I disagree. After this it will now be a thrill ride complete with motion sickness and FastPass+ option. This is a form of transportation not an attraction.

So I ride public transportation every day and, just a news flash for those who don't, but someone is going to get stuck at some point. It's going to happen. Disney's transportation system is essentially public transportation so you need to be prepared to be stuck. When I get on the subway I always make sure I use the bathroom before hand. You know why? Because I've been stuck in a tunnel for an hour and a half. I try to make sure my phone or portable charger is good to go also because I also wanted to be entertained while I wait.
I'm not saying its ok to be stuck. I'm saying here's some cautionary advice to consider before you board the gondolas or the monorail. And also, don't hop on with the expectation that it can't happen to you. These people were stuck for 3.5 hours. More than twice as long as that.
Even if some people go to the bathroom before, 3.5 hours is very hard for some people. Especially the elderly and younger population.

As a direct and resale member for 20+ years, this accident will have no affect on sales of RIV, BWV, BCV or people wanting to stay at resorts on the Skyliner just like the fatal accident that occurred with the monorails in the TTC on July 5th 2009 causing people to not buy into DVC resorts on the monorail line.As a resale member, I find this Skyliner mess hilarious. Any sales momentum Riviera had is going to come to a screeching halt just like the Skyliner did.
I'm sure the first move was to get people out of them. Here's an online account from someone who says they were in one of those cars:@Poor Gail I think once we know how the heck it happened, we'll all "feel better". I probably would have dealt with being stuck but I'm not sure my 3 year old would. I'd also prefer to be stuck than evac in a cherry picker. I can deal with being stuck in a flying sky oven, evac in a cherry picker, nope. I'd have them evac EVERYONE ELSE and then choose to wait until the line started moving again.
It looked like the gondolas that stacked up together were all empty. ETA: Although I'm not sure, the only reports we have are from the internets
Based on where I see the windows located, that would have been interesting to see.I would have kicked out one of the side windows and peed out.
Should we take bets on what the compensation will be???
Probably Fastpasses and maybe a gift card.
Did they still run buses from Pop to HS and Epcot for those who didn’t want to use the Skyliner? Or is the Skyliner the only option from Pop to HS and Epcot when the weather is good? We are going to be there in April, wondering about options. Thank you! It’s not an attraction, it’s a form of transportation they’re literally telling you to take instead of buses. I posted this photo the other day from our stay at POP:
I hope the Skyliner is back up and running when we visit in November!
I have a feeling that this incident will have an immediate negative impact on sales. One of RIV’s selling points IS the Skyliner and its easy access to two parks by using it. But people have short-term memories and this will become a distant memory before long. It will just be a blip on the radar after a couple of months. As a direct and resale member for 20+ years, this accident will have no affect on sales of RIV, BWV, BCV or people wanting to stay at resorts on the Skyliner just like the fatal accident that occurred with the monorails in the TTC on July 5th 2009 causing people to not buy into DVC resorts on the monorail line.
