Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

Disney sprinkled some major pixie dust on us this trip!

We had booked a 12th floor atrium club level room with a theme park view. When our flight landed and I noticed what floor we were going to, i knew that someone somewhere somehow did something beyond wonderful for us! Honestly, I almost couldn’t breathe I was so excited!

When we walked into the 1 bedroom suite that they upgraded us to with a perfect view of EVERYTHING, I felt like Disney royalty! It was like a palace! Our room had 3 balconies facing Bay Lake and the MK, a living room, dining room, kitchen and it even had a Christmas tree!!!

I almost wanted to stay in the room for the whole trip!!

The only trouble is that I will always want this room going forward!! I tried to book it as a bounce back but there were none available! So I booked an atrium room for our next trip. Ive always loved those rooms, too...

This trip was like a dream. The most magical of all (even with the pouring rain at the Xmas party! Lol).

Sounds so snooty to say this and I don’t really mean it as such, but going back to Atrium Club after Tower Club was hard. To this day there’s not a CR Atrium stay that goes by where I don’t secretly wish we’d be upgraded at check in. Such a different room/CL experience up there. Your pics brought back some good memories.

I thought about your advice while we were there and wanted to thank you so much! You had replied to my post where I was trying to decide btwn CR tpv or Poly CL garden view. Your idea to just splurge on a CL tpv room helped me make the move when it became available! Lol

I really appreciate all of your help while I was planning the trip! Thank you!!😊

Lol, I’m glad my advice to spend more money worked out. 😂 Upon reflection I’m surprised I gave that advice, but I guess it made sense at the time. Thanks for the nice words, and more importantly, I’m glad you enjoyed your trip.

I used to avoid the contemporary... we stayed at the GF and Poly a lot when the kids were little and then started staying at the BC and Boardwalk so we could walk to/from the F&W fest and Osborne light show.

It all changed in 2012 when hurricane sandy hit us in NJ while we were at wdw. Our 2 day Halloween trip turned into a 2 week trip since we lost power back home and schools were closed...

We had been staying at the boardwalk but had to move since they were fully booked. Just about all of the rooms in all of wdw were booked - but then they found us a room at the contemporary. Although we had never wanted to stay there since the themeing seemed dull, we were glad to have a room.

We were so pleasantly surprised with the contemporary! The views of the magic kingdom so close to us were amazing. It makes me feel like we’re staying right in the MK! Once we realized how quick and easy it was to walk to the mk and that Cali grill takes walk-ins in the lounge, we never looked back!

Now, I highly recommend the contemporary! It’s our favorite! 😊
I was able to stay at BLT in a 2 bdr in May and it was wonderful, but it took me forever to convince anyone to even stay there just because the resort theme doesn’t interest them. I finally talked my mom in to it and we loved it! I just need to stay in CR though, it’s really my dream. I am trying to stay at least once at every WDW hotel, and after this summer the only Deluxe I’ll have left is CR. I wouldn’t mind staying there on a solo trip, the lounge just looks awesome.

In January 2019 the beer and wine were both out for self service at AKL during the evening service. I will see what it is like this coming January and if anything changed.
Beer, wine and sometimes cider and gluten-free beer (new as of last month!) are still out for self-service during the evening service, and then of course it’s self-serve for cordials during dessert :) . Thankfully, the powers that be have not messed with this yet.

Wow, GF beer! We haven't seen that at Disney for a few years, they went through a period where they carried it everywhere and we were even successful in getting it at CL a couple of trips, and then it just dissappeared... They started carrying Angry Orchard a lot, which is naturally GF, so we assumed they kind intended to let that double as cider and GF option. However, my DH doesn't really like Angry Orchard - he says it's too sweet - so he will be thrilled if by chance it is making a comeback around and/or in club lounges. We had quite even asking about it when we stayed CL since it had been so long since one had been able to get it.

Just to mention, each CL gets different beers. From talking to Lene at BWI, she changes things up quite a bit. Some of the cheap bad crap is same throughout but after that, it really isn't.

Yeah, I don't imagine he'll get it, but at least this is a sighting lol. It used to be that if Disney carried it anywhere CL could request/order some in for guests with a little notice (at least that's what the chef that we saw for 3-4 yrs in a row in Poly CL told us), but either he made that up or we never ran into others willing to do it for us. Our last CL stay before we size out of any CL rooms except deluxe ones at BWI and WL is RPC in Feb (I'm not counting the crazily priced suites), maybe we'll ask just for poops :-) and giggles.

We got special beer at BWI recently. But we didn't ask for it, exactly. We were grabbing beers down in Abracadabra Bar. DH and I talked amongst ourselves that we really shouldn't be paying for beer there when they had it upstairs. Then I joked that it was too bad none of it was any good. The bartender overheard and asked what we liked. We told her and she sent 6 pack up with our names on it. Just for us.

I am really bothered by any of the CL that pour for you. I don't get it, will never understand why most are self service but a few insist on pouring for you. Last time I was at AKL they never even put beer out, you had to ask and they had to open it before giving it to us. So we couldn't take some back to the room to enjoy after returning from the parks at night. I mean, I guess each manager (CL or Resort, I have no idea) must make the rules but I'll never understand why they get to. It annoys me to the point that I won't stay at the ones who pour for me. Or where I have to ask for every drink. It's not that we drink a lot mind you, one or two is about it. It's the principal that just bugs me
Considering the price tag on club level it is very odd that they’re protective of the very thing you’re paying for.

Agree, and I've never seen her stock the Angry Orchard either actually. (I like it but it's not available at BW CL, in my experience. I've only had it at BC/YC CLs)

Wow. That's amazing, we frequently stay in the garden cottages. There are some trips when someone does something nice for us, like what you mention, and it's so worth it.

BW CL had Angry Orchard when I was there in March and I think also for my August stay.

SL had it in July!
Yeah, they had it in August too.....and a CM who was insistent on making DD11 a glass of Angry Orchard mixed with Sprite. I continued to tell her no, that DD was well underage and we didn't want it, DD told her she didn't want it, CM brought it anyway. Thankfully I was paying attention when she brought it over and DD knows that Angry Orchard has alcohol in it and she shouldn't touch it.

WHAT?!!?! That’s appalling!!!! I’m not sure I would have handled that too well 🤨

Well, after things that happened during my trip two weeks prior I had a card with a direct number for the club level managers so I called them. They too were appalled and said that they obviously need to refresh members of staff regarding alcohol laws, and company policy. It kept feeling like they put the CMs in SL CL who were either still training or weren't up to standards for other CL. I love GF, I adore RPC, but I won't be back to SL.

Good for you!!! That’s truly unacceptable. I’m happy the manager felt the same. I 100% agree with you on the staff there. It’s disappointing.

I once had a SL/RPC split stay. The staff was much more courteous, welcoming, and helpful in RPC. We even had a CM in RPC who had been in SL earlier in our trip. She was consistently grumpy at SL, and was more helpful and approachable at RPC.
That being said, if we had a trip where we wanted to either avoid the main building lobby crowds at certain times of the year or save a bit, I would consider SL again- just knowing the trip experience would be different.
