I commented on how while Morgan seems to be an ok add she is still white woman on the show. My post was removed because it "did not add to the conversation...that there was another thread about diversity," Forgive me but is it not important to call out the absurdity of telling someone that there is only one place to discuss the lack fo diversity on the show? That there is just one thread to discuss this? Only one place allowing the conversation. I don't get it. Why is it not a conversation being had? It is not that hard to find POC who can converse well and are knowledgeable about Disneyworld and who live in the area. I do not get it. Someone explain, please why after this many years, there still has been not a single POC in one of those seats. I love the show but it's just mind-boggling, and yes it does matter.

I don’t want to assume...what is your definition of a person of color?

I agree with you. I love The Dis for the most part but it is very (sometimes painfully) homogeneous. I’m not especially surprised by it though, given how homogeneous the Disney vlogger community is in general. Different perspectives would be appreciated and add to the shows.

Sadly we know how folks tend to respond to these kinds of critiques. A lot of fragility and defensiveness.

Morgan is not a new add, she came over from the CA half of the team. she's been under the DIS umbrella a while. so off the bat i think OP is misguided.

from what i understand, pete's team isn't hired to be entertainers or fulfill the needs of a podcast show. they are travel agents who do a show on the side, which is generally to promote the travel agency (among serving other purposes and promoting 'give kids the world')

if the purpose of the business was to entertain and vlog/cast about Disney maybe you'd have something here. if that were the case they'd perhaps have a responsibility to represent more points of view.

If you really want to have more POC doing Disney resorts/parks stuff support the POC that are out there doing vlogs and blogs now. Offer them honest criticisms on how they can improve their product and promote their sites/videos to your friends of all colors.

Sadly, the lack of diversity in the Disney community has always been a brushed-off issue. As an Hispanic Disney fan, sometimes you do feel out of place in this community. I have a hard time believing there has yet to be a highly qualified POC who has the chops to make it with the Did team. Let's be honest, compared to the early years of the podcast, there's no one in the current batch of the crew who is truly is a standout personality. It would be awesome to have someone on the show who doesn't just fit the "non-threatening" vibe. BTW, loved Negrolando's vlog on the matter.

Good post. But I would say that Charles was a standout. IMO he was and is still the best hire Pete made in years, maybe since Craig.

When Dustin left, Craig really stepped up. And while we all still miss Dustin, the show didn't skip a beat. The current show is still the best around, but Charles added something really unique that they (nor anyone else) has been able to re-capture since.

(Not that this really has anything to do with the bigger points of this discussion. I just always take advantage of an opportunity to talk about how much I miss Charles!)

The vlog on the matter was good, but if Rossell really wants to reach a wider audience he needs to drop the Negrolando channel name. You can be successful on youtube by appealing to niche audiences, but the audience Rossell seems to be chasing with that channel name is the niche of niche. People regardless of skin color want vacations to be about escapism. They are going to avoid a vlogger whose channel's name gives you the feeling you are going to be hit over the head with social issues with your vacation news and tips.

The best way to bring about more POC covering Disney is not to demand other sites hire them, but it is to support the ones already doing it on their own. Honestly critique their work. Let them know what attracts you to other vloggers and what you think those other bloggers are missing in their show content. Promote their shows to your friends online and off. They will make more money and have a bigger impact running their own site and channel, than they would ever do being a sidekick on someone else's show.

Are there no Dreams Unlimited agents of color who would be willing/able to appear on the podcasts/shows? Again, this is not intended as an attack or an accusation, I’m just curious.

The assumption that I’m not is weird.

Anyway, this is where I respectfully bow out. I said my peace, OP likely isn’t coming back, and I really don’t want to argue with folks. If you really want to understand where some of the frustration is coming from though, I’d encourage you to watch the YouTube video that was linked by PP.

I think the OP could take a lesson from the words of a great man who once walked among us:

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The irony.

This is an unfortunate take on the OPs very thoughtful critique. It is not about judging character it is recognizing that a reality in the US is that POC experience life differently than what I, a white man, do. Increasing racial/ethnic diversity on the show would be nothing but positive. We would all benefit from hearing from people who have different perspectives/experiences. We should all strive to make our businesses/organizations/social groups/friendship groups more reflective of our community's demographics.

In a perfect world with perfect places, everyone would be so happy because they could tell each other how and why they should do things and it would happen. Choose any person you want to work for someone else, and that's what they should do.
Funny, way back I used to listen occasionally to the audio show...way before the video show.. and fell in love with it! THEN! Ha! slowly found the 'gay thing' popping in here and there, then fact it was 'gay owned'!! OH MY! and wondered if it was really for me? Alas, thankfully, I was in love with the show and all the staff, and knew then I was an idiot for even thinking about it.
Maybe a lesson, sure was for me. You guys going back to audio may be the answer? Or maybe we should close our eyes when watching? How Ridiculous! How 'bought maybe a big thanks to Pete and John for finding the best crew they can and doing great at what they do. I think it's amazing how good they do it, and I know for sure it ain't easy.
Hope you are all having a magical day! :goodvibes

I feel like some want to shut down this conversation prematurely. I am not sure why they feel the need.
Hunter posted that video and I already have learned something. Why can’t we just have a conversation?

This thread has already brought out posters I don’t recognize since they post so rarely. I’d like to keep reading and learning from those who don’t speak up often.
