You're in luck, FM originally did a chart so you could visualize the restrictions but as far as I can tell they haven't updated to include the new Chase Bold card. TPG did here though - https://thepointsguy.com/guide/eligibility-chart-marriott-bonvoy-cards/
If I look at this chart it says once I am past 24 months since I got my bonus on my SPG/Marriott Amex biz, I could get a Marriott Chase personal card. And I don't have to close my Amex Biz card. Does this sound right? I have this in long term plans to pick up a Marriott personal card next year, after Hyatt card.

This could be wrong but what I thought I heard was these were on the dark web because of the Netflix hack and people used their same passwords for both services. Or something like that. I was only half listening but it didn't really seem to be a hack of Disney +. I tune out at this point when it comes to this stuff because it seems like it happens constantly. I probably should pay more attention.
We do have Netflix but we did not use the same password. We use a unique password anywhere financial info is stored. Both Netflix and Disney+ were under my dh's email though.

One of the things Disney IT did when we called on Saturday about my dh's resort reservation, FP's and AP's all going poof was to change my dh's login from his email to just the email name without the @gmail. She said that was safer. So instead of captnjack@gmail.com, his username would just be captnjack. But Disney requires the same password across all platforms and that is not a good thing :(

Fantastic! And thank you for sharing the numbers with me. Looks like it would almost wipe us out, points wise, which is what I expected but then I think about how it's 2 trips to Europe for about the same... I really appreciate this info. And have a great trip! I went there years ago (both A & NZ) and it was awesome! :goodvibes

ETA - the night you wrote about the koala sanctuary it came up on my FB feed. Someone I went to college with knows the person who started the org and she was trying to help fundraise for it. It felt like the universe was telling me to look going back to Australia even though I had never heard about that sanctuary until that day. I also wasn't planning any stops between Cairns and SYD, but now maybe I should.
Yes, it is more expensive to get there than Europe but for us, it is basically a full day of travel.

The Gold Coast, outside of Brisbane, and Coff’s Harbour, about 2 hours north of Brisbane, are really nice. The thing that fascinated me the most was how different the texture of the sand is. One place it was like baby powder fine.

I am so excited for DS to experience it!!!! It will definitely be a different view for us also to get to see it through his eyes.

Just curious how others treat this. Do you only redeem your points if it is a best redemption or do you sometimes take a less than the best redemption for something that is more convenient? I am still looking for flights to Glacier for next July. I had to choose my dates and hotels before flights were available. Now the dates I picked, have the highest cost for the flights I want. I am looking at different days and may be able to move things around. But I am finding I am not willing to take a less than optimal flight for less points. Example: the flight I want is from Columbus to Minneapolis to Whitefish. It is a total of 6 hours with 1.5 hour layover in MSP. Also the first flight is at 9:30 AM. I could pick a flight with 2 layovers or something where the first flight is at 6 AM for less points. But don't want to add a lot of travel time (up to 2+ hours) or have to get up well before dawn to get to the airport. It might because I am older, but I do feel like my time and comfort is worth something and I don't want to compromise too much. Anyone feel the same way?

For those of you using 1 password, does that work on your mobile devices also?
Yes, it works across all our devices and computers. I really love the "shared" vault, where I can have the entire family access the password. I will say there is a learning curve, but google is your friend :) I couldn't figure out how to use it on my iPhone at first, but then I googled and easy peasy.

I value my time as much as I value my points, so I will take a more expensive points redemption if it means my trip is easier, more relaxing, more fun, etc. For example, since I have a 2-year-old, I pretty much refuse to make connections when nonstop flights are available. Sometimes I can play around with arrival or departure dates to make things a bit lower pointswise, or take a slightly earlier/later flight if it makes sense. But sometimes that isn't a possibility or I don't want to miss half my day because the noon flight is cheaper than the 8am flight and so I just don't worry about it because my sanity matters too.

Just an update on my Best Buy Airpod Pro order. I got them last Friday (safely hidden away from DH) and the $30 Amex offer has already credited. I also have $45.75 pending at RMN. This means that I got the full 15% on the Airpods as well as the $55 in gift cards that I added to my order to hit the $300 minimum for the Amex offer. This brought the Airpods down to $189. DH is going to be really surprised when he opens his stocking. :D

Same with me! Except the Airpods were a gift to myself.....

I think you have to be comfortable, and if a few extra points buy you that comfort...I would do it.

Maybe it's just me but I couldn't make heads or tails out of this chart. It refers to cards you've had and cards you want, but doesn't mention cards you may want to keep. @Lain you are good at putting a perspective on this.

