Does anyone have experience with a boarding group and DAS? We talked to a CM (not at the entrance) and she said they aren’t loading anyone. But we don’t want to lose our spot since our final time to be there is 11:27.
I read in the DAS thread that once your BG is called, you can tell them you have DAS and they'll send you through the FP line or issue a return time for the FP line.

In 8 years on the DIS boards, this is my all time favorite thread. Thank you so much to everyone posting their experiences. I've never cheered for so many people I have never met before!! Great job SouthFayetteFan!!
I feel like it’s a reality show that I follow all day - everyday! Lol

I just can’t wait to hear what happens next - all of the excitement and hardships...strategies, downtime... it’s captivating!

If driving how much time to allot to getting through the gates, parking, etc? Just trying to make the best plan of when to leave Bonnet Creek. Of course once I know our hours will get changed for the 3rd. Lol

Great thread! Thanks for all the info. I've followed along, but admittedly have not read every post...but a lot of them. I "practiced" from home this morning. I think it went well - I seemed to get to the "are you in the park" page pretty quickly. I started my app right as my phone turned to 7 am. Questions:

- do you open the app right at 7? Or should it already be open and you hit "find out more" right at 7?
- once in the park, does it matter where in the park you are? My assumption would be we would not go to SWGE right away - so can we be headed towards ToT, and try from there at 7?
- We will plan to get to the park between 6:00 and 6:15 - I assume that is sufficient to be in the park before 7?

Thank you.

We are staying at the Coronado and we got in the car around 6:23, though we made it into the park with only a few minutes to spare. I think today was an exception because apparently the touchpads were down, so a giant crowd built up at the entrance as they were manually scanning everyone in. I’m assuming that doesn’t happen frequently.

Two bad start days in a row. Now starting to get nervous for my trip this weekend. Curious if this is just going to be the normal for this ride for the foreseeable future where you can expect at least a few periods of downtime every day. Theme Park designers are going to have to figure out as they push the envelope further where’s the balance between creating unique rides and creating something that can run relatively reliably.
This is nothing new. Were you around for the opening of Test Track?

And despite the late start, they still got an impressive number of BG's thru yesterday.

Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. My 5 year old is normally an early riser, but it's probably going to be a long day for us so trying to maximize his amount of sleep so I'm not dealing with a cranky kiddo! Haha

They will send you up the fp line when you check in. I went by at 9:40 and they had just gone down, said we could return any time before the end of the day if our group has already been called and it would be honored

Just catching up after a birthday this week and taking care of the parentals (one with heart surgery, the other with a broken wrist. oy!) I can finally say it's almost our turn!!

It sounds like the non skyliner hotel guests are having better luck with the buses than the skyliner hotels guests.
How are the buses around 6 AM? We are going from POP on 1/26 and SSR on 1/31. Willing to take a Lyft, but would prefer a bus (I’ve heard sometimes the Lyft doesn’t show, or the driver misses a turn).

Don’t care about RD, but really want to get BG for RotR.

Suggestions?

We will see you bright and early at POP on 1/26! Our plan is to take a bus as we have a little that still needs a booster and would prefer to not hoof that around the park. Backup plan is uber/lyft if the buses just aren't moving. General guidance seems to be if you are there around 6:30am you should have enough time to get into the park. Our big problem is that we have to validate our tickets as that's our first park day and guidance has varied on when Guest Relations opens outside of the park. We don't get in until later the night before so I don't think Disney Springs is an option for us, but we'll just play it by ear and see how we feel once we arrive. We have a 2nd DHS day planned later in the week so won't be the end of the world if we miss out on BGs the first day.

Going to be at the park this weekend, coming from Pop Century. Is scheduling an Uber for 5:45, being there by 6am what everyone suggests as best? Or is arriving at 6:30 fine? Sorry to bother! This is a deep thread to dig through :)

Again, I think if you're planning for no bag line from pop, scheduling for 6am to arrive around 6:15-6:20 should be plenty of time for you. Going by the guidance from this thread (which I have shamefully read right from the beginning)

I know right! It's the first thing I check. I am not sure what to do with myself after this trip is over, lol

I feel ya! DH wants to keep it because the kids love SciFi. Well, there's always the "modify" the ADR to a later date to avoid penalty!
I didn't realize that was an option! Thanks - we will definitely modify to the next day if my kiddo can't hang!

The only positive of that 7 am time change for next week - I got SDD for 7 people. Not looking forward to getting 4 of those people out of the timeshare on time to make park opening. (Me, I'm an odd early bird on vacation, my mom & aunt, both used to getting up at 4 am - one for work, one because she's retired 😂) We have two HS days planned so that we have a backup. I have a long afternoon nap built into the plan because we have Star Wars Dessert Party too. Just need ROTR to cooperate.

There have been reports of waiting 20 minutes for an Uber. I think calling an Uber at 6:00 should get you to the park by 6:30, which will be fine.

We stayed flexible the morning we went from Pop. I wanted to take the bus, but when we got out front, there was a bus boarding and clearly too many people to fill that bus. I didn't want to see how long it would take to get another bus, so ordered an Uber, which it turns out was clearly stuck in traffic at DHS. So we ordered a Lyft which was also stuck in traffic at DHS. We just left them both active (and paid for both) but it was Uber that got there first. It still took longer than I hoped, and a second bus had not yet arrived. Thankfully they were doing a great job at security and the tapstiles and we got in very quickly after finally making it through the traffic backup ourselves.

We're staying offsite near Disney Springs and I'm hoping to be in the car by 6:10, hoping to get there by 6:20 (google maps says 10 minute drive), then park and walk to bag check at 6:30 and in the gates by 6:45. Now, knowing my neurotic self, I'll be pacing around our resort room in the morning and shooing my family out the door before 6:00. But we'll see. I'm not planning to RD either SDD or MFSR. I plan to hit RnRC and TOT first thing, so I don't think we need to be there super early to be able to do that with shorter waits.

For the weekend and unknown crowds I would keep your plan. There can be quite a line of uber/Lyft drop offs.
If you also want to be in front to ride other rides at opening you can have a bit of an advantage. We rode twice in Dec. both times we were there about 6am.did finger scans.I had a bag dh and ds no bag. We were able to ride other rides while waiting for our BG to be called.
We were very lucky we had no phone issues in getting bg 26 on dec 18th and then bg 10 on dec 23rd. Have fun and good luck!!! The ride is so worth it!!

Arriving 6:30a is fine (maybe pad some extra travel time to make sure your inside HS by 7a). Guests who want to rope drop rides arrive earlier, but 6:30a is fine for BG/RoR.

I have been practicing for our April trip, but that week is Spring vacation for some states in the Northeast and wondering how that will effect availability.
Also, we are within 60 days of MMRR opening and no FP+; will there be a VQ for that as well and we will need to try and get both?
Gives me a headache just thinking about it and the fact that all the best attractions at DHS are Tier I. :headache:
Any busy days/weeks might continue to be harder with BGs running out in a few minutes. Even so, a lower number back-up BG has a good shot. MMRR is the big uncertainty, it'll likely change touring strategy to some extent but nobody knows what's planned yet.

If you're going for a week and already planned 2 mornings at HS, I think things will work fine for you.
ETA: Forgot to mention... Yeah, I'd be frustrated too trying to plan at this point for March or April.

What time was it when you tried to get the first bus? Thanks!
