OK. so here goes....I read the first page and willing to throw my info out there if someone is willing to help:

Have any applied for one credit card in the past 2 years: 09/19 - BANK OF AMERICA MERRILL LYNCH Corporate card
Spouse and I have the Citi Thank you Preferred credit card (I have this for years)

  1. We used to put everything on our credit card but have recently been using debit as we can get 2% cash back on checking account (limit up to 25K). Otherwise, gas, tolls, groceries, purchases...all on CC.
  2. We pay our CC off each month in full
  3. Fly out of PHL
  4. I am part of AA frequent flyer program and current job will require flight travel 2-3x a year. hotel stays 4-5 times a year (some travel is local)
  5. Southwest DOES service my airport
  6. Marriott and Hilton Honors member
  7. not sure if I have any travel points (most likely NOT as I have had 2 flights to date).
  8. Goal - free hotels or flights to WDW or wherever
  9. Travel party - spouse and child (age 7)
Anxious for the advice but not sure I can keep up with the thread!

When I booked economy award tickets with the excursionist perk over the summer, we weren’t able to choose seats on the 2 Air Canada segments. I think I read on Flyer Talk that you could PM Air Canada through Facebook messenger and ask for seat assignments. So I tried that and put all the info in for what we wanted and a CSR set us up with seats that fit with my requests. It took a day for them to get back with me. Not sure if it would be different for business class seats.

I booked on Air Canada using United miles in economy and they let me select seats. I can’t remeber if it was during the booking process or later using the Air Canada confirmation number they also provided. For both flights we have the first row of regular economy and we’re all seated together.

I posted this before with no responses but need a little help with DLR planning.
I’d like to have 1 or 2 ADRs. DS is good with a character meal (no princesses) and wants Mickey and Pluto. Does Goofy’s have Mickey & Pluto?
Thoughts on parades? Any shows? We will likely do WOC dessert party, we did last time.
Must do’s? Tagging @Lain @gottalovepluto and @Albort for any help you can offer.
I haven’t done a character meal in years :( I do recall reading Goofy’s had gone to having the Fab Five a while back so if still accurate you’d be covered. Plaza Inn is known for “unique” characters, I believe @wendow hit that one up on her trip earlier this year?

Also when did this become a thing?! PCH Grill’s Calitalian Dinner Buffet (no characters). Hadn’t heard about that one...

My must do is Blue Bayou but it’s not cheap. The atmosphere is just so immersive (book for lunch at 11:30pm so you can get close to the water in the first seating) I really feel like I’m at Disneyland once I’m there. My parents brought us there starting around 5yo but only you know if your kid will be good with it.

WOC dessert party is the best! It’s the only show we do because my family won’t physically stand to watch shows and a couple of us have crowd issues anyway. I hear SWL is a nice place to see fireworks if you don’t care about projections and music. I’ve also heard Rancho del Zocalo is nice to sit down and enjoy fireworks from (no projection view).

My DD is asking for a doll house. I think I might get the huge one at Costco. She also wants a battery powered princess carraige ride-on vehicle. She has outgrown her small battery powered vehicle she got her first Christmas, so maybe will do that too.
Otherwise she really likes baby dolls and pretending right now...little people sets, dress up, etc.
I got them a doll house 2 years ago. They have all the stuff that's out there. Large, extended family plus hand me downs on top of that as daughters best friend had kids a couple years before her. We have a set of tricycles at their house and another at mine. It's really getting to be too much stuff, but at their age they have to have things to open.
They love baby dolls also.

Glad you got the filet! I didn’t weigh in the other day, but their filet is probably the best steak I’ve ever had!
Mine actually wasn’t great but I still ate most of it. I ordered it medium well and it had a char on it which I don’t like. Dh got his medium and said his was delicious. He tried mine and said they tasted completely different.

We decided on a 5 night on the Disney Wonder and Disney World days are TBD because now my SILs and nephews may come!! They’d be Disney virgins mostly!
Also congrats again @Haley R and fam!! I am also glad I no longer have to worry about slipping hahaha
Haha thanks for keeping it a secret and helping me with the cruise stuff! I got a long sleeve swim shirt which should work great for mosquitoes. My legs will just have to get sprayed a lot because I’m not wearing pants.

Have fun on your cruise!

Used my bofa deal at michaels. Got an email about thr michaels offer already, hoping that extra 10% for retail today tracks as well but there wasn't anything about it.

@DisneyMandC were you able to use yours? Did you get anything about the extra% off?

My first recommendation is a Chase Sapphire Reserve and/or an American Express Gold Card. Both currencies are transferable to multiple airlines and hotels. Good benefits for their cost. I used the SUB from my Gold card to get my entire family of 4 to WDW next month and am using the ongoing earn to take my wife to Paris, hopefully first class, in 2021.

I'm not flying Air Canada. It's Austrian. Ive got ticket numbers but Austrian website just won't let me look tor tickets.

If I ever go to Le Cellier you better believe that my steak will be MOOING!!! LOL!! I'd go full rare there! (I totally understand why someone such as yourself, currently...cannot do that though, lol!)

Lol normally I would get medium but I went with medium well to be on the safe side. I do like a little more pink in mine than medium well. I would never go above medium though. Dh and I agreed we could go back just for the cheese soup again

I'm right there with you. I'm starting to plan meals now and 1-2 ADRs seems about perfect for my crew. From what I've read, I think Cafe Orleans and a gluten free Monte Cristo is a must.

My biggest hold up is the boy who's diet currently consists of taquitos, mini tacos, Amy's frozen enchiladas and Chipotle. This kid may just starve.
Were not big ADR people even in WDW. Last time we did a late breakfast at Storyteller’s in GCH. I think Blue Bayou is too much $$. We did have beignets at Cafe Orleans but that’s it. But there’s so much yummy food even without ADRs.

Went by Staples today and picked up a $50 Disney GC! No variable load and I didn’t want to get $100. I had an offer specifically for double cash back today that I had to add- did you have that?

It was the double cash back, I'd thought it was another 10%. The Michaels I had was 10% up to 5 so I got a $25 starbucks and $25 dis to get 5 back and am hoping it doubles for the 10. Seems like it's not a one time offer that it's good all day so maybe it won't track until after the day is over. Combined with the Amex I'm at 30 back on 150 in gc so I'm still doing well but the extra 5 would be nice.

We did do plaza inn! We met Minnie, Pooh, Eeyore, chip, dale, Rafiki, Captain Hook, geppetto and Max. Our complaint was that we were at a later breakfast time and they tried to rush us plus they sat us outside and the characters didn’t cone to us. We had to go ask several times if they could send them out to us. There was one other party outside (also had 4 kids) and everyone else was inside. The characters just seemed to be focused on inside guests. So that was disappointing but we would still do the breakfast again. Just an earlier time!
