I really do want our baby to be able to nap with sound around. I’m not sure if that will happen or not but if we’re at Disney it would be nice for them to just fall asleep in the carrier or stroller. My nephews are told they have to sleep in their beds so they always drive home and make them go to their beds when it’s nap time instead of sleeping in a stroller
We have a kid who was born to be awake during the day and even she took naps in a stroller at Disney. She has fallen asleep in a stroller or carrier about 10 times total beyond the very early newborn period and all of those times have been when traveling! I am sure you will figure out your kid/parent/style rhythm and have fun traveling at whatever stage that happens.

You are a far braver soul than I am to drive in Manhattan. I won’t even cross the GW bridge; I do the Tappan Zee/ Mario Cuomo workaround if I have to travel out that way.

Will be doing another mother/daughter nyc trip myself this weekend. We are not sure if we will have the energy for a show Saturday night because we are doing the Hard Hat Tour of Ellis Island in the afternoon, but Mean Girls does sound great. We are booked at the Holiday Inn Express Times Square (with points, of course.)

I drive a large old vehicle (on trips) so most people are wary and just want to get around me. They will get the worst of it if anything happens. So no fear of damaging shiny paint. My fear is mostly pedestrians at crowded intersections when turning right. Some are just going to walk out there but the majority know what they are doing. I've driven DC for years downtown, plus Boston, and Montreal and that is certainly not NYC, but I have no fear in this regard. But, my route to the north is always Tappan Zee - it's just faster most of the time with less stop/start. It's really only 30 miles longer in actual distance than taking the GW bridge and trying to wind through traffic. NJ Turnpike, Garden State Pkwy to 287 across the Hudson via Tappan Zee to 95 North. I've done it hundreds of times. The only time I hate driving a distance is when it is raining. I absolutely hate it.

I picked the show time as the 2pm one, as I didn't want to be out too late walking around - that's just not my schedule at home. I'm early to rise and early to bed.

What a nice trip, sounds like you had a great time! I am so happy you saw Mean Girls and enjoyed it! The backstage bathroom in the theater is pretty exciting!!

I didn't get to see anything. The great part was the convenience and he could have said, 'go downstairs - you've got 2 minutes'. But he didn't, he helped me out.

That sounds fun too! I don’t drive into the city either. I take the Amtrak!

I would say Amtrak is a lot smarter choice, but there were six of us plus 2 strollers. I priced out Amtrak and would have used up too many of my points. They are better used on the Auto train. Can't do the buses - not a big bus to NY fan. Amtrak would have been over $500 for all of us. Bus much cheaper. Driving about $220 - there are about $50 worth of tolls, plus parking. Gas was relatively inexpensive with fuel points and stacked deal.

I had tubes in my ears as a kid too. I had swimmers ear all the time and had to wear plugs in the pool or shower. I screamed on the plane because my ears always hurt so bad. Now as an adult it’s uncomfortable but I’ve learned how to pop my ears myself so it’s bearable

Look into earplanes! I swear by them for flying! I popped my ear drum in HS, and though planes are pressurized, I have been know to get hella sick and puke on the plane (luckily haven't in years, well except for the insane turbulence last year coming back from NC). I won't fly w/o them!

I get anxiety driving over bridges. I always do the lower level on the GW even if it takes longer than the upper level.

I do not care for bridges. I no longer do the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. I've done the top level of the GW a few times, but not often. I didn't always have bridge anxiety but I do now. As I approached the Delaware Memorial Bridge, it looked so huge! I chose a center lane and just kept going and took on the 'don't speak to me' attitude. On the way back, I suggested cheesesteaks in downtown Philly, but nobody bit that bait, lol, so I continued and the dang bridge was almost stopped - my big fear - but once I got a quarter of the way up it started moving and I got moving and could breathe again. It's really just a few minutes in slower traffic but it feels like an eternity.

I hate the tunnels like going through 95 or to Virginia Beach and always fear they are going to collapse on the car and we'll either drown or get smashed like a pancake.

My brother says the same about buying a seat. They always buy a seat for both boys and put them in car seats since that’s what they’re used to
Agreed, this makes for much easier, and safer, flying!

