Anyone else rethinking riding the Gondolas?

We were there this past Monday through Wednesday and rode them several times...It was awesome! I really hope that this incident doesn't keep people away from this experience.

Nothing was CRUSHED. Your extreme description is uncalled for. If you choose not to ride, good for you
I agree. I've seen the pictures of the cars that bumped into each other. Nothing was crushed. One shattered window that I'm guessing was probably one of the "open" windows for ventilation as they open outwards.

We will be there in two weeks and staying at AoA. Was really excited to ride the Skyliner. I'm not counting on it being back up and running while we're there though. If it was I probably wouldn't hesitate to ride it. Probably make sure I've used the bathroom beforehand though.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone using the word crushed. I wasn't trying to be "extreme" and I obviously wasn't there. I pulled it from the first-hand account I read.

Maybe "squished between two cars" would've been better choice of words for this forum. :hippie:

According to the poster who was in the first yellow gondola

“We noticed our doors were bent and weren’t shut all he way. There was definitely body damage to our car and several others, including broken vents.”

That’s the result of a stronger impact than a bump.

Not in the least. They'll figure out the problem and fix it and given a choice, I'll take being stuck on the Skyliner over that disgustingly smelly monorail system. We rode them last week and they were amazing.

Hmm, I never thought the monorail was smelly. The thing that would have bothered me the most about this Skyliner accident is it would probably have thrown my carefully timed touring plan out the window. :-)

We rode them last week. My toddler was terrified so we ruled them out then  but now I'm less inclined. I don't really like heights anyways.

My opinion hasn't changed. I wasn't going to ride them before and I'm not going to ride them now. I don't do gondolas, ski lifts, or ferris wheels.

I use to live in Albuquerque and have ridden the Sandia Tram, the longest aerial tram in the US, so ridding this wouldn't bother me in the least. However, since this happened my concern now is, if this were to happen again and they needed to evacuate all the gondolas, how long it take to evacuate everyone? If necessary, how would you evacuate those in gondolas over water? Just thinking aloud. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this is a safe and secure system and I plan on riding it, but thinking out loud.

We're looking forward to riding it when we go in Spring if it's up and going - bound to be 'kinks' and hope they get worked out. The monorail has continuous issues but doesn't seem to slow people down from riding it.

Just wonder how many of the people saying - no way, never - will be in line in the next months, years to ride!! I think it's such a cool way of transportation. We still miss the Skyway ride in MK.
