I was busy this morning. DH applied for and was approved for the Hyatt card (thank you @DisneyMandC ) and I booked our European trip in business class for 260k United miles and $280 round trip. The connections are a bit wonky, but doable (I hope). Does anyone have any idea how to book seats on partner airlines?

When I booked economy award tickets with the excursionist perk over the summer, we weren’t able to choose seats on the 2 Air Canada segments. I think I read on Flyer Talk that you could PM Air Canada through Facebook messenger and ask for seat assignments. So I tried that and put all the info in for what we wanted and a CSR set us up with seats that fit with my requests. It took a day for them to get back with me. Not sure if it would be different for business class seats.

Congratulations! How exciting! I had zero idea (not that I follow super closely every day) so as far as I'm concerned you're tops at keeping secrets :thumbsup2

Hey, does this mean you get a silver medal in the unofficial DISchurners baby challenge? (Didn't someone else announce a baby arrival fairly recently?)
I think I lost track. I believe one of the gents already had his and one of the ladies has one on the way. So I think that makes her #3. @Lain what does your magical spreadsheet say?

MY ORIGINAL QUESTION "On one of my Amex cards I have a spend $500 get $100 back at Universalorlando.com. It says it excludes single tickets, but has anyone who has added this offer to your Amex account had success receiving the credit for ONLY tickets? I know there has been several variations of this offer and just wondering of anyone has had success. "

So to report back. I went through the link on the Amex page and bought 3 of the tickets I needed. It came out to about $535. I did NOT get the "Congrats you used your offer" email that is normal. It posted as UNIV STUDIOS ONLINE TICKETS. I called a couple days later when the credit didn't post and asked the agent if I did qualify, as the offer was set to expire. She put me on hold to research. 10 minutes later she came back on and connected me to someone who was an agent that handles these offers. He said normally I'd have to wait 6-8 weeks but since I've been a member since 1997 yada yada yada he'd expedite. The $100 credit hit my account today.

The offer expires today so anyone who is planning on buying Universal tickets from them and has the offer might as well give it a try. I think I got lucky but didn't have to twist their arm to get them to credit my account. YMMV
That’s awesome. They must have manually credited since I don’t think it is supposed to work.

Well we had a full morning/afternoon and I’m exhausted. We went to the Vineland outlets first. They opened at 10 and we got to the character warehouse at 10:30. It was packed! We waited 40 minutes to check out.

We then went to Epcot for our lunch at Le Cellier and omg was that delicious!!! I’m gonna write a full review later but the mushroom risotto that comes with the filet is amazing. We used those AP gcs (10 of them=$100). The waitress was really happy we had them printed out for her. We paid $30 for our meal +tip. I’d say that’s pretty good! We also picked up our Minnie coasters.

Then we went to Ikea and bought our crib. It just barely fit in my car. The last thing we did was the other outlet but they didn’t have much so we left right away.

Glad you got the filet! I didn’t weigh in the other day, but their filet is probably the best steak I’ve ever had!

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain. I'll have to look into our policy I guess. It's something that's worried me all along (what if there is a strike, etc?) and why we purchase insurance. DH and I don't want to sound dramatic but 12+ hour flights aren't something we are willing to do in economy at this point, but we can't just purchase some of those $10K seats either. I don't insure every trip this way (last month's week in Oslo was one that I didn't insure like this) but those DCL cruises in Europe and the private tours we book over there is another story.

This. I couldn’t agree more. The flights we booked out were about $8700 for both of us. I would never pay real money for that. We also don’t insure all of our trips. Just the big international ones with ABD. We may rethink this moving forward when it comes to the on our own international trips.
