I love all the old Disney movies. I watched them growing up, even though they were older then. Now my kids have grown up on them. ‘Parent Trap’ is good too if you’ve not seen it. I think Disney+ has both old and new ones.
I’ve only seen the newer parent trap so I might need to watch the old one. I really haven’t seen that many old movies

Southwest CP question. I am just double checking... when my 12/15/19 statement closes, I can safely finish my spend even prior to year end and it will definitely not post before January 1?

$10 off $50 at Lowe's Amex offer on my account this morning. Both kids also had it on their accounts. Guess I'm buying three $50 Kroger gift cards at Lowe's this week.
I got this one as well! I am going to probably try to find a way to use it online (Disney Christmas decorations?!). Sadly I don't have a Lowe's very close to me. If it were HD I have about 100 of those 🤣

Don’t they still ban self service in parts of Oregon? We drove up to Crater Lake a few years ago and stopped for gas in Medford. A gas station attendant came running up to service our car and I recall driving around the station trying to shake this kid and thinking no no no, I want to pump my own gas.
Yes, most of Oregon bans self serve. Two years ago they started allowing self serve in some rural counties during certain hours. It was an adjustment when I moved up from California years ago but I sure like it now. No need to get out of the car on cold and wet days.
Ahhh I remember reading something went into place allowing it, but I didn't know it had to do with the occupancy of the counties. Interesting!!

It’s official!!! My dd heard back from DCP and she will be at BOG :jumping1: This is like a dream placement for my girl!

My only concern is since it’s only QS for breakfast and lunch, she will have all early shifts. That’s gonna be a bit of a challenge for a bit but I guess she will adjust.

So excited for her! We love having lunch in there.

This is so exciting, congratulations again to your DD!!!

Mornings can be rough, but just think of all the PM park time she will have after a power nap 😍

Possible deval to Hyatt points, they will be introducing peak and off peak awards starting next year.

On my quick read, while they introduced the same peak/off peak concept as Marriott Bonvoy, they seem to have implemented it better (as you'd expect from just about anyone else).
- It won't be dynamic, so what you see on release is what you should expect while inventory lasts.
- The dates will be set by geographic market, so it doesn't seem like it would be set for individual properties within an area.

Not being a Hyatt expert (haven't stayed in years) this doesn't seem too bad.

Just gonna say that your Marriott promos are WAY better than mine. I got the 2k points for 2 stays, but then it unlocked 15k points for 6 stays! No way I've got 6 stays between here and the end of the promo period. Also, I haven't seen 2 promos overlap in a while.

Now, the Sbux overlapping promos are what it is all about. I probably spend too much time plotting what I can do to overlap sbux offers (esp. when there is a game going on). With Sbux for life, you can get 2 free plays per day without doing anything - just click on the link next to "purchase not required" and it will send you a link with a free play. I never get anything good in that game (whereas I can max out the points on Bingo pretty easily for a reasonable amount of sbux activity).

I'm actually surprised that I got the tiered 4000/6000/8000 promo, I usually get the lame ones! 🤣 I might actually consider a mattress run, I'm at 39 nights right now (9 of them were paid stays, the rest are from the cc and award nights). If I can find a meeting place for the 10 nights at a reasonable price I might just do it. Plat status was nice at the JW Marriott Houston where we got club lounge access and a 1 bd suite. I had put in for Suite Night Upgrades for our Costa Rica stay last week, but never got the nice Jr. Suite that I was hoping for (like I got last year as a lower level Gold!). However, we got one free cabana rental and a free dessert sampler on that stay for being Plat. Oh, and we got $50F&B credit at the DIA Westin when we came back from CR. I love that hotel for late night arrivals/early morning departures - it's a great value for the free night certificate from the cc.

I just played the Sbux for life - got one puppy out of 3 needed for Sbux for 3 months lol

Overall, it doesn’t seem like too bad of a “devaluation.”

My understanding is the Hyatt Cat 1-4 FNCs that come with their card are category-based and will work at a Cat 1-4 property whether off peak, standard, or peak; unlike Marriott’s FNCs that are points-based, and peak can price you out at the place and time you want to redeem, and off peak can leave you using a more valuable FNC for a night requiring fewer points.

Points pricing set by geographic area gives some comfort that individual properties won’t play games with peak pricing, since “there is no minimum or maximum number of nights that a property can designate as peak or off-peak.”

Even at the high end, where the swing between standard and peak/off-peak pricing is +/-5k, doesn’t seem that bad considering the value of Hyatt points vs. Marriott or Hilton currencies.

The CSR covers you for trip cancellation and trip interruption. Separate insurance covers a whole lot more. Like medical evacuation (what I'm most worried about for cruises) and medical (if your insurance doesn't cover you outside the country). It may also cover things like missed connection (if you miss the ship), cancel for work reasons, etc.
Thanks- I got the covers just about any reason coverage....it's peace of mind for me bc it's a ways off still....

Making progress on DH’s possible plat closure. He was approved for a BBP to keep his MR’s going. Called for a retention offer and got 20k MR for $3k spend. He said he’d think about it. Will try calling again in a few days to see if there are any better offers. Payment is due Dec 10 and statement closes Dec 16. How do I schedule the payment? Do I subtract the AF from my payment or do I pay it and get refunded later?

I thought there was an extra thrill there as well but my dd19 really thought she was going to die!! She still says that is the scariest ride she’s ever been on 😂
Our DD20, too. One of our funniest family memories is taking her on the swinging car the first time. She was in her tweens and I managed to catch a picture of the absolute terror on her face. We still tease her about it. The other three of us love the swinging cars, but to this day she will sit in the benches under the ride and wait for us. She won't even go on the non swinging anymore.

Our other great parent of the year at Disney memory is taking her on the Tower of Terror right when it opened in 2004. She was a tall 4 year old and we had no clue how intense the ride was or how "scary" the attraction part would be. She cried the whole time and refused to go on it for years. We actually did feel badly about that one :) Oops.

We got the new Lowes Amex offer on 4 cards. Which reminded me P2 had a Chase Lowes offer on his United biz card that expires tomorrow! So I went in this morning and bought a Kroger gc with it. Hoping it posts properly. These Lowes offers are good timing for us because we used up all the $6k grocery spend on our BCP sometime last month. Seems like I read somewhere that the 6% back on groceries resets on Jan 1 now instead of at the beginning of whatever statement period includes Jan 1 in it. Does that sound right?
