Just want to share something bizarre that happened to me with AA tonight. I logged into my account and noticed that my flights to/from Japan kept alternating airports. I was booked into/out of Narita and sometimes it would show I was flying into Haneda, but then I'd refresh and it would show I was flying into Narita but out of Haneda. I called AA and the rep told me that JAL was no longer doing the flights into/out of Narita and were only using Haneda. Which is fine, since I actually would've preferred to fly into Haneda in the first place since it's closer to Tokyo. So she tells me she can get it all reset correctly for me and I can choose my seats. Well, somehow the 1:30 pm flight on June 8 no longer had availbaility (still don't really understand this... but ok??) but the 1:45 AM flight did. So now we are flying out of JFK at 1:45 AM and getting to Tokyo at 4:45 AM June 9. Our flight out of Haneda back to NYC is the same time/date as before. Both are in first class and I was able to chose our seats in the first row of the plane, which is nice.
Anyways, I write this to say check our trips out frequently because I received NO NOTIFICATION of this at all via email! And I'm not the type to just zip past an email and ignore it or not check my spam. I 100% was not notified about this. So I will be obsessively checking my flights now!!
I guess the pros here are:
1. No longer need to pay for a hotel in NYC for the night of June 7 (we were flying in a day early). Now I'll just fly in that morning and then be at the airport around 11 pm for our flight lol.
2. We arrive 12 hours earlier to Tokyo on June 9.
3. Flying into an airport closer to Tokyo.
4. Still in first class there and back so can sleep on the 1:45 am flight.
Cons:
1. 1:45 AM flight time. Gross.
2. Maybe need to book another night at the Hyatt in Tokyo for June 8? Even though we won't actually be there until the morning of the 9th. I'd like to be able to go straight to the hotel and drop our luggage and shower/rest.
