just noticed that virtually all resort hotels are sold out and HS hours just got pushed to 7am. Do you think my best chances of getting to HS from PO Riverside is reserving uber at 5:30am?

Woke up at 5:30 today and headed to the bus stop at about 5:55. 4 buses showed up at 6:10. Through security and waiting to tap in by 6:28. Using iPads to enter took a while but we got through and camped out by the stroller rental around 6:45. All three of us had our phones ready to go but I got in first with BG 38. Waited almost 20 min for a bus back to Pop. We are now using our rest day to wait to get called back.

I'll preface by saying I haven't ridden RotR so have not idea if some of the ride is outside. (Not asking for this information as I know that this is a no spoiler thread.)

Only saying this because the temps FL has been enduring these past few days really should not affect an indoor ride. Rides that are built inside are built in buildings that are climate controlled. I'd be really surprised if the challenges RotR is facing are weather related. While these temps are low for FL, they are not unheard of so I would think the RotR structure would have been built with these temps in consideration as well as the melt-your-face-off hot temps of the summer.

Only saying this as a Canadian who rarely faces challenges to structures until temperatures reach numbers much, much lower than what FL has had this week.

The hostess at Mama Melrose told us expedition Everest has to run an extra hour on cold days. Seven hours yesterday for Rise of the Resistance seems excessive.
