Official 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend - CANCELED

Where does everyone like to stay during a run weekend?
French Quarter. So close to Epcot and feels very central overall to WDW. I'm almost kicking myself for heading to All Star Movies for Marathon Weekend 2020, but with 2 WDW trips next year and a third that may yet happen, I'm attempting to behave. I am returning for French Quarter for Rival Run 2020 after staying there for Dark Side 2018 and Marathon Weekend 2019.

I also loved Riverside for Dark Side 2017, but the more compact layout of French Quarter gets my vote for a runDisney race visit.
Oh, man - so glad you posted this! We're not making as many reservations as we have in the past, but I did get the ones we wanted. Except I completely forgot about Oga's! So thanks for that reminder - and now I have that one, too!
I need to make reservations soon. How much time do I actually want to spend outside of Batuu? Hmm. . . .

I'm officially in for the Half and the Kessel Challenge with it! This weekend was SO not on my radar but everything kind of came together in a perfect storm to convince me to sign up:

1. Yoda/Darth Vader Theme for the Half
2. Five Year Anniversary for all the races
3. Star Wars was the last race weekend I needed to say I've tried all the WDW weekends at least once
4. I'll already be training for the Princess Half so I can easily earn the virtual half medal (which Chewie made better) through that training
5. This will bring my 2019-20 Disney medal count to 10, which as a math teacher is just such a beautiful/perfect number

Super excited to try this weekend out!

Only made reservations for California Grill Brunch on Sunday and Ogas on Monday.

We fly in Friday morning. Still trying to decide what to do after the expo.Thinking of catching the bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge for late lunch at Sana’a or just head straight to AK.

Saturday Epcot Flower and Garden booths.

We ended up just doing the AoA suite, seemed to be the best fit for us when it came to cost

But French Quater is on my list of places I want to stay at

Got a reservation for Oga's on Friday, aiming to get to Hollywood Studios as early as possible that day for Rise of the Resistance. Hopefully the wait isn't that bad by April but I'm ready for whatever.

Really hoping they start doing FP by then but yea getting on ROTR is a priority!

I just realized I can't go into the parks Fri as that's the last day my AP is blacked out
That’s one of the reasons I chose not to do this weekend alone when my friend found out Megacon was the same weekend and balled on me

Keep an eye out, though - they lifted the AP blockout for SW race weekend one year. IDK if they'll be inclined to do so this time, but worth checking the website as we get closer!

Honestly, I would love if they never did FP. Lines are so much quicker without it.
As a local, I could not agree more!

Thanks, will def check.

And yes, that's probably the one down side to being a local, I live just 20 minutes away, and there's some morning when I wake up and I have an off day at work, I'm like, I'm going to Disney. Then I look at FP's offerings, and sometimes, I'm just like, nevermind

I gave in and registered for the 5k since I love the Ahsoka/Maul theme :) I'll be doing the 5k and 10k (my husband's first 10k!) and we'll be cheering people on from the Boardwalk (depending on the course) for the half. We booked at Coronado Springs and I have an Oga's reservation for Saturday afternoon as a celebration after the 10k.

Do you guys usually book any sort of breakfast ADR for after the race? Doin first 10k, and not sure what to do after the race (besides eventually take a nap)

It depends on if I have park tickets for that day. If so, I’d shower and then head straight to the parks and get food there. If not, I’d book a nice breakfast somewhere, nap, pool and Disney springs to celebrate in the evening. After the 10k this year, I think our plan will be galaxys edge.

We are staying at AKLV-J so we are planning to hit Boma after a shower... but we will finalize plans once course maps are out...

I just hope that maps are out before FP.

We are DVC and will be arriving on Wednesday so we are going to have to make some decisions on what tickets to use because we can’t use our AP vouchers...we have some old non expiring ones we might use I guess...I will definitely be watching to see if they open up restrictions on APs..
