I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

No Marriott offer on any of our cards. I guess that's better than having it on the wrong card... maybe it will magically show up on his Brilliant by Sunday lol.

It's a bank account bonus that @gottalovepluto linked to. You'd open a biz checking account, deposit some money, do a couple tasks and then they'd pay you the $500 bonus. Just have to keep the account open for 6 months before closing to not get the bonus clawed back.

Since this has to be opened in branch to get the bonus, it's suggested to look for pre approved credit card offers while you are there. Occasionally it's a better offer than a public one but for people under 5/24 it's not a necessity. A true pre-approved offer will bypass the 5/24 rule, so for some opening a card in branch is the only way to get a Chase card. But always check while you're there cuz you because you never know when they'll get a special offer, doesn't hurt to ask. (If you already have a biz card they'll see your account anyway, the checking account gets added to your existing login; at least in our experience)
Okay that makes more sense. Thanks! I think Dh and I both might do this.

We aren’t worried about getting pre-approved for any cards so might not worry about that part right now. Will they look at our accounts, see CIPs, and ask questions?

Wait...did you just mention...T.P.G. - my archnemesis...

Ok Ok...but to answer your question - I guess there's CapitalOne travel eraser cards that could do what you want with tickets. Truthfully, URs are just so easy to obtain in large quantities that I think the best move is to cash out URs. Some people on the thread right now are just earning URs faster than they can use them (especially those in 2 player mode). If you cash out your URs and buy discounted Disney gift cards with them you can almost bridge the gap between the 1.00cpp cash out and the 1.50cpp travel portal. On top of that, buying your Disney Tickets outright (via the discounted GCs) allows you to put that spend towards a new MSR which provides a further opportunity bridge that gap.

EDIT: And your assumption about booking direct with Disney and discounts is correct too. You can book direct with Disney, take advantage of their promotions, and pay it off with Discounted Disney GCs obtained while working on an MSR - basically triple dipping those savings and cashing out URs to cover the remainder. For my January trip I'm doing a split stay with AA miles for the 2nd half covering that hotel and cashed out URs covering the first half. It just worked out best for our plans and preferences.

Sorry for mentioning the devil. Didn’t know he was so despised in these parts. Not a follower of his by any means. Just found he had some articles about saving at Disney that I found.

Here's a first world problem from the hypocrite who told @wendow it's nobody's business how you spend your own money... 😉

How do you not feel pretentious travelling well/often?

My family does not do as well financially as DH and I to begin with (life choices in most cases), so even an annual Disney trip seems excessive to them. I am looking at 9 days Hawaii, 2+ weeks WA State/Alaska and a week at Disney next year. Those are 3 bucket list trips for most people. I'm maximizing discounts and points to make it happen, but I'm still embarrassed to tell friends (let alone family!) we are looking at WA/AK next summer. It feels pretentious to talk about it, and I never want to be "that person".
Except for close friends/family who know my money habits and now the credit card game I generally don't bring up trips or vacations unless asked. But when it does come up lately I do feel the need to tell them about signing up for credit cards. Because you're right, it does feel a little weird, but honestly we traveled more than most people we know even before this hobby. But most people have more expensive/nicer houses than me as well.

Don’t worry - it’s just a running joke...founded in a deep disdain for the shill that he is ...but really it’s cool! 😛 🤣

agree with you.....SW does not have to offer CP.....and there are other ways they could of changed it....not allowing the sign up bonus to count would of hurt more......for him to do a write up over having to earn 15k more RR points seems like a sense of entitlement.....
That said I understand people made plans based on earning 110k RR points and it’s disappointing....but it’s not a right
TPG calls it "nefarious" :rotfl2:

Got the Marriott on my ED but not the Bonvoy.... yet.

Also got a Save 15% at gas stations up to $5, expires 12/31.

I'll be stacking that with the Spend $40 get 400 MR points. Little things add up.
Likewise. I got the Marriott offer on my Platinum and BBP, but not on my Bonvoy Brilliant where I've already added the Marriott luxury brands offer and hope to stack for my December stay at the Royal Hawaiian. I'll hold off on adding the Marriott offer for a few days to see if it gets targeted to the Bonvoy cards.

Hey guys. There's a way to put the Amex offer onto the card (if it's a 3rd party card) you want. I read about it on DoC this year. I'm getting the "Sorry about that! It doesn't happen often, but offers are currently unavailable. Please try again later" message right now, but I was able to put a Marriott offer on my Brilliant card back in March.

Go to American Express Connect , pick your offer that you want and enter the details of the card you want to put it on. It's worth a shot if it doesn't show up on the card you want!

Cool! I'm getting that message too right now but will keep trying all weekend... Thanks!

Thanks to @kmc8826 for sharing the 20% discount is back for dvc merch, I finally bought the DVC dooney purse I've been wanting! It's been a huge internal struggle cause I don't spend that kind of money on myself. It ended up being 50% off and I still struggled lol! Yay, getting my first Dooney purse :jumping1:

I'm not sure I'd give him credit enough to call him the devil but I do consider him a necessary (sorta, kinda) evil, so close enough. :)

Personally I think he and the sites under his umbrella aren't a bad resource tool, but just always, always, always take what they say with a grain of salt and find other corroborating sources when it comes to CC recommendations. Being in bed with the CC and other travel companies does get them advanced info and other insights, which is helpful, but it comes at a price. It generally means they hawk whatever card gets them the most commission at the time even if it's a terrible offer. And they really try to sell it like it's a great offer and you'd be silly not to go for it. Which what I think most take umbrage with. (Probably next egregious is all the click bait titles... nefarious, really??...)

