Omg are you my twin? My dd was the worst baby ever and ds was an angel. Now dd is an amazingly sweet, easy 16 year old and ds is driving me to an early grave!
Haha, my ds was a preemie and colicky, but once he outgrew that he was great. DD was a NIGHTMARE baby and toddler!!!!!! She would have been an only if she was my first. But once she got over that, she was wonderful. She was a great teenager, and I would much rather have the crabby little one than a cranky snotty teen.
I do somewhat agree that non mobile babies are much easier to travel with than the ones that can move.

Can someone help me figure out my luggage dilemma? We are thinking new luggage for Christmas. We have 2 types of trips planned coming up- flying that will involve checked bags and hauling carseats on the plane, and long road trips. I want 1. A nice hardsided checked bag for flying. 2. Easy to grab and carry luggage for in and out of the car while wrangling baby and toddler 3. Something that fits under the seat on the plane and is easy to carry in an airport.
I like stuff that packs a lot and I use packing cubes.

What would you bring? Specific reqs of a piece you love would be great!
I'm a big fan of Samsonite hardsided luggage to check. We have 4 pieces, three we bought as a set from Sam's and one we bought from Kohl's on clearance.

My wife is now obsessing about a Samsonite underseat from eBags that has a sleeve to put on top of a regular carryon. I will probably buy it for her for Christmas.

Traveling with infants is very much "it depends". With DD we could not, even when we had SW points to fly, DVC to use and an AP for park administration, we just couldn't even imagine it. She was a *very* difficult baby. She literally almost killed us, we were like army buddies in the trenches for 4 months. We *never* slept. She never slept and wouldn't eat. We didn't fly with her until she was a year, and then we found out she gets sick on planes and she puked on us repeatedly for several trips.

With DS, he was a happy sunny baby from Day 1. I could have taken him anywhere. We started flying with him at 7mo.

They've now flipped and DS is a more challenging kid to raise and DD is a sweetheart, but that's a whole other story. And we use kids dramamine and bracelets for flights!
You’ve described my oldest two kids to a T. We thought we weren’t gonna survive this parenthood thing because dd19 was such a fussy baby and never slept and wouldn’t eat. The ER people got to know us well because she’d refuse to eat for such long stretches. DD17 was a dream baby in every sense of the word. Loved to eat and sleep and just always smiling. People would ask me if she ever cried and I could honestly say ‘nope’. Our oldest turned into a dream teen. And well, dd17, there’s a bit more teen angst with her lol.

We basically repeated this with our boys. You just can’t imagine how much babies vary in every way.

We could not travel with 1 or 3 but could with 2 and 4 lol!

We waited 3 years between kids because DD was ~20 months before I could even contemplate another baby. For a while I thought we were one and done!

We considered not having another also!! But we’re both onlies and really wanted to give her a sibling. I was always so jealous of others with easy babies. Heck I still am. Dh and I can be sitting in church and see people who have a baby that just sits in the carrier and sleeps the entire service. We still will look at each other and laugh (now we can laugh 😆)

My nephew had colic and had some rough months as a baby but he’s such a great kid now

I got the Disney Premier Visa at the beginning of the year. I generally use it only for the 2% categories. I just redeemed a little over $700 in rewards.

I've had an AMEX Delta Platinum for several years that I charge just about everything else to. I think the greatest benefit to the card is the companion pass. However, Delta has and continues to devalue their miles. I booked a Disney Cruise in February out of New Orleans. I used my companion pass. I also redeemed miles...42,000 miles roundtrip to go from Atlanta to New Orleans...in February...two weeks before Mardi Gras.

The International Affairs school at GWU is amazing. We also thought the new engineering building was very impressive and a huge selling point for her. She wants a single room at her top choice in Ontario (67% of undergrads at the school get single rooms).
Hope she gets it! Many of the dorms at Case were suite-style, so I had a common living area and bathroom but my own room with desk, bed, etc.

Mine are almost exactly 3 years apart too...born 9/23 and 9/25...
but my first ...DS was easy..slept through the night the first week home...napped a lot....
my DD was born with a cleft palette...and had ear issues...etc related to that....lots of pain/crying/not sleeping.....had tubes at 3 months old and the roof of her mouth repaired at 9 months....her ears still bother her even now at 29 sometimes on flights

DH and I are both onlies too. Do you know how rare we are as couples?! :)

I saw this on a deal site. I’m not a SW person (yet) but a lot of people here. I don’t know if this is a good deal or the usual.

Get up to 20% off select rooms at Disney Resort Hotels during the holiday season when you apply the code WDWRESORT during booking at Southwest Vacations. The discount applies to vacation packages, which include round-trip flights on Southwest Airlines and nightly accommodations. The offer is for stays ending on or before 12/24. Plus you can save $20 on Disney Theme Park tickets when you add a three-day or longer admission to your vacation package. Taxes, fees, and exclusions apply.

Life is funny. I was one of four and the 2nd oldest with a sister 17 months younger and I always only wanted one or none for kids because being a middle child sucked. My older brother would get punished for something and then I would have to wait to be able to do whatever but my sister would then get it to it at the same time as me or right on time, like driving. And I hated it. I always just wanted one who I could focus solely on. DS would occasionally ask for a sibling but I think he realizes how good he has it as an only.

Plus he was a dream baby so he made my life simple as an older parent. Of course, he is now testing my patience. But so sweet at times.

I could have written this same post about our 2 DDs! Our 20 year old still gets sick on planes and takes Zofran for the flights and boat rides.
