I'm sorry he is losing weight and she is threatening to cut him off. Does he notice a difference? Did he try any other meds? I think Vyvanse was DS's third try at different ones. DS says he really does notice a difference. He forgot it one day and it was a really tough day for him. He has also lost a few pounds. His dr wasn't worried yet, but she tells me to make sure he eats. Which is sometimes tough. He has never had that typical teenage boy appetite. And what is normal? lol I am not sure anyone is.
He’s down 27 pounds since September. This was the first one we tried but I am pretty sure it’s working although he won’t admit it because that’s his immature/goofy personality (serious discussions are next to impossible). His grades are good and the teachers aren’t emailing me daily about him. I did ask about other options but he said any stimulant would cause this so he’d have to try something else and we’d have to work with a psychiatrist. And I don’t know what’s normal, but I know this kid isn’t! Unfortunately we had one pediatrician retire in 2018, then we found a great one who died unexpectedly and finding a good male pediatrician is tough. I told my ex we need a new doctor (he doesn’t like him either) but he says we will be accused of doctor shopping!

Oh wow, that is a significant drop, unless he was overweight to begin with. My DS is rail thin, 27 lbs and he would be see through. Lol Hope you figure something out. It’s rough. We are on our 3rd pediatrician and the current one is the mom to one of DS’s friends that is a girl. I feel bad, I think it is a little awkward for him. And now the kids are aged out. He has only till the end of the school year when he turns 18. She said if he continues on the meds in college he will need to find a dr at the student health center or near so he can be periodically checked out. I really would like to find a good family dr. Their last pediatrician was a family dr we all saw. After he left the practice we switched to the female pediatrician. DH and I haven’t had a dr since then and it’s been probably 5 or more years.

With United's new dynamic pricing, 40k miles isn't going to get you very far. Economy awards to Hawaii typically start at 22.5k miles each way and go up from there. The real benefit of the United card is you can downgrade it after a year to a no-AF card and still have access to expanded economy-class award availability. If you use MPX to buy eGCs, having a United card added to your MileagePlus account also gets you a 25% cardmember bonus on miles earned.

I do agree with you that 40k wouldn't get me too far, but it is 40k less URs I'd have to use. I wouldn't be as interested, but only 2k plus GE and no AF the first year? I do like that. I'll have to see how long this offer hangs around though. I just got my CIP 35 days ago. DH could go now but I was thinking maybe Hyatt card for him... May change my mind. Need to consult our numbers, but we we're both well under 5/24 so I'm definitely comfortable burning a slot for these.

Thanks for the further information on the Chase thing. I keep spreadheets of all my upcoming deductions, and Chase always messes me up by changing the amount when there is a refund. When I do AmEx cash back on my BCP, they don't generally change the upcoming payment in my experience. I have never had Chase add any interest when the minimum balance hasn't been paid, but I will look at it more closely in the future.
They don't add any interest.

