It does lock you out of the SUB. I believe the preferred strategy is to sign up for the Plat and then immediately accept the upgrade offer. Highly unlikely they hardpull for just an upgrade, new accts are YMMV for hard pull with Amex.

Does signing up and then upgrading mean that you have two cards of the same type or do they combine them?

I just looked at the lightning “Black Friday” deals today on amazon and they had a diaper bag for $20. The diaper bag we wanted was $45 with worse ratings. This one has 800 reviews and 5 stars. I was gonna wait until Dh got home but they were getting claimed so fast I just made a decision lol. It had one day shipping and free returns so might as well

So in boring and niche news, got an email from BoA that my World Points cards have changed the cash redemption option for the points to 1 cpp (with a 2500 pt minimum).

This is good for me because I have some orphaned points and haven't found a good way to redeem them. Hasn't seemed worth it to spend enough to reach the minimum with a .05 cpp redemption. And there doesn't seem to be a current card I can apply for to add to it. I may actually spend a bit on my cards now and maybe I'll get some actual offers in return!

here’s some good news about your Bank of America® World Mastercard®. Your points are now more valuable when you redeem them for cash.
For example, in the past, 2,500 points were worth $12.50 cash back. Now, that same amount is worth $25.

We found the big diaper bag was good for the first 6 months or so, but then we switched to a diaper clutch and it had been amazing. I highly recommend that over a big diaper bag, especially for travel.

The one I bought is a backpack. I’m not a purse/bag carrying person normally and wanted something both dh and I can carry. This is what I got:

The lightning deal is almost over but they’ve all been claimed

This is what we have. I got it on sale at some point. When I want to be hands-free, I just clip it to my own backpack or purse, otherwise, we put it under the stroller. We have the Zoe XLC travel stroller and a normal diaper bag won't fit underneath, so this works perfectly for us.

Uhhhhh…. I SM'd Barclay yesterday since I didn't get the 10k AA miles for the employee card purchase. I got an email this morning that it was answered but when I log in it tells me I have no messages?

ETA: Ok, I found it, They marked it completed and told me I had to call... with the generic call message. :badpc:
Did the 10k employee card AA miles ever post? How long did they take? P2's 65k posted pretty quick, but the 10k employee card miles have yet to post.

Thanks

I'm so behind! I just scanned through 30+ pages and still 12 pages to go. I gave notice at wok have been busier than ever this week transitioning my projects. Things have been "dark" at my company since we were acquired and almost everyone has said "it's a good time to move on" and "let me know if you hear of anything for me". Any doubts I had about switching are gone, LOL!

I'm loving all the trip planning! We have an exciting 2020:

Feb - HI with UR flight and car, DVC Aulani nights, Hilton points for other nights

Mar - Weekend @ WDW - DVC, employee tickets, SW points flights (hopefully some refunded with a new CP in January/February)

April - Hilton free night cert at the Conrad for a quick trip (kids want to see tge Statue of Liberty)

Aug - 1 week in WA (have to figure out flights with SW points and hotels/car with UR) prior to AK cruise (cash)

Nov - Week @ WDW - DVC, SW flights (haven't booked yet), tickets from Delta promo (will upgrade to APs). Hoping to convince my SIL and family to join us

2021
Jan/Feb - WDW

Spring/Summer - I want to make this London trip I've been talking about happen

Summer - NH or ME, something beachy

Oct - WDW (have to maximize those APs)

Good thing the new job comes with lots of PTO!

Ours posted today!

I bought $400 more in gcs at OD today so a total of $800. I took them all to Walmart after. I did 2 swipes at a normal register and 2 swipes in the Garden Center. This was my first time using the garden center and I'll definitely be doing that again. No lines!
Do you mean 1 transaction & 2 swipes at each register or 2 transactions?

I'm not eligible for a while yet and I'm holding out for a 100k or higher offer. 100k with spend would get us 3, 35k nights worth of points. Since we're boring and haven't yet booked anything over 35k anyway, and don't tend to travel during peak seasons, and having a few other FNC's, that'd hold us for a while. So for me it's a boatload - for others it's a drop in the bucket

I haven't used points for anything over 35k either. But I've blown through a few certificates with no problem! I have no problem spending when I feel like it, but it balances out.

Does signing up and then upgrading mean that you have two cards of the same type or do they combine them?
Yes, you will effectively have 2 of the same card. So like I already have the AmEx Biz Plat but have an offer to upgrade my Biz Gold to a Plat. That would then mean I have 2 $550 AFs though. Although the Biz Plat is getting cancelled after the 1st year so that’s ok.

