Hahaha! If he hits a wall just chat Amex & they’ll send you a postage paid envelope to return to them for destruction.

It was so funny, he got out several types of pliers and other tools and took it apart layer by layer then cut up the layers. Yes, he definitely had fun. I had to laugh though when he texted me this morning to say what a difficult time he had scraping the ice off his windshield. Shoulda kept the card! Lol

I’m really excited to get my gold card. Before I applied I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use a 5/24 slot on it, but now that it’s a done deal, I’m glad to be getting it and thinking it might be another keeper card. I’m all read up on reddit and FT about using the airline credit, I just have to figure out the specific purchase I’ll get.

They'll post with your statement closing, not payment. Make sure you are looking at statement dates and not payment due dates.
Ok. Thank you. Yes. I'm looking at statement closing dates. So if I meet spend on 12/16 (the day after my statement closes), my SUB should post on 1/15 (the day my next statement closes)?

So what to do? Is it worth spending an extra 6k RR points x2 (11-12k total) to save on a 4 hour drive?

We'll be within a 4 hour drive to some family when we travel next July so was going to take advantage to visit. We rarely see hubby's sibling cuz of the distance and so while he's fine with that , it'd be rude to be so close and not see the nephews (not to mention the minor family drama of the "snub" when the gossip chain makes its way around to them).

Was thinking of flying in for our concert, driving to family and then leaving from their airport, but I forgot how ridiculous flights are between there and here. It's the same 2 hour, non-stop flight but costs nearly double most times.

Right now it's a difference of about 6k each ticket and I'll need 2. Can't decide if it's silly to drive that 4 hours back to the original airport or silly to spend that extra money.

Although now I wonder what other airports are around 4 hours or less away that might be cheaper... maybe see some new scenery if we're going to be driving :)
Well so far the other airports have suckier flights. They're around the same price as our original destination but there are no non-stops between them and home. So we'd be driving 3-4 hours to take a 5+ hours series of flights, instead of driving 4 hours for a 2 hour non stop.

Still looking but seems like I'm back to my original dilemma, do I pay an extra 6k RR per ticket for convenience? Plus potential one way fee on the car. I dislike driving but I'm also cheap so I can't tell which is sillier :) This is where hubby comes in usually but it's still a surprise (Christmas present) and I have a feeling his initial answer would be it's silly to make the visit anyway

It'll hit your SW account within a few days of 1/15. It doesn't transfer same day, but mine has been next day. Sometimes it's a day or two more and sometimes in January SW is slow to update your points due to new year change over maintenance. But you're mid month so hopefully the maintenance delay will be avoided, if it happens again.
Shorter answer is start looking for it 1/16.

@hulagirl - I want to say thank you for getting me to look at the Grand Wailea. Flights and hotel are now booked for spring break.

We had planned on spending spring break in Tahoe because my DD wanted to play in snow (and “all” her classmates are going), and I even had the Ritz Carlton booked; but after we got drenched with freezing rain at Disneyland over Thanksgiving, DW and I decided that was enough cold and wet for us this season. I don’t think DD will mind.
jealoussssss I wanted to book that but DH said he'd already been there......

Thanks. I just need it to post after 1/1 to count toward CP.

Honestly, I have no idea how good the fares are or how they compare to other times of the year. DW works for the school district, so our timeline is pretty strict for availability. Throw in the fact that DVC availability at Aulani is really tough in June because it's not our home resort, so July it is!

We're flying from Dallas to Honolulu and thought about other airlines, but we have so many SW points and a companion pass that it doesn't make sense. SW doesn't offer a non-stop option, so we have to fly to San Jose and change planes on the way there. That 11.5 hour trip will be rough, but free is free.

Coming back, we couldn't get a direct flight to Dallas, so we are flying to San Diego and staying 3 nights there before we head back home. None of us have ever been to Hawaii, so we are super excited. My brother-in-law and his family are meeting us there from UT, and it is their first trip to Hawaii too. Been reading trip reports like crazy to get some ideas about dining and stuff to see.
smart...next time I do Hawaii I'm planning on staying a day or three on west coast before heading home....

My southwest business cards annual fee posted last week. Best plan is to pay the current balance and then ask to have it closed? I’ve spent $139 on it and the $99 annual fee, so it won’t close with negative points. Or close it and then pay the balance so I don’t have to get the af refunded

For 5/24 have you counted the AU cards? You can either wait for the letter or you (well P2) can call to find out what the issue is. You can start with the general number (back of card) then decide if you want/need to call the recon line.

We are fine on 5/24 even with AU. His activity is:
SW Performance Biz - opened 10/19
SW Priority (AU) - upgraded from SW Premier 07/19
CSP (AU) - opened 09/19

Someone else mentioned total credit limit, but he's fine there, too (although I didn't even know that was A Thing). Maybe it is too many cards in too short a time? I'll have him call. It just takes a lot of coaching, LOL! Thanks!

Approved for the Hilton Aspire. No pop up!

I'm slightly regretting not jumping on the no-AF link a few weeks ago, but I won't dwell on it. I didn't need to be poking the RAT. I also didn't have Hilton plans in 2020, and now I do. This card pays for itself and then some.

Great vlog! I really enjoyed this one. Thank you for sharing it. If we ever do get to plan that trip to Japan I'll definitely be watching your videos again.

I'm still here! I was busy watching your video. It's not really all that late here, so I'm still up. :)
I think the next vlog should be the best one. Arashiyama was the prettiest place we went in Japan. If I went back to the Kyoto area it would be just to go there. Thanks for watching them! It’s so much fun to go back and watch. It’s a lot better than looking back at pictures. It’s just kind of a hassle to record your entire day.

I ended up going to bed right after I posted that lol

isn't it ridiculous? Our HOA payment site is so messed up, no one in my neighborhood has ever been able to get it set up for online payments anyway. At the moment I'm paying through Plastiq with Amex to try to keep Amex happy.

Agree!

Well, I'm here but it's because I'm at worrrrrrrrkkkkk. But it's Friday!
I’m just surprised companies still expect people to pay by a check. I guess it’s for people like my mom who just stopped using checks at the grocery store this year lol