We don't have any pets with fur (only a turtle). I also wash my hands and clean my counters before I start cooking. I'm actually pretty hyper about it. I am a bit of a germaphobe as well so I tend to not eat anything that comes from a home I am not sure how things have been cooked.
Well, pets or not I do hope people clean their counters. I don’t have any cats and the dogs don’t get on the counters but I wipe everything down. Pretty sure DH does not.
All the potluck talk, this is why I am afraid to make food for anyone but my family. I have 3 dogs, and I shed like mad. I always wipe off the counters and wash hands before and during cooking, yet I could never guarantee that a hair would find it's way in. There is just nothing I can do to stop it. I would like to bake something yummy, but I am afraid too. I don't actually have any pot lucks to go to these days anyway.
I would forgive you a hair or two, just not a bunch. 😉. A dog hair or two has made it into my food, no doubt. Someone once found one (honestly it could have floated in after serving) and I apologized for not making the dogs wear hair nets. I did once order from Boston Market and the side dish came with a wad of hair, roots included. 🤮 I can’t imagine how that even happened.
I don't have any problem with potlucks and we do them at work all the time. But I tell you what, nothing irks me more than going somewhere like Chipotle and watching somebody reach over the sneezeguard to point at something. Last time I went and someone did that, the girl working there immediately interrupted him and was like "SIR, PLEASE DO NOT REACH OVER THE GLASS." He seemed irritated by her comment, but I was pleased lol.
In the cafeteria at work, the deli/grill area is about 4 feet high, with the plate holder full of clean plates next to it. People like to reach over the plates (which are lower) to get their food from the employee. Um no, do not reach over clean plates with heaven knows what on your clothes. They moved the plates.
oh that brings up another pet peeve.... as much as I love little kiddos, I don't understand why most parents today don't watch their kids at these type of things! when mine were small they were likewise informed of their limits, and I always made sure they had a parent along to make sure they weren't being 'grubby' with the food table...it's just common sense! It's kind of a thing nowadays I guess... :confused3
My son, at 10 1/2 is just now barely allowed alone at a buffet and even then I watch him. Thanksgiving was a nonstop me telling everyone not to touch food with their hands. Serving utensils for everything. Even the potato chips that the kids like to just grab handfuls of. BIL was the worst. Spooned some dip on his plate, then used his finger to scrape the spoon onto his plate. Serving spoon went right in the sink. Bleh.
OT but my ds has lost so much weight on the adhd medicine (vyvanse) that the pediatrician is threatening to cut him off. And he had to talk to me privately about how it’s not normal for my son to claim he doesn’t have adhd. I’m well aware my kid’s not normal, thanks!
Is the dose adjustable (sorry don’t know the different meds) or wear off my a certain time? Maybe adjusting dose or providing food at a different time. My nephew takes meds which wear off by 630-7 pm. He does better if offered food then, instead of dinner at 5.
Maybe a psychiatrist or neuropsych isn’t a bad idea.
I don’t drink coffee but I do like donuts!! They’re like Bougie Pop Tarts!! An excellent breakfast choice IMO.
Nah, Toaster Studels are bougie pop tarts.

I like family docs for the same reason. Don't want to them to have to break in a new doc when they get to college. We're doing a bit of doctor shopping this year. The one we had for the last 15 years has moved to only seeing special needs patients (young and old). Then I had DS try a new one (he's also on vyvanse as of about 6 mos ago, so needed to get him in quick to keep the prescription going). Then a few months later we got new insurance which she doesn't take. I didn't really like her much anyway. So we're moving onto the 3rd this year. But it's someone I work with, so I already know I like him. :D

So just as an update since I haven’t shared in a while: I found out today that I will not be losing my job come January 1! Some of you may recall that I work for an elected official and my boss lost the election in November. For the last month, my 25 coworkers and I have interviewed for our positions and been getting ready for the worst. I got the call today that I’m being rehired, so I’m extremely thankful! I’m looking forward to things settling down a little bit now since I’ve been on high alert both financially and emotionally for the last month.

Tonight's musings about the Club Carlson card. My arrival night for our trip to Ireland opened up on Radisson today and I was able to secure one night at the Radisson Blu Belfast for 44,000 points. I love my Club Carlson card. For the $75 AF I get 40,000 points each card anniversary year. I let them pile up until I decide to go to London, Scotland or Ireland/Northern Ireland and use them for free hotel stays. $75 each year has returned thousands now in value of accommodations over the years. The room I booked today would have cost $260 for the night. That's not a bad return for my $75. This card is rarely mentioned here, but I think it is a good solid sock drawer card for anyone who goes to Europe once in a while. It's never crossed my mind to redeem points for a Radisson/Club Carlson hotel in the US. However, we do stay at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson the night before a Disney Cruise in Port Canaveral. The rooms usually run less than 40,000 points so it can also be used as a $75 for points to use pre cruise night cards for frequent DCL guests.

So glad that stress is over for you:)
