@Alexle2007 you sound like my sister! Shes the 2nd of the 4 (I’m the 3rd) and so far no kids for her! She also hates being the middle. I don’t mind so much haha

@EACarlson our current stuff is Samsonite! Held up great for like 10 years now! Its just time for a lighter/more organized set! (Ours is soft sided and heavyyyy).
My younger siblings didn’t mind it all either but they were the ones reaping all of the benefits.

I’ve read some pretty good blogs and articles about people who travel with babies. I know we won’t really know until after the baby is born but we definitely won’t be those people that stay home for years and stop traveling. So maybe a cruise would be best because we could keep everything in one place
I don't know of any cruise line that will allow a baby less than 6 months (Even DCL is 6 months now). And depending on the itinerary they may need to be even older. Just something to keep in mind.

Mine are almost exactly 3 years apart too...born 9/23 and 9/25...
but my first ...DS was easy..slept through the night the first week home...napped a lot....
my DD was born with a cleft palette...and had ear issues...etc related to that....lots of pain/crying/not sleeping.....had tubes at 3 months old and the roof of her mouth repaired at 9 months....her ears still bother her even now at 29 sometimes on flights
I had tubes in my ears as a kid too. I had swimmers ear all the time and had to wear plugs in the pool or shower. I screamed on the plane because my ears always hurt so bad. Now as an adult it’s uncomfortable but I’ve learned how to pop my ears myself so it’s bearable

We took our first daughter to Disney World when she was 10 months. That was our first trip with her. We took our 2nd daughter to Disney World at 5 months, 7 months and 9 months (that was our AP year).

I’m going to provide a dissenting opinion from some and recommend you consider waiting a bit on travel. Adding a newborn will affect numerous things in your life, at times it may try your marriage and certainly will test your patience. This is your first child, so there is so much unknown at this point regarding how they will behave and how you will react. When you do travel, you also may not want to attempt something “new” and expensive as your first trip. I felt very confident taking my 10 month old to Disney because it was a trip we knew how to do. There was no pressure to accomplish anything, we really let her dictate our pace, and most importantly we avoided stress and arguments because we knew exactly what to expect going in to the trip. While a cruise might be new to you guys, I guess it could also fit the bill since it’s largely a controlled environment (perhaps I’d keep my shore excursions light or nonexistent though). At any rate, I felt I’d share this - I’m sure others could see it differently. It also is hard as a parent of 2 to rewind my mind and remember what it felt like to be a brand new parent of our first child...

I see @Lain corrected you lol. I’m CHEAP - we got some Kohl’s luggage from my parents for Christmas a couple years ago which replaced our decade old luggage prior to that, ain’t got no time for sinking $$$ into bags 🤣 🤣 🤣
We definitely will be doing some trips to Disney when the baby is small so maybe that will be a telling sign about going out lol. I really am thinking a cruise might be the way to go. Dh already said he wants to fly to Iowa in July to see family and the baby would be around 2 months so pretty little. That’ll be a good test trip too

Didn’t see this answered but yes you can and its free! They dont even care if its your relative and you can do it online. That offer for the Surpass should be higher online incognito or via referral I think though. Its certainly low for that card.
Thank you. I made a mistake. It’s not the surpass it’s the no af Hilton...not sure what’s it’s called. I think a 100k points is good for that card if not mistaken. I’ve got a bonus on the no af Hilton 10 plus years ago. I’m not sure I’d qualify, but my dog got the mailer and he has never had a Hilton card. I don’t know why the sent me one.
I need more Hikton points for Europe next summer. No AF and 1k spend. It seems seems painless enough.Mailer offers good until 12/31

I had the spend Lowe's 15% Amex offer up to $15 on my BBP card and 4 other AU cards in the name of family members. The first Lowe's I went to had the cashier giving me a hard time about purchasing Disney GCs with a credit card. I was very polite but asked to see the manager since I've always purchased them with a cc before. The manager confirmed that the restriction was only on cash equivalent cards, not Disney GCs. The store still limited the purchase for 2 transactions and no more than $200. I had to drive to another Lowe's to use the Amex offers on the other cards.

It's time to start my yearly save 10% or more, earn 5x MRs or more, earn 5x URs or more or make an MSR by purchasing Disney GCs to pay my upcoming DVC dues. So far I've saved $75 with the Lowe's offers and earned 600 MRs. Last month's Staples offers earned me 4450 MRs. Long way to go before January rolls around.
I have a 4X extra on Sam’s club on my personal Amex everyday card. But I wasn’t thinking that was the best deal on Disney gift cards. Maybe it is right now?

Life is funny. And we usually want to do things different than our parents did them. Neither dh or I liked being an only child. We didn’t have parents that doted on us as onlies though. Both of us were left alone a lot and both always wished we’d had a sibling. So, that was important to us.

I've never wished for a sibling, I was always good playing by myself until I was old enough to make friends with the neighbors or have friends over/go to their house. I started preschool at 3 and my mom stayed at home until I was in 2nd/3rd grade. My two younger cousins and all their arguing etc on a trip to visit with them one year made me not want more than one, which I still hope to do someday.

I think a lot of it is more personality - being an introvert or extrovert than anything. I've always been good with and enjoyed my alone time. I'm sure I would have adapted had there been a sibling after me but I don't know that I'd have liked it :rotfl2:

Has anyone applied for or have experience with the US Bank Business Cash Rewards card? I’m going to need new MSR soon and from a quick look it seems like a decent option. I have 2 US Bank cards and a checking account (from a prior promo of course). $500 bonus after $4500.

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/u-s-bank-business-cash-rewards-500-sign-up-bonus/

I recently got this card. US Bank is my regular bank, it took almost a week for approval and I was given a $500 credit limit (I remember someone else posting who got the same limit). I called about a week or so after I got the card about increasing my limit, she asked some questions about annual sales and other assets and then told me I would be notified in writing. After about a week or so I called again as I hadn’t heard anything and was told it was approved the day after I called but something had gotten hung up in the system. They did do another hard pull when I requested the increase (so I had 2 hard pulls within a couple weeks for this card). They increased my limit to $15,000.

Thank you for the information. I read a few folks getting a $500 limit on Reddit and the fact you can only cycle your credit limit once per statement (pay off bill mid cycle so you can charge another $500). Did you apply as a business or “business”?

DH and I are both onlies too. Do you know how rare we are as couples?! :)

That makes three sets of two-only couples on this thread. My husband and I are both onlies, too! We both liked it and that (plus a spirited DD) led is to only have one.

Same! My DH didn’t wish for a sibling either. For us it was probably the family dynamics and enjoying the mix of time with friends and time alone.

I'm an only and I always wanted a sibling, preferably older ( :rotfl2:) but that wasn't going to happen. I was smothered as an only and having an independent willful personality meant a lot of clashes with my mother in particular. I wanted a sibling to help deflect some of this. Of course, I reaped a lot of benefits of being an only that I wouldn't have gotten had I had a sibling. I wanted more than one child so that they would have that shared life experience with another person that you don't have as an only. I would have liked more than two but that was how it worked out.

I will say, I miss not having a sibling more as an adult than I ever did as a kid. There is no one to have those shared memories "remember when we..." with at family dinners. It also means that all the decisions that come with taking care of aging parents is on me.

You end up toting so much stuff with you so yes, IMHO a cruise would be so much easier.

I do have a small network marketing business- mostly for personal use so not a lot of sales.

I'd take that deal. It's a total of 5x MR plus 4% savings for the $50 GC for $47.98 or $75 pack for $71.98. I'd also purchase in separate transactions in order to make sure I hit 20 transactions for the month on the ED card and earn that 20% MR kicker.