As for Disney naps, we had luck with a travel sound machine inside the stroller, seat reclined flat, big shade extended (city mini stroller) and a muslin blanket draped over. DH would set up the baby and just walk for 2hrs (trying for quieter areas). DH loves just walking the parks, so worked out perfectly.

Was there a schedule change involved or just a preference to change? I have an account but have not tweeted (I'm a lurker), would you say that you are more likely to get favorable results if you have established a history?

Not sure if you were asking me or @PolyRob but for me it was preference only. We were originally flying back on a Friday and needed to stay until Saturday so we could attend the AP Preview. They said it was a one time courtesy to waive the change fee.

I recently got this card. US Bank is my regular bank, it took almost a week for approval and I was given a $500 credit limit (I remember someone else posting who got the same limit). I called about a week or so after I got the card about increasing my limit, she asked some questions about annual sales and other assets and then told me I would be notified in writing. After about a week or so I called again as I hadn’t heard anything and was told it was approved the day after I called but something had gotten hung up in the system. They did do another hard pull when I requested the increase (so I had 2 hard pulls within a couple weeks for this card). They increased my limit to $15,000.

I ended up applying and received the 7-10 day message. I requested to be notified via email so we’ll see what they say. I have a feeling IF I get approved it will be for a very very low credit limit.

Datapoint: they pulled Trans Union for me.

We just did the Chase biz checking deal a little over a week ago (spouse and I each did one at separate times). I know what you mean about getting out of your comfort zone!

It was painless for both of us, and spouse is fairly reluctant to do this stuff--even that went smoothly. I did end up sharing more about my business that on a credit card app, so be prepared to answer basic questions about how much you'll make and spend, how frequently you'll use the account, and a little more detail about what you do (as opposed to just selecting a category on a dropdown). And the banker who helped me chatted about my business quite a bit. If it was a "business" that might've been a little more unsettling for me, but still nothing to worry about if you've thought through before you sit down. And my banker wasn't making any real judgements or decisions about the account, he was just filling in the forms on his computer.

It was only $300 when I did it, but just got an SM back that they're going to change me over to the $500 since I sent them a new promo code.
Did you need to provide any documentation for your business? Do you mind if I ask what state you are in? I've been looking into it and it seems to vary by state what is required.

For some reason the Delaware memorial bridge doesn't bother me. I think because it so wide and I just go in a center lane and take my time. I wasn't even driving when a family member took the outer lane on the Queensboro bridge and that was the worst. Never again.

We definitely will be doing some trips to Disney when the baby is small so maybe that will be a telling sign about going out lol. I really am thinking a cruise might be the way to go. Dh already said he wants to fly to Iowa in July to see family and the baby would be around 2 months so pretty little. That’ll be a good test trip too
See I would totally rule out a cruise because to me there isn’t much to do on sea days other than sitting on the deck and Sunning and using the pool. And it gets crowded. I’d do something a bit more active l. I guess it depends on the itinerary

We bought a seat for our 1st daughter but did lapchild for our 2nd daughter until she aged out since that would enable all 4 of us to sit in one row (since we always fly SW). These were of course short 2 1/2 hour flights but it worked out well for us. It worked well for us in both instances. (We never even considered lapchild with just 1 kid because I did not want to sit with a stranger in our row and 3 people for 2 seats didn't interest us...4 people (2 little ones) for 3 seats worked out well though)

Also depends on the ship - we have cruised many times and rarely spend much time sitting by the pool. We love playing trivia, sports competitions, table tennis, hitting the gym and spa. With the right ship there is usually something to do throughout the day.

Does anyone use paribus? Anyone know about wikibuy? Wondering if you have saved with them and if they are truly safe since they have access to your email.

Thank you Dick’s for putting Adidas on sale for 40-50% off! DS is now set with 3 new pair coming his way, 1 pair for now and 2 more for when he outgrows the 1st pair in 2 months. Plus they take PayPal so score on 5% Freedom category.
Thank you!! Just bought DD the adidas shoes our new puppy destroyed for only $30, we originally paid $60

Thanks I’ll have to look into those. My ears really aren’t too bad anymore. I just pop them when they start to feel like they need it. They stay a little sore after we get off the plane
