I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Our HOA fees our due and they want to charge a $8.95 fee to pay with a credit card. That seems a little ridiculous to me. I’m not sure if we should just pay it or what. We’re working on MSRs so it would help but it’s still a big fee

isn't it ridiculous? Our HOA payment site is so messed up, no one in my neighborhood has ever been able to get it set up for online payments anyway. At the moment I'm paying through Plastiq with Amex to try to keep Amex happy.

Mine charges a fee for CC and a fee for ACH (bill pay through bank), the only free option is bank debit or paper check and I'm not giving them that auto debit abilities. The Plastiq fee is less than their CC fee and I don't have to worry about mailing a check so I pay mine that way. I know I have checks somewhere and I don't always have stamps on hand.

Agree!

Where my late night peeps at??? I’m wide awake for some reason

Well, I'm here but it's because I'm at worrrrrrrrkkkkk. But it's Friday!

I didn't know that was an issue, I can't pass that test. Sounds like I need to take action before applying for my next SW card.?

I couldn't pass that test either but they still offered and approved me for a card with a green/black star offer. Now they have a green/black star offer for $600 for checking/savings accounts, but they've been mailing me those offers repeatedly. I believe there was a $900 offer out that I haven't seen yet, and I do have a 30k bundle I have to move around soon, so I'm holding out for the best offer.

Once again it appears I am going to reach my MSR ahead of schedule. Apparently I spend a lot more money than I thought I did....

Can someone remind me about timing for Amex cards? Might be time to pull the trigger on that Aspire...

That's a significant difference. I don't think I have seen that big of an adjustment before. The DVC boards have to be lit up over that. I'll have to stop in to see where they reallocated from. We for the most part go in late spring and the fall so we will probably feel it also.

Since other than grand villas and there are only 7 of those, BWV is almost all lock offs with the exception of a very few dedicated studios and one bedrooms in odd places, they are playing the game of reducing 2 bedroom costs and upping studios and 1 bedrooms. Since you basically can't get a 2 bedroom once all studios are gone, they are essentially forcing people to use up their points that would go further and as intended with the old system. I believe this change was fought successfully 2 years back and it was delayed to 2021. Not sure what the status of the fight is now. What it amounts to is increasing the overall points at BWV, although it is masked usage. I haven't been on the DVC boards to see if anyone is complaining right now - too busy with the grands and right now they are sleeping so I can 'think' and read for a few minutes. They will be up very shortly - surprised the youngest is not out here yet.

There have been several reallocations at BWV since I purchased in 2000. Non of them have benefited me. Reallocations at other resorts are more across the board because of dedicated rooms. Even at Poly with just 20 bungalows, it's a barely noticeable change, since the ratio of rooms is so great. A two bedroom at BWV is almost fictional.

...Have you not read the fireside chat on the SW CP on DISchurners? This saddens me 😔

🤣

OMG, other than the haha happy face this reminds me of our 2 but almost 3 year old! Her response to anything she is unhappy about is 'this saddens me' and 'you are making me angry'. Meanwhile, 3 almost 4 year old's favorites are 'oh, that's so beautiful" and 'so awesome!'.

I believe this is a direct result of watching too much Peppa Pig somewhere.

Where are you that it is Friday already? Still Thursday here in Maryland.....

Amex will approve 2 of their (Amex) credit cards in a rolling 90 day period. (This rule doesn’t apply to or count Amex charge cards.) I think you’re coming off of a Hilton Surpass and that’s your only Amex card? If so, you should be fine. Knock on wood you don’t get the pop up. Keeping up spend on your Amex card(s) should help to avoid the pop up.

DO NOT self-support from your Surpass to the Aspire. Even though Amex hasn’t yet come after self-supports on or to their co-branded cards (like the Hilton), I would not advise risking it because it’s clearly a practice Amex does not condone and may do something about in the future. If you do not have someone’s Amex support link to use, please consider using a fellow DISchurner’s link and make sure you’re getting the “best” 150k Hilton points/$4k MSR offer.

As you might know, the Aspire comes with a $250 airline incidental fee credit every calendar year (the same kind of credit found on the Amex Gold, Platinum, and Biz Plat). Right now is “triple dip” season, so if you go for the Aspire card in the next week to 10 days, you’ll have a $250 credit to use before the end of the year, which resets for another $250 credit starting 1/1/20, and a third $250 credit starting 1/1/21 before you’re billed a second AF. Essentially you’d get $750 in airline credits (not to mention 2x cardmember year $250 resort credits, Free Weekend Night Certificates, a 150k Hilton points SUB, Diamond status, etc.) on 1x $450 AF if you decide to cancel or downgrade the card after the second AF is billed. If you decide to keep the card, the Aspire’s benefits still more than pay for itself, especially if you have any plans to stay at a Hilton (or you can downgrade to a no-AF Hilton card and wait for an upgrade offer).

Unfortunately, as you may know, the Amex airline credit no longer works on gift cards. The airline credit is harder to use now that airline gift cards are off the table, but there are still ways to bank it if you don’t have a flight coming up, where you’d upgrade seats or check in bags. See the discussion here for ideas about which airline you could select year and how to use up the credit:

Me too! I have been thinking about getting an Amex. Either that or just putting more spend on my SW because I have the 25% bonus.

I have looked at the BW charts since we own there...it looks to me like the reallocated between times of year...increasing the number of points for all room types during “fall frenzy”...and decreased the points across all room types during the summer....it’s not the same type of reallocation they did prior that the DVC boards lost their minds over
From what I read there yesterday morning, most expected this type of reallocation and unless it negatively affected(like the one years ago moving points from weekends to weekdays) them feel it’s appropriate.

For us our October trip will cost more points, while May will be less

We own at BWV too. I haven’t even looked at the new chart yet. Not sure when our next trip is, but I guess I need to figure it out,
