Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Today they had spots open until 8:45 AM and then they hit capacity. So, as long as you’re there before 8:30 the latest, you’ll be fine. I’ve been studying it the last few days.
8:30 is pushing it, and then you’re not riding until the evening. You can’t get a boarding group until after you’ve cleared security and tapped into the park. That could easily take 15 minutes. If you want to guarantee that you’re riding ROTR you should not shoot for getting there at 8:30.

We were at BCV and just wanted to try skyliner, so we went to DHS. The ride was fine. The line for wheelchair/EVC was about 12 people. My DH didn't come, so I have no idea how long it would have taken with his wheelchair. But what was surprising to me was I had trouble boarding. The movement through my step off. Like I needed sea legs. Same with getting off. I felt wobbly for a few steps.
Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles are dispatched about every 2 minutes, so if there were 12 wheelchairs in line, the wait would be about 25 minutes. You only count wheelchairs and ecv's, not people.

Unless you're talking rideshares or your own car I don't think it's ever faster to avoid the most direct method of Disney transportation. The buses are really not that bad.

The only exception is maybe the Friendship boats. I think you can beat those from DHS to an Epcot area resort using Skyliner/walking if the timing is right.

we took the Skyliner from Epcot to Pop Century one evening - I didn't time it but it did seem to be running efficiently
our car was at Epcot so we took the bus back so we didn't have to walk all the way back from International Gateway

The gondola did wobble a bit more than I expected when getting on and off.
Today was my first chance to ride. I found that stepping out at a deliberate angle as opposed to stepping out straight seemed to feel more secure to me. I was kind of angling in the direction of motion. Stepping between a moving and non moving surface took a little getting used to. I loved the ride though. I still don’t think I would ride in the summer, because my gondola on the last leg of my journey tonight didn’t have much airflow and was kind of stuffy, so I figure it would be bad for me in the summer. But for my winter trips, it’s great.

Are the vents open? I was guessing they might close some/all Of the vents this time of the year to keep them more comfortable.

I always have a little apprehension going from moving to ground, like on escalators and those moving tracks in airports. But...I'm excited to have an alternate mode of transport from POP.

Or the people in that gondola before them could have potentially closed them. They are guest controlled, which I found to be great!
They appeared to all be open but we were traveling with the wind which seemed to cut down on airflow. Traveling to Epcot we were traveling against the wind and there was a ton of airflow. I know wind is something that will always be luck of the draw but it does make a big difference in how the gondola feels.

Any idea if the skyliner will be running after the New Year's eve festivities at Epcot? I'm having a hard time finding the posted hours of operation.

Thanks in advance!

WDW is obviously expecting extended delays on the Skyliner so they have provided a dedicated concierge phone number to report missed dining reservations or FastPass+ selections.

I don't think they are expecting extended delays; there have been several < 30 min stops and people have complained that the speaker system they have in the cabins didn't function properly. This seems to be in response to those complaints, and it's a good one, I think.

Hi, not sure where to put this thread.

I am staying at BW. A few moments ago we saw 2 buses go through with Epcot on emblem. Then as we were leaving BW saw 3 buses in a row entering BW with Skyliner resorts on the emblem.
Skyliner was stopped briefly and then started working again, but didnt look like it was a long stop. Has anyone heard anything?

We talked with our Minnie Van driver back when were were there a little over a week ago. According to him short stops aren’t too uncommon because they have to put cars in and out for people that need the extra time to load ie wheelchairs. So that’s what you probably saw.

Other reason would be for some sort of inclinmeant weather (is high winds) but if it was brief I think it’s more likely a car being taken in or out.