But if you have never had that card, you want to app first and then upgrade the other card to be able to get the bonus from the app (which typically seems to be higher).

Ugh Chase changed the appearance of their UR "dashboard." I hate change!!!
WOW - this is TERRIBLE! There are 2 things I care about when I login to my Chase account on the computer or the app...
1) Points on next statement
2) Bonus tracker on cards I'm working towards a bonus

The information is now TINY and the layout is not good IMO. This is just change for the sake of change, whatever money they spent on this was a waste because it feels like a step BACK!

Not sure that I really want to pay the AF on 2 cards right now and I definitely don't want to preclude myself from a SUB later. Thanks for the explanation.

Mine came through in, no lie, 36 hours. Dh is still waiting, 2 months later. I had hopes we'd be able to do Enrollment Upon Arrival last week.

Applications for me, DH, and DD went through quick last year (not 36 hour quick though, that's awesome!) but I think DB got stuck in the backlog. I figured DH's would take longer since he was born outside the US, but his was faster than mine.

I got Busch Gardens, but not Adorama! I would have totally used that on AirPods or something. I used my BB offer on Disney GCs and my RMN cash back failed so I feel dissapointed in myself like I let the offer go to waste 😔
You could have mine. No use for either.
OOOOOH and the phone agent messed up my first name when I booked over the phone even though he had my MileagePlus account. I called as I drove to work this morning and the CSR said there was nothing wrong with it. Uhhh my government issued ID begs to differ. I called again tonight and my reservation is finally correct. This is why I fly JetBlue to MCO over United 🤣
If you haven’t fixed it yet, maybe Twitter will work. Twice SW Twitter team has fixed tickets for me with misspellings.
How did I fall 9,000 likes behind @SouthFayetteFan?! 😱
I don’t know, but I’d like this twice for you if I could.
Hilton finally has some early November 2020 "points" rates up and they're up to 80K per night.... a bit more than I was hoping for :/ Hoping it still works out by the time I have enough points to entertain actually making the reservation. I was hoping for around 66K/night.
Keep looking. When I was looking earlier this year for Spring Break next year, all I saw was high high high. A month or 2 later, suddenly more inventory and lower points required. They fluctuate a lot.
Dh and I bought our tickets for frozen 2! I’m so excited. We normally see new releases on Thursdays but stupid AMC is charging full price for their tickets. I miss Marcus theatres so bad. Their Thursday new releases were $5 because of student Thursday’s. And no theaters near us have the recliners 😭
Yay! I have tickets for Frozen 2 and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood for Saturday and Sunday. 2 different theaters because neither had the $5.60 tickets for both shows. But we never go weekdays. Always Saturday or Sunday and usually before noon for the cheap seats.
Just curious how others treat this. Do you only redeem your points if it is a best redemption or do you sometimes take a less than the best redemption for something that is more convenient? I am still looking for flights to Glacier for next July. I had to choose my dates and hotels before flights were available. Now the dates I picked, have the highest cost for the flights I want. I am looking at different days and may be able to move things around. But I am finding I am not willing to take a less than optimal flight for less points. Example: the flight I want is from Columbus to Minneapolis to Whitefish. It is a total of 6 hours with 1.5 hour layover in MSP. Also the first flight is at 9:30 AM. I could pick a flight with 2 layovers or something where the first flight is at 6 AM for less points. But don't want to add a lot of travel time (up to 2+ hours) or have to get up well before dawn to get to the airport. It might because I am older, but I do feel like my time and comfort is worth something and I don't want to compromise too much. Anyone feel the same way?
I totally use more points/pay more for better flights. I don’t even recall the other options, but we flew non stop to China in Economy Plus or whatever they called it back then and bought then one year old DS his own seat because I value my comfort and sanity. We paid cash for that too (and sadly, let the points earned expire because I had no idea how to use them 😣 )
And THIS is how I ended up with a Future Rock Star Suite at Hard Rock 🤣
And your kids love you for it.
... I don’t need the AirPod Pros.

hmm that was easy for me 🤣

signed,
The cheapest man in the world
Me neither. No desire whatsoever especially after seeing the price tag.

Thank you.

Does Hilton allow you to rebook and use fewer points if I booked at a higher rate? I cancel and remake paid hotel reservations all the time if that happens but I am not sure how it would work with points.