I don't necessarily follow them either but they do come up in a lot of searches when I'm researching so I read their view and combine it with others. Then probably ask here what people's actual experiences have been. The blogs can only go so far off the letter of the law, so to speak, with what you can do with a card or benefit. People with experience can tell you what really happens in practice.

If anyone cares, here's my take on them from a question about what blogs do we follow:

Thanks for the tip! I confess I thought about that trick but I was short on time this morning (and feeling a bit too lazy) to go searching DoC's site for that link. So thanks again for pulling it up!

I'm showing that the new Marriott offer is available on multiple (of my Bonvoy) cards, but when I try to add it to my Brilliant to stack with another offer, I'm also getting the "Sorry about that! It doesn't happen often, but offers are currently unavailable. Please try again later" message.

Like @amalone1013, I will keep trying!

Question regarding Amex Delta Biz cards, my brain is fried! We were stuck in MCO all day trying to fly to JFK-SEA because of winds in the NE. We fly to SEA regularly to see my son's college football games, so we want to fly direct and hopefully bypass weather conditions and Delta would be the best fit. Any comments/recommendations on which card would fit best for us? We are a party of 3. Thank you :)

I agree with @gottalovepluto that the Plat Biz might be the best fit. I look at the Blue as one to downgrade too (and it is only the personal). The Golds (biz and personal) are good for the miles only and then can downgrade and then close. The Plats (and DH and I both have personal and business) are keeper cards. The AF is high but includes a companion certificate every year. Only domestic flights, but if your goal is to just get to SEA that would work. The AF is going up come January so now is a good time to apply. With the companion certificate you would buy one flight, pay taxes on the other, and then could use miles on maybe the third flight. Flying 5 regularly to MCO I usually do some combination of that. Let me know if you have any other questions. I am in WDW now so mention me if you do so I don’t miss it. :)

This comment you made really resonated with me. TPG's now infamous "nefarious" headline isn't about how Southwest treated customers... It's a mini-tantrum over the fact that TPG did NOT get advance notice of this change. They are upset because they could not control the narrative here.

How often recently have we seen TPG actually break major news for Chase, Marriott, etc. Chase currently has ads on their app and site reminding you to vote in TPG awards. I think part of the consternation here might be crying over the fact that SW didn't choose TPG as their messenger pigeon on this one.

...food for thought...

And I agree with pretty much everything else you said there too. I'd read TPG for information but I would NEVER EVER in a thousand years use a link from that site to sign up for a card.

Here is a DP on those with Delta Vacation reservations. We had a trip planned for Christmas and paid for the insurance - 3 roundtrip tickets and 2 nights in expensive hotel for $2,100. We ended up moving the dates up to last weekend and changing to 2 roundtrip tickets/2 nights in a cheap hotel (which we didn't use). They told over the phone that they would cancel the 1 unused roundtrip ticket and I would get a voucher for the difference. I called yesterday since I hadn't received a voucher and was told the voucher for $489 was mailed and should be here in a few days. So the tickets purchased at the last minute ending up around $633 each ($2,100 - $144 insurance - $489 voucher - $200 hotel/2). My ticket was $1,325 for the same flights! I will definitely be looking into booking through Delta Vacations again.
Did you have to pay $200 to change the flight? Or was that waived?

DH SW Performance Biz just came in the mail. Just in time as we leave tomorrow for Orlando and then our four day cruise on Royal Caribbean. So I'll be testing out the multiple WiFi purchases in one day. My kids will think I'm the best. And I may have to try for at least one upgraded boarding since I forgot to check in right at 24 hours and ending up in C

Thank you to all who contribute here!!! We never would have taken this cruise without this hobby. Flights with SW RR and 2 CP, 167,000 UR for two interior rooms for a 4 night cruise. I still have 8 visits left from a 10 day non-expiring Disney ticket so we will probably go to a water park tomorrow or Sunday. Part of me wants to go to a park, but I only have 4 days left since we were just there in Feb and March I think we'll skip it this time. It's been raining a lot the past month here, so I am really looking forward to some sunshine!!

I used our $15 off $75 Amex offer from Macys. THEN they email me they are shipping things separatly and the charges would show as separate purchases. NOOOOO. Thankfully the first batch just shipped and its all but a clearance necklace so the total was $77- that was close!

Also weirdly the 15% back at Lowes people got awhile ago just appeared on our Plat and Gold.

Did you have to pay $200 to change the flight? Or was that waived?

The waived the $200 change fee due to the circumstances and we were flying the same city pairs. If you had time and had bought the insurance, I would think you could cancel the reservations, wait for the voucher, and rebook. I am sitting at 10 days since rebooking and haven't gotten the voucher yet, so it isn't a fast process.