So, one thing has occurred to me. For someone who is comfortable with ditching all the Amex's, Chase could be the best option going forward as every 2 years you could get a signup bonus and a free night each year. That is if you are willing to forego the free nights each year from multiple cards and are happy with just a 35K certificate. I feel as if I need a 50K or greater certificate along with my 35K's and really want another 50K option. (Still thinking of the Ritz card but the time has not come to get it yet.) This would also assume 5/24 eligibility.

So you can use the side that says "had" to work out your current cards. If you want to start from that direction, I'd follow the rows of each card you have until you the see the "30 days". If you want to keep the card you have, then cross off the card with the "30 days" restriction since that means you have to cancel or PC your current card to get the new one.

Here's a template I mocked up using TPG's chart.
Marriott_CreditCard_Chart_v2.jpg

And from my memory it looks like you're locked out of Chase due to the old SPG personal card?

Marriott_CreditCard_Chart_Judique.jpg
If that's the case you'd have to cancel or PC that card and wait 30 days before going for a Chase card. (In addition to cancelling or PCing your current Chase personal card)
For the rest of the cards you'd have to be outside of the 24 month window from getting the bonus on that card to go for a Chase card. Since you have all the AmEx cards, you're only option there is upgrade offers or NLL ones.

Marriott made it into a logic puzzle to figure out if you can even get the card and then whether you can get the bonus for it. I did just realize that this TPG chart is only going off bonus eligibility criteria. Which for most people is all that matters, but there is a small distinction for current keeper cards since I notice it says you can get the Chase Boundless bonus if you had the old Premier card. This is correct, but if you're currently keeping the card, like we are, you're not eligible to even get the Boundless card. Offhand I think that's the only quirk. But a good reminder to use the chart to get a plan and then verify the plan against the actual terms.

I just looked at the paperwork and it does show a tracking number for the bonus with directions on what to do to receive it. Yeah!

So since my DH has his own business cards he could sign up for his own biz checking account, since it would be only in his name as sole proprietor? I do have a separate code for him to use. He is very hesitant to sit and talk to the banker so I won't push it. DH is great P2 as he just forwards me e-mails saying... "Guess I got a new card. "

Yay!
Your DH can get his own account with his own bonus too using another code. No household restrictions. Hubby got a biz bonus earlier this year and I'll be opening one soon too (tomorrow if nothing derails me again!!). To close a Chase biz account you do have to go in branch again or call - hubby chose to call :) Said it was painless.

If you're not set on getting a bonus for DH, you could try to open it online and have them apply the code through a SM request. The terms technically say to go in branch to open it, so there's a possibility the bonus won't post, but some people have had success doing this. In reality if the code is attached to the account the automated systems take over from there. It's just that I'm not sure the people answering SM's should be attaching the code but they have!
Not everyone can open an account online but if it's a difference of not getting it and possibility getting it, might be worth an ask if he's willing to try that :)

Agree with previous comments. As long as it isn't outrageous, if I have the points available I'm going with convenience. I try to analyze the same way as if I was spending actual money. Although I am more likely to spend the points than actual money!

Same here - nonstop with the kids if at all possible. Though they’re getting older now so maybe that’ll change. This past summer was their first connecting flight. I didn’t even realize until we got to talking. Their minds were a little blown. Wha?? We have to get off a flight to get on another flight to get home?? Umm...yes, that’s how connections work. 😆

My read is that if you have the Biz and intend to keep it, you are locked out of the Marriott Chase personal. I could also be wrong.

Edit: I think I'm wrong. Re: your statement of 'once you get past the 24 months' seems to be the key for the Marriott personal when you hold the Biz.

I have all but the Ritz card so I'm just plain locked out as I intend to keep all products right now - if you are a Marriott 'virgin' we always say pick one side or the other. But there seems to be wiggle room to get the Amex Biz and then 24 months later, get the Chase card.

Assuming that's the only card that could block the Chase one, then yes, that sounds right. Going off the current terms for the Boundless card, if you can say NO to this checklist then you should be good to go.

(And please, please, please, someone fact check me. I kinda just whipped this together from the Chase offer details without triple checking my wording on the questions :) This is NOT a time I'd be happy to be wrong  )

I think they made it more difficult than actually reading the terms. With the terms, you select a card you want than read the terms that go with it. I think what confuses people a lot is the plethora of card names Marriott has had in the last couple of years. And in the terms they refer to cards that no longer exist under the particular name, despite the fact that most people have the new product in their wallet.
