Sorry your filet did not taste right, but I am so glad you enjoyed Le Cellier overall!
The overall restaurant was great! The tables are really close together and it’s dark in there so if that bothers anyone. We were maybe a foot away from the tables on either side of us so pretty close. The best part to me was the breads and our cheese soup. Also the mushroom risotto was to die for

We have really enjoyed Cafe Orleans, as well as Blue Bayou (but overpriced) and also Carnation Cafe (fun location). It's been a few years but there was a Mexican QS place somewhere near Frontierland and also Tortilla Joe's in DTD (but I'm not sure if it's still there now) just in case your boy thinks he is starving. Oh, and Whitewater Snacks at the GCH makes some decent nachos.
I think its Rancho del Zocalo. I remember a long line but good food there.

@elgerber FWIW I flew AA from PHX to Paris (CDG) 2 years ago in Premium Economy on their Dreamliner 787. It was one of the best flight experiences I’ve ever had. Beautiful aircraft, excellent service, and flights on time. I’m planning to fly with them again next year to Rome. Granted I’ve only flown internationally 2x so I have limited experience, but figured I’d give you one vote of confidence for AA.

Edited to add my other international flight was on Delta in economy. And that was actually a great experience as well.

OK, Delta has thoroughly annoyed me today. If anyone remembers I was asking about booking lie flat through Chase UR portal the other day, and making sure their business class was indeed Delta Lie flat (after calling Delta, confirmed yes it is). So I have been watching daily, waiting for the day our return flight opens to see if they are still offering them roundtrip. As of last night they were, I could have booked round trip, non stop, lie flat 8/29-9/5. Today there are NO non stop lie flat flights at all for the return flights in September. They don't exist. WTH? What if I would have booked that flight, what would have happened then?
I know we all are on board the Graavy train, how many actually use them for flights? They are the next best, and almost only other option we have, but dh says he has heard only bad things about AA. Kenny Wallace of Nascar (dh is a big Nascar fan) had a bad experience and twitter war with them. So I thought I'd see here how you guys feel about them?

Do you have to book RT with Delta? Is it possible that someone booked the seats you wanted? I'm really sorry this happened. I don't remember where you are flying from, but can you use the URs on another airline or extend your trip by a day? I try to be flexible with both dates (I know it's hard) but I want the lie flat seats and I'll stay an extra day if that is what it takes.

I have nothing nice to say about AA. They totally screwed us over in May, treated us terribly, and threw a few thousand miles to us as a "courtesy." DH is flying to Chicago tomorrow and went out of his way to avoid AA. We sold all of our AA GCs because of this. But we did fly to Europe once in first class and it was very nice, but that was years ago. AA has been our go-to airline until recently, when they started fighting with their mechanics and made their customers pay the price for their cost cutting. We are flying United now if we have the choice (and we hate United).

I don't remember where you are flying, but have you also looked at foreign airlines? We've been flying BA and AF the last few years with points, so that may be an option.

Yep, those are the best things about Le Cellier IMHO, but I'm not a huge carnivore. I love the mushroom risotto - DH usually gets the filet and I steal some of his risotto because it's sooooo good.

Yes, that's it. Thank you!

I know there was a lot of toy talk earlier. Did everyone see this at Target?

Did this deal yesterday. Bought a Kozy Koupe for my BFF's daughter for Xmas. Also stacked my special extra 5% off coupon that came with my annual Red Card debit disclosures. Plus the usual 5%. Got the Koupe for $38 all in. Not bad I thought. Plus I went through the United Shopping portal for a couple miles too.

Burned through $1k of my $4k Delta spend buying backsplash materials for the basement bar. I feel like we're hemorrhaging money right now. Our basement is huge so this is a pricey endeavor. We've been working on the basement off and on for 18 months now. Never ending I swear.

I don’t think anybody would disagree that AA miles for flight provides the best return. It’s probably important to point out to some of the newer folks and lurkers on the thread that many people are chasing AA Miles despite the fact that they knew they were NOT going to use them for flights.

I’ve personally earned a lot of AA miles in the past 10 months with absolutely no intention on setting foot inside an American plane. It was a differentiation strategy. A way to hit a different issuer, help with my pacing; etc.

You can do this with lots of points systems though. A thought for people to ponder: have you considered all the different angles for a points system (especially one you’ve dismissed as “not for you”)??
  • SW points can be redeemed for Amazon and Target gift cards at 1cpp.
  • AMEX MRs can be redeemed for Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond at 1cpp.
  • URs can be cashed out at 1cpp
  • Marriott points can be transferred to airlines at various valuations
  • And of course AA miles can be used for hotels including Disney and Universal at 0.85 - 1.00 cpp
While none of those are the optimal value play, depending on your recent cards, strategy, and points balances; they may end up being the best play at that time. Always Be open to alternate redemption strategies!
Totally understood. Since I don't churn or MS I'm trying to get the max value out of the points I do earn. I do have 20k Delta points that are worthless to me. I'll never fly Delta again. I'm not sure what to do with them. I plan on closing that card as soon as AF posts.

To clarify 😀 we are in Minneapolis. Delta no longer has the return flights that were yesterday. I called and they are gone. No explanation why. No one else flows direct or lie flat from here. And the only other reasonable option with lie flat and only one stop is American😞. I could do Hawaiian on the way back but I really wanted an overnight and we would also have to use a third airline after that because they don’t fly here. Last night I thought we were all set and now I am all sorts of confused and frustrated. Hawaiian to Phoenix and then SW home may be the best now but we will lose 3/4 of a day in Hawaii.

Could you do a short flight to another Delta hub and from there go to Hawaii on the seats you want? I realize that isn’t ideal but staying with one airline seems easier.

The only other city that has the seats in September is Atlanta. That is 42500 more for each ticket plus the points to get home from there so I don’t know that’s worth it. It’s a longer flight time overall that way. I will work something out, I am just annoyed that delta listed them then removed after getting me all excited.

I actually was going to ask for something besides the risotto because I didn’t think I would like it. I’m so glad I made myself get it. I could go there just for that lol

Award availability can disappear in minutes but it sounds like the flight isn’t showing as an option at all on the Delta site (for cash)? Which means they cancelled or changed the type of aircraft for that flight.

Nothing out of Detroit?

I would try to rework your dates. Even by a couple days. I know SLC, SEA, LAX have a ton of Delta flights to the Hawaiian airports. Seems like you could find something. Just a thought.

no the flights are just gone. They took them all off. I confirmed with Delta.

Nope they connect in Atlanta. Helpful isn’t it? 😜

We would have to rework by weeks. Believe it or not none of those cities have lie flat which is what we really wanted for this splurge and we really want to be there for our actual anniversary. I can still get there non stop lie flat I just have to find a new way home, I will make something work.
part of my desire for lie flat is I have major issues with leg swelling on flights so that will help a lot.

Oh, I had forgotten it was a trip to Hawaii. I'm sorry they took the flight away (happens to us here but it's the ones to MCO that disappear).

See? Trying new things is good! It's just a short grain starchy rice with yummy things added in. Most of the risotto I've tried has been delicious. I could just order that LOL. The soup there is sooooo good, though, so I tend to get that.

Also not trying to be negative I am really just not seeing anything. If anyone sees something I am missing I would gladly admit I am wrong 😜. Looking for MSP to Honolulu, lie flat for the longest part of the trip, max of one stop, Aug 28/29 to Sept 7th. Have SW miles and CP to position to a non stop to Honolulu but SW only flies direct from here to a few cities.
