I understand what you're saying. I've fallen victim to upgrading my iPhone annually. I really tried to resist this year, but a slightly increased trade-in tipped the scale. While I said I would enable, if you don't want to upgrade constantly I think the next generation iPhone is worth waiting for since it will most likely include a 5G antenna. That will be very important for the future!

As for the laptop storage, I got something like this, but designed specifically for my Pro model. If you want one for an Air I would triple check it is the right year/model.

It is engineered to fit almost flush with the device so it still remains portable. It isn't the most sophisticated SD card and transfer rates are average, but I just dumped stuff on it that I like having access to, but don't need to constantly touch. It sits mounted on my desktop and I am happy to have another 256gb with me at all times.

Thank you for this. DH is telling me to just add storage, too, so it's definitely something I will be looking into. I really want to keep my devices as long as possible.

Update on my Firestick. Arrived the other day and I immediately set to work (on work time lol) trying to install it in the den. I couldn't get it to work and I was driving myself crazy. Finally I decided to test it out on the tv in the master and voila, it powered up and turned on right away. Tried in the family room and again, no problem. So the HDMI port on the television in the den is not working (which isn't shocking given that the television is likely over 15 years old). I'm eyeing a new LG UHD television from BJ's. The issue is that there are numerous built-in speakers (none of which work lol) and I don't know what kind would go with the new television. Can't have a brand new tv without new speakers haha. I thought about a speaker bar, but the built-ins look so seamless I think I'd like to just get new ones and enjoy surround sound. It is nice to have the Chase credit as 1 for sure will be used on the new television!

@Haley R dd and I watched Kitbull tonight (on your recommendation) and really enjoyed it! I joined Disney+ when the Firestick arrived. Also loved Float, but not as much as Kitbull!

Just wanted to give you all a quick update.

As some of you know, on Oct 30 I was diagnosed with a rare stage 2 liver cancer. Surgery was recommended as well as meeting with the transplant team about a possible transplant if surgery failed. I have had every test possible in the last few weeks.
However, when my case was present to the tumor board at the major hospital the pathologist didn’t agree with the findings of the biopsy. I’ve been waiting on pins and needles and finally heard back after they redid the pathology.
pathology came back as not cancer. I still have a benign tumor that I will need to have a procedure to stop blood flow to stop growth but no surgery and no transplant.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers during this tough time. I will be closely monitored and still need to have the procedure but my surgeon said to enjoy the holidays and we will worry about all that in a few weeks.

He also said go to Disney! Enjoy your trip!

Speaking of old technology, I have a very old iPad that will not charge. I took it to the apple store and the "genius" said that there was no point in replacing the battery or doing anything else to try to start it because even if it starts, it won't work because apple no longer supports whatever operating system it is running.

Anyone here have any suggestions about what to do with it? Right now it is just taking up space in a drawer.

You can recycle it through Apple. If you go to their website, scroll the bottom and find Apple Trade In. They will send a box and return label for you to send it in for recycling.

We don't have a PIN card and haven't had issues in Europe. DD is living there this year and doesn't have a chip & PIN card and likewise is doing fine. These DPs are from 2018-1019 and include England, Scotland, Iceland, Norway (all over), Stockholm, Barcelona, Prague, Copenhagen, and Paris. Of course, YMMV.
