After the first day, I've only had a problem once or twice, and each time, after checking, it was indeed on my end. I do wonder what the differences are that are causing the problems for other people. I'm running the app on an Xbox One. Hope everyone else gets it sorted out soon!

I'm running a fire box and I've had a few buffering issues but nothing major. I'd say it has happened significantly more than it happens with my Netflix, but about as much as it happens with Hulu. I'm relatively unimpressed with the D+ interface. The inability to go back without rewinding the whole way is idiotic. And there are a few other niggles I've found in the user friendliness of the design. But overall, for a Disney company technology product, it has been pretty good for us. Of course, the fact that I have to have a caveat for Disney company technology is pretty sad.

I have two samsung 4K tvs in two separate locations.

The 43" one will show content in 4K with a 106mbps connection on Xfinity. A 55" one will only show HD content with a Fios 1GBPS fiber line. Both are using the Samsung TV App for Disney+, no Roku or Fire stick, etc. If it was the other way around I wouldn't really care because on 43" it doesn't really matter much.

I can't figure it out, but it's strange. I do have a suspicion that Fios throttles streaming services where Comcast does not, at least in my area. Testing the speed on both yields more than enough for 4K.

I have heard the rumors that some of the movies have expirations -- any truth to those?

I mean .. I feel that as much as I would love Disney+ to be a complete archive of all things Disney, I just cant see that happening for the price they are selling it. They could seriously harm their ticket and DVD sales if they keep stuff on here forever (plus- cycling content is a way to draw in new customers)

*shrug*

I hope not .. and I am happy with my locked in 3 year price --if they DO do that I hope there is some way to know when things will be coming and going easily (without sifting through articles on the internet)

What are you watching on? On my Roku, if you go into the movie and back out there is a Resume and Restart button. I put in a feedback request that they move it to the initial title page though.

Supposedly there are some movies that had pre-exisiting arrangements to go onto other locations/channels/services and those will still be honored (so some things will "go off" of Disney+ at some point. but it wont' be like the old days were everything is only out for a bit and then goes "back in the vault".

Amazon Fire box. I haven't seen that, but I'll look closer. My wife and I were laughing last night. I had watched the second Mandalorian on Saturday and she wanted to watch it last night. We were right at the end of the credits and you had to really time the pause, rewind, otherwise every time you opened it, it shifted to an Empire Strikes Back screen and the recommendation to watch that movie. She tried 3 times and couldn't get it right, it took me 2 more before I could get it to start rewinding before the ad screen came up. Annoying.

They are saying anything you actually download will never expire as long as you are a Disney+ subscriber. So while the movie may have to move to Starz, downloading will still allow you to view even after it isn't available for streaming.

Much of the content that was previously on Netflix will be returning to Netflix due to the contract, mostly the movies released between 2016 and 2018. Outside of those the contracts are less clear to us, so likely not limited to just these. Then outside of the Netflix deals, there are other arrangements that could also affect content staying on the service.
These films are confirmed to be returning to Netflix starting in 2025, assuming Netflix and Disney don’t agree on a change:
  • A Wrinkle in Time
  • Alice Through the Looking Glass
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Black Panther
  • Born in China
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Cars 3
  • Christopher Robin
  • Coco
  • Dangal
  • Doctor Strange
  • Expedition China
  • Finding Dory
  • Ghost of the Mountains
  • Growing Up Wild
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • Incredibles 2
  • Jagga Jasoos
  • L’Empereur
  • Mary Poppins Returns
  • Moana
  • Pete’s Dragon
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
  • Queen of Katwe
  • Ralph Breaks the Internet
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story
  • Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi
  • The BFG
  • The Finest Hours
  • The Jungle Book
  • The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Zootopia

I believe that is incorrect - and was a misinterpretation of what was announced:

"Update 10/24 5:16 PM: A Disney spokesperson replying to Gizmodo’s request for confirmation told us that Disney CEO Bob Iger comments were misinterpreted when he said, “if you are a subscriber, you can download [content] and put it on a device and it will stay on that device as long as you continue to subscribe.” According to the spokesperson, some films on the Disney+ service will go away at certain times and be unavailable to subscribers even if they’ve downloaded the file. I didn't know they had corrected that statement, thank you.

I love how Disney acted like it was a mistake on everyone's listening to Iger part, instead of just saying Iger misspoke.

It will be an ever changing library. Some films will be added some will leave and so on. Disney isn’t exclusive to their own product they have deals in place with Netflix still as well.

The reference earlier to "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" brings up a question. I have the Treasures Collection DVDs of this episode. The DVD set includes an introduction by Leonard Malkin and it was very interesting. Also the commentary script was fascinating on matte painting, lighting choices, etc. The question then if this content is available in Disney Plus, and it is, are there links to any of the additional content like commentary? Would be a shame to lose that content, while making the Treasures collections DVD almost worthless now. On the other hand, maybe now I can snap up other Collection box sets for much cheaper!

If you go into the help menu, there is a give feedback option where you can suggest features or even movies/shows. I suggest asking for the restart button(although my Roku had the option) and also a previously watched section.
Thanks for this - I just suggested some sort of indicator for when a new episode of a show on the Watchlist is available.

Definitely a lot of software updates the system needs. To me .. not having a way to visually indicate what (or how much) of an episode youve watched is just odd considering how mature the streaming market is.
For the long running TV series, I dont want to try and remember what episode I left on.

Hopefully they add that feature very soon.
