question about hilton and redeeming points.... is the 5th night free for anyone,or just with a certain cc? I'm looking at a 5 night stay at grand wailea for random dates and getting quotes of over 1,000,000 points for the stay....is it me,or is the site acting weird?

That amount of points would not be standard award nights. I think the 5th night free needs to be standard award. Silver+ status, not tied to any ccs.

Somewhere around where it shows the points total, you should be able to click on it and it'll show you the number of points for each night, including if the 5th night is free. I was just poking around the website earlier. Look for "show price details".

So this morning I got to poking around the DVC booking website while waiting to take the dog down the street to the vet for his shot.

Got lucky and found 2 more nights at BWV - Boardwalk View studio. So, of the 7 nights I'm trying to book, I now have 5 total - 3 at BWV, 1 at Poly and 1 at SSR. I could have picked up another Poly night and dropped a night at BWV but I left it alone. I want to get the SSR night replaced with either a Poly or BWV room. Still 50 plus days and there will be some action as it gets closer, there always is.

In addition to my 5 booked days, I wait listed a Tower room at Riviera. Weekend in January is only 13 points per night - deal for me if I get it. The key to me getting it is for a bunch of people to go buy in at Riviera. That will mean more inventory gets released. Right now they've got a big empty resort over there for January - they are selling rooms at 40% off. I don't remember a fire sale on Polynesian or Grand Floridian rooms when they first opened, but the prices weren't as outrageous either, if I remember correctly.

So the plan is to get 2 nights at Riviera, move over to BWV and then on to Poly and if absolutely necessary, SSR. Don't mind staying at SSR, just would prefer to do 2/3/2 rather than 2/3/1/1. I've also booked a night at Hilton Head on the return trip, but might change it for a Marriott further on. We will see as the inventory changes. If I don't get Riviera, Vero Beach is still wide open or I can again do something offsite, etc. It's a process and with time, I've usually snagged whatever I've wanted - but it's gotten more difficult as DVC has gotten larger. I've got the time to do multiple searches daily and enough points to grab nights without having to cancel. Things show up for a minute or two and you have to decide fast.

Even better! I am conditioned by Apple with Apple Care that starts day 1 rather than extends. 🤣 I wonder how many people are actually cashing in on these 5 year warranties? No way half the laptops they sell last that long 🤣
My Apple iMac is almost (or just over) 10 years old. I was going to upgrade it last year, but dh had a crazy amount of memory put on this one, so I kept it. I have thousands of pictures stored on it and I didn't want to move them off. Now that I pay $10.00 / month for the cloud I might consider upgrading lol.

Approved for my citi AA biz on 11/11. Still haven't even gotten the 'just messin with your head' paperwork. Should I be concerned??
Make sure you haven’t missed any calls from Citi for fraud verification. If you remember my famous delayed AA card related to never calling the fraud team back. It took me over a month to get that card I think.

You need to keep checking the website for the lower redemption points. I stalked the WA Maldives website for several weeks before the points dropped to 120,000 / night for our dates. It stinks but is soooo worth it! For reference I booked last February (or March or April) for our stay in April, 2020. As soon as I saw the redemption rate drop I called the 1-800 number and jumped on the nights.

It means the nights are not available at the lower point rate. Check daily for availability. What dates are you looking for? I booked our WA Maldives stay almost a year in advance (ditto for airfare -- the day points bookings opened).

OMG! I totally missed my first bill w/ my Hilton Biz Amex. I have email reminders set and text, etc....but for whatever reason I didn't get them. I kept thinking it was odd I didn't have a bill until December. So I got hit with a $35 late fee AND interest. I'm SOOOOO pissed. I never miss a bill. This sucks!
I’m sorry 😔

You did just totally validate me getting out of bed last night to pay my Citi bill at 1am!

Just wanted to give you all a quick update.

As some of you know, on Oct 30 I was diagnosed with a rare stage 2 liver cancer. Surgery was recommended as well as meeting with the transplant team about a possible transplant if surgery failed. I have had every test possible in the last few weeks.
However, when my case was present to the tumor board at the major hospital the pathologist didn’t agree with the findings of the biopsy. I’ve been waiting on pins and needles and finally heard back after they redid the pathology.
pathology came back as not cancer. I still have a benign tumor that I will need to have a procedure to stop blood flow to stop growth but no surgery and no transplant.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers during this tough time. I will be closely monitored and still need to have the procedure but my surgeon said to enjoy the holidays and we will worry about all that in a few weeks.

He also said go to Disney! Enjoy your trip!
Yay! Congrats on the wonderful news! 😍
Awesome! Thank you for the other card options! Appreciate that. I’ll be able to add DS in 7 months. Security seems to stress out my kids when flying. TSA pre-check would be one less thing to worry about.
If you need a few other cards that include GE/Precheck, I’ll add BOA Premium Rewards and Amex Bonvoy Brilliant. The BOA card is a nice little “travel eraser” type card (statement credit on travel charges) with a $95 AF, and a $100 Travel credit yearly and GE/Precheck every 4 years. If you have room in 5/24 and need a card to cover Precheck for a family member (like your kids). Current bonus is 50k points=$500.

Call and beg for mercy. “It’s a new card”. “I’m so sorry, this never happens”.
They may forgive and refund.

Two questions

1. Tsa pre or global entry is better to have if you were getting one to start?
2. Should we get both at some point?
2a. The kids (baby and 2) don’t need this as they can just come with us?

I missed one from capital one today. I was talking to my mom or I would have answered. I tried calling back and they wanted me to put in my 16-digit card number. I don’t have a card with them. Call should only come from citi, right?

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I understand it as Global Entry gives you both TSA pre-check, and a “fastpass” through international customs. You will enter a known traveler # to flight reservations and this is how you get TSA pre-check. I also believe children 12 and under may accompany adults through TSA pre-check. This is why DH and I are going for Global Entry. For ease of entry both domestically and internationally.

1. Global Entry is best if you ever have plans to leave the country - it includes TSA PRE.
2. Not necessary as TSA pre included in GE.
2a. Correct - Kids that young will not need TSA Pre - not sure on GE though if they have there own passport.
