Well, that explains a lot for me too. Interestingly, I got hit in round 1 months ago but could still refer, but now I'm unable to refer anymore.

I was thinking I was in the clear. I had one self referral for my own Rose Gold and I got $100 cash. Now I'm wondering if they are just working the way along and will eventually get to cash claw backs. I've also had one pop up recently for the Hilton Biz card. But, who knows what they will do?

Back from our weekend in Chicago. Flew on SW RR and CP, 2 nights with Hilton points at Homewood Suites. We had a fantastic time, the highlight being Hamilton. I've seen it once before in the cheap seats. Sprung for orchestra this time - worth every penny!! The walking we did rivaled Disney for me, 10 miles the first day. Less the 2nd since I was sore and tired. :rotfl2:

In 5 short months, DS will finally be old enough for an AmEx card. I am thinking the Gold is the better option since it is no fee instead of Plat. What have others done?

Do you have an Amex card that you plan on keeping long term? I made my DD an AU on my SPG personal which I still have and she still has back when she was of that age. When we went to get her new car in 2013, she came up with an 800 credit score, probably because it was a card with history and she had carried it for years. At 27, she's now got scores almost as high as mine - 840 to 850's. She's been extremely stable and there was always spend on the card along the way.

I haven't been hit yet either. I had two self referrals. BCP to Rose Gold ($75) and Rose Gold to Platinum (10,000 MR). I'm fine with whatever they do, but think blocking referrals is a bit of overkill. Won't really impact me as I'm in one player mode. Now if they took my offers away I'd be pissed!

Sounds great! I’m going in 3 weeks. No marathon for me, just the wine and dine. 🤣

I'll be there also actually arriving Nov 3rd and right now I'm booked through Nov 15th, with Nov 9th in Clearwater. Most of my days are at BWV, but I've got the last 2 nights at Poly and GFV, but may change that if the option arises. I need to stalk the DVC website.

My DD is an AU on my Plat (true Plat) since we can really utilize the CL and SkyClub...if that weren't the case, gold would be fine. If you have the BBP that's another good "everyday" card to make him an AU if you ever think he'll use it (not now but once he's a little more independent in high school). At 13, there are good reasons to have them as AUs (building credit history, more Amex Offers opportunities) and since they can't apply for their own cards for several years, this will avoid 5/24 if you get the AU cards now. DD has quite a good credit score for an 18 year old, all based off of her AU status that she's held since she was 8 (Chase Disney, natch).

Geez, I thought I got Bar-Crayed (is that a term?). Activate my new Hawaiian Biz last night (after having to go through phone verification to get approved) and went to use it this morning and it wouldn't work. But I called and they just said it wasn't activated. So she activated it and now I have made a Plastiq payment with it, whew!

The haha is in reference to your 'offers' comment. I'm right there with you! I'd keep my hotel cards, but my Rose Gold would go byebye and I would call them up and tell them that.

Well, now after actually writing this, I'm afraid I have to take it back. I still have that 4x on groceries and there are more than one event that would have to occur to make me cancel. Dang Amex got me where they want me - wanting more!!!!!

I thought we stopped sharing with Outsiders?

I was being sarcastic. There's no way they'd post a link to a higher offer that's beneficial to their readers if they're not getting a commission, even after they called Southwest "nefarious" and suggested filing complaints with the FAA [for announcing the increased points requirement for CP the day after the enhanced offers supposedly ended].

Your comment looked so civilized and innocent! (this is a haha because it could be taken as if I didn't get your reference which I did.)

My comment was centered on them being Outsiders (and Nefarious Money Grubbers) as opposed to upstanding churning citizens such as our group.

The BBP would be for offers only since it's a biz card, it won't report to his CR. (And since it's a biz, I think they have an unadvertised age limit of 18 for employee cards?) But nothing stopping someone from being AU on multiple cards. As for long term, do AU accounts age on your CR like regular accounts? Shows up for 10 years after closing? Never been an AU, have no idea what they look like :)

@brownhaired_girl - did you get and use the Travelon bag yet? (Forgive me if I'm mistaken on who I got the link to this bag from.)

Well, long story short, after watching it on Ebags I eventually ordered it from Amazon and absolutely love it! It worked in every way for my needs as I'm not too hard on any bag as I tend to switch out a lot.

But, the bad news is I have to return it. Took it to New York where it held all my stuff easily, and passed it to my daughter who actually carried it, not rolled it, to our room, while I parked.

So, I packed it back up and started to roll it out of the room at checkout, and one wheel wouldn't roll. Can't fix it, and don't know what's wrong so it has to go back. This makes me unhappy as I really liked it as far as organization goes.

Meanwhile, I ordered a different bag with similar capabilities but it's a Samsonite spinner. Ebags was still trying to sell me on something and sent me an email for it at 1/2 price so I bit as I want this size bag to go along with my larger bag for my Florida trip as I'll be doing a couple or more of one nighters and I won't have to 'bag it' with my things. I'll have an easy to roll overnight case. I looked at a Hartmann case but couldn't justify $275 when I know I'll tire of it and be looking at the next latest and greatest in a year or two.

Thanks, Tink! I think they need to be 18 to be added to the BBP or any Biz card. I'm still on the fence as to how long I am going to keep my Plat since I don't get much use out of it since we rarely Uber and it doesn't seem to get many good offers. Maybe I'll start with the Gold and I always add him later to the Plat, if I keep it. It's not like he will be flying without us to use the lounges anytime soon.

Thanks, definitely my Rose Gold at the moment. I think I will end up keeping my Plat for another year and then reassess next year. My Biz Gold and Biz Plat are definitely on the chopping block. my Biz Gold is getting a little use at the moment for the gas spend + the Exxon offer + Safeway. I am not sure $175 is worth it just some he can be fancy :)

Did you get the one with charger that goes under the seat? eBags had that at a reasonable price the other week.

You can’t cruise with them until they are six months old. Honestly sounds like a nightmare to me. Babies are exhausting and I personally was in survival mode at that point.
If I had to choose with a young baby I'd choose cruise for sure..... (I only took my 6mo to visit family by plane at that point)

I think my post must’ve come across wrong. We wouldn’t go when the baby is tiny. We would wait at least until September which would be 5 months and wanted to try a short plane ride somewhere in the states first to see how that goes. I do agree with you that a cruise might be better.
on the other side of this equation.... traveling with kids to young to walk, and that just sort of ride in a carrier pack or stroller and nurse simplifies life too....it's just that Mom and Dad are pretty tired at that point usually..... I appreciate the 'non-mobile' baby trips we've taken.... to me 6 months is a nice age to start. (my 6mo learned to crawl and climb on a trip to WDW)
ETA I can see how I did that.....my 1st kid, only family at 6 months- 2nd kid, WDW at 6 months..... 1st kid was much tougher lol
