Congrats!!!! A Disney wedding sounds like so much fun! I remember after my wedding, I couldn’t figure out what I was going to think about! I even considered quitting my job and becoming a wedding planner.
I say that all the time like after my wedding, planning PTA bingos, girls outings to the spa, etc... Event planning should be my retirement career.

No pickles tonight but I did have a bowl of cereal. I can't remember the last time I ate cereal but it sounded good tonight. Special K with almond milk. It was oddly satisfying. Does @Haley R like pickles or not?? I can't remember. Someone made a recipe with pickles that had cream cheese and ham, maybe?? I'd try it.

Our plane leaves at 6:05am on Thursday morning so we have to leave the house at 3am. Not sure I'll bother going to sleep that night! Hopefully @PolyRob is sleeping now!
That sounds so un-appetizing. The only use for cream cheese is occasionally on a bagel (butter and jelly are better option). Pickles should not have been invented. I hate when they put them on your plate and then I left to wipe the juice for it after I have tossed them off the plate as fast as I can and then remove anything that it has touched or have juice on it.

Enjoy your trip to Disney! One more week until we’ll be in the Caribbean!

Isn't using the cashout to buy stock through Schwab really what they want anyway (Schwab, that is, not AMEX)? I guess I don't understand why that would upset a brokerage company.
Yes, and the initial question made it sound like that's what they did, but a follow up comment in the thread clarified it was a one time buy for $100 but cashed out 6k total from AmEx.
So they took the Schwab bank account bonus of $100 and invested it, but cashed out the Schwab Plat bonus (and other AmExs). They didn't invest any of the MR cash, or anything else.

With the switch to basically commission free investing, it probably makes sense to use the brokerage account a bit more if you want to keep cashing out. Apparently $100 may not be sufficient.

Folks, stop the presses, this is huge - I made a phone call!

I finally closed out a checking account. As far as I can tell calling is the only way to close Santander so I didn't bother to email to try it as they don't appear to have a SM option.

Call was pretty painless except they have a telephone banking option that requires set up with a telephone pin, which I don't have since it was the first time calling. To setup you need the debit card or checking account number to verify. While trying to log in to my account to retrieve the account number it asked at least 4 times for me to enter it and before I could finally enter it, the system transfers me to a rep - which is all I needed anyway. But it asked so many times I was starting to wonder if it would actually time out and redirect.

I think the call was about 5 minutes and half was waiting out the phone tree. If all calls were like this I probably wouldn't avoid them like the plague!

So 1 down, like, 9 more to go...

Keep checking everyday. I did the same dumb thing but 4 tickets opened up 4 days before.
Unfortunately I couldn't chance that, I can't cancel the trip and can't risk only 2 of us going, at least of us HAVE to go, since we will never see him again after this. So I had to double the points and book the connecting flight that will have leaving the house at 5:30. That's going to go over real well when I tell them the time they have to get up LOL..

Oh whew there you are. Were you raiding the fridge again?? You know how @Haley R hates it when you eat all of her pickles!!!

I’ve heard a rumor that @PolyRob is waking up at 4:20qm 😯 😳
That explains why I didn’t have any pickles last night! I was starving last night though for real. I had a pack of crackers, grapes, pretzels, and ice cream!

That was me lol. They’re called pickle wraps and they have pickle, cream cheese, and we used corned beef but you could use ham. I actually haven’t been eating a lot of pickles lately

Dh and I went to target today to use our 20% off coupon along with the $300 gc we bought yesterday. We mainly went for groceries and household items and that’s the most I’ve ever spent on groceries! It wasn’t $300 but it was a lot. We did get things like cat food which was already 20% off so we got that plus the coupon took 20%. This might be dumb but I think the best deal we got was on grapes. They were .99/lb which is the cheapest I’ve ever seen plus a target circle offer of 50% off and our 20% off coupon. I got 4 lbs of grapes for like $1.50!
good deal! I ended up buying something using the 20% coupon that I have to return anyway :rolleyes1 I had been wanting some electric toothbrushes for the fam that sounded good in advertising.... but in reality weren't worth the price even on sale and using the coupon etc... so kind of a waste for me on those items, but I did get a bunch of other needed items so I'm fine with that...

I think we have a few teachers here @hsmamato2 (?) @LilSweetPeaPhoto. Teacher's gifts: what is appropriate? I usually give GCs (and am to dd's male teacher -- $50.00 Happy Dining GC and $45.00 Fandago {purchased as BBB with Chase offer}), but not sure about female teachers. I would like to give her cherished English teacher a Bkr water bottle or Cluse watch with a $50.00 or $100.00 AmEx GC. Is that too much? She's had this teacher for the past 2 years (AP English and post-AP English) and adores her and the teacher LOVES her. For her AP Calculus teacher I also want to get something special as she has really ignited a Calculus spark in dd and dd is thriving in her class (Cluse watch or just GC?). Then there is her AP Mandarin teacher who has taught her for the past 4 years but is very hard to read -- just $100.00 AmEx GC? Since it's dd's last year and her teachers are all excellent I want to get them all nice gifts. For the iLab 'teachers' (2 and both are male) I got each $25.00 Happy Dining GCs (Target buy $50.00 dining GCs and receive a $5.00 Target GC) and a nice Voluspa candy cane candle (both are married so the wives will like the candles). Thoughts?

Holy crap! Can I teach your children? I get NOTHING at the HS level. I take that back, one boy I had 4 year and his mom gave me $25 gc to homegoods every year (probably since I teach Architecture and Interior Design). Outside of that, I get MAYBE 1 or 2 $5 giftcards to starbucks a year is what I get.

Gifting my own kid's teachers I only gifted in elementary school. And I gifted wine, with a joke that I knew they needed it to deal w/ my kids!

There is a woman on the Today Show giving information on hot daily deals to save on gifts, and in addition to the actual items she mentioned on sale, she just said "Target has been offering 10% off their gift cards, up to a maximum of $300". Um yeah, that was one day only, 2 days ago :-)

I don’t spend that $ on teachers. I’m not sure that’s the norm here. DS’s teacher is getting a spice gift box from Penzey’s Spices and a $10 Target GC. I avoid giving food/homemade gifts because of allergies, intolerances, etc and the fact I know people that throw homemade food straight in the trash since they don’t know how it’s made. (I mean I know I washed my hands a million times and work in food service but the recipient doesn’t know my cat didn’t walk across the treats as they sat on the counter. I’m sure Mrs SFF is very sanitary but some people aren’t .). FWIW our school doesn’t allow any homemade treats at all anymore (PTA provides snacks for any school parties) which isn’t the same as gifts, I know.

As a HS teacher, I've gotta REALLY trust the kid/family to eat something homemade! I had one student who's mom made 30 different kinds of cookies. I had him 4 years. Then I had his sister a year. His mom knew how much I loved the cookies and continued to make them for me even after both her kids graduated. I miss those cookies, LOL.

But most I say thank you, and they hit the trash at home.

I think I need to try this soon. My kids all love pickles, cream cheese and ham.

Oh my goodness, I don’t know if it’s new but it’s new to me - the Philadelphia jalapeño cream cheese - it’s so good and spicy. I love it!! Been putting it on our sandwiches 😍
