This is probably old news I haven't checked my Amex offers in a couple of weeks. I have 4 points per dollar spent at Sam's club until 12/31 on my Gold card. I'm pretty happy about that. I don't spend a ton of money at Sam's 300.00 or so a month, but I'll take it.

Aspire strategy?
It's the only Hilton card p1 has so I think I want to downgrade to no fee. Is it possible to double dip the resort credit? Or, is there a time limit for downgrading?

My AF should post 3/26 (based on initial posting?). I'd like to use it the first weekend of May, then downgrade. Is this possible?

DVC
I want to book a few nights in December (2020) in a 1BR, looking at the first week right now. Preferences are BLT or BWV. My home resort is Poly so I'd have to book 7mos out, which is May. I have to bank by 3/31. I should bank my existing points, correct? Or, do I use them to book a back up at Poly and try to edit that reservation at 7mos out to get what I want? If banked, can they still be used in May to book something or do I have to wait until August? I've never banked points, I'm always borrowing. This is only my third time using DVC points. I'm really conflicted on how best to achieve this. I'm fairly flexible with my dates at the moment, trying to stay flexible with the room, but I do want something larger than a studio for 5 of us.

@SouthFayetteFan I see you got and laughed at my attempt at humor 😁.

I get it if people don't want to ride it, I get the irritation at the spokesperson too BUT we don't know what happened and we don't know what happened or that what happened at riviera was the cause or did it happen because of another cause we don't yet know.

This isn't a car accident where you can see a picture and probably, but not always, figure it out. Does it suck, yes but so do things like plane crashes and crane collapses and we can guess all we want on those but until we hear from the people that investigate it we don't actually know what happened.

I read the other line was still running, to me that's a good sign. That means there isn't a reason, yet, to stop that one.

In the mean time I need to stop reading the threads and just wait for the actual news because I can't take the Dis-ness of it.

DH's SPG has an upgrade offer, if I upgrade today will I he get the same card number? We leave for a trip on Friday and will need the new card benefitw for the trip.
Not sure if anyone answered but your DHs current card should continue to work until a new one arrives

Wow - this is not a drill people: Jan-Mar Disney discounts are OUT!! Pretty strange to see a Friday release! It seems they did not do the additional 10% for Visa this year though, I'm slightly bummed about that. I'm getting 25% off at Yacht...but I REALLY wanted 35%!!! Haha!! Beggars can't be choosers I guess! Now you all can see one of the few things that will get me out of bed before 9am!

I just saved $626 off our package cost AND I'm getting a $120 Disney Gift Card when we check-in! I'll take it!
Thanks for the heads up? Are there discounts for closer to summer? If so, when are they typically out?

HAHA this makes me laugh, but I do love Reese's! The eggs at Easter are my favorite, then the trees at Christmas. The chocolate to peanut butter ratio is 🔥🔥🔥 Pumpkins and hearts are just ok. I also LOVE the minis that come in a bag and are not individually wrapped (@wendow please don't judge 🤣)
Oh I want to judge you lol but I like Reese's a lot too!!! The Easter eggs are to die for. I'm in agreement on this and I don't like milk chocolate except for these!

Yeah lol - I’m catching up on that thread and recognized a friend! LOL!

I guess for me this Skyliner issue comes down to I don’t need to ride this. I was actually going to go out of my way to experience it. I already was starting to hesitate due to the random stoppages being reported. This just seemed to clinch it for me that perhaps this wasn’t worth going out of my way to experience.

I definitely have a sweet tooth! (again, @wendow please don't judge :rotfl:)

I would do milk chocolate, then white chocolate (gasp), and dark chocolate if desperate, but only if it is cut with something like raspberry to make it sweeter 🤣
C'mon dark chocolate is healthy and delicious!!! Milk and white chocolate just are...neither lol.

Now I am feeling bad I come off so judgy on your sweet tooth. I wouldn't care if I didn't care 😆

White chocolate isn't chocolate.

Holiday reeses are the best but I don't like the minis any more. They don't taste the same to me.

And yet Disney is saying there are 'no reports of injuries'...

But we don't know that there was. Maybe the person was dehydrated or something. That's also not an unusual statement to come out early when it's true or they aren't known.

Eta maybe the person was in a wheelchair etc and that's how they had to get them out until they could get the gondola tona station to get the chair.

I don't claim white chocolate is chocolate...it's just the name people use for that 'stuff' lol. What do you call it?

We don't know that anyone was injured but when people are snapping pics and posting on twitter, and Disney is denying, it just looks so poorly on Disney. I think all Disney is admitting to is a power failure.

Ok, so I'm reading between the lines here, and if your banking deadline is 3/31, that means you have an August UY, correct? Remember, your UY does not determine when you can book. Your UY only determines your points expiration, and as such which "bucket" of points will be used when you make your booking. You can book vacations at any time. The time you want to travel determines your 11 month and 7 month booking windows.

Right now, since we are past August 1, we are in the current UY for August. Absent any banking or borrowing, these current year points will expire on July 31, 2020. Therefore, if you are not planning to travel before July 31, 2020, you should bank your points. This will give those points a new expiration date of July 31, 2021. But do make sure your travel plans don't change - banking points is a final transaction and cannot be reversed.

With regard to your question about booking, since you want to book a December vacation, your 7 month window as you stated is May. Alternatively, you may book your home resort of PVB 11 months ahead of time beginning in January. While 1 BRs are relatively easier to book, BWV is one of the most sought after resorts in all of DVC, and the first two weeks of December are the highest demand period for DVC of the entire year. I would book PVB at the beginning of your 11 month window just to make sure you have a room. Then, in May, you'll be able to edit that reservation at 8 AM EDT on the first day of your 7 month booking window and grab a BWV 1 BR, if it's available. If it isn't, no harm no foul, at least you have PVB and you'll be able to travel when you want. What you don't want to happen is have nothing booked at 7 months and turn up empty handed at 7 months because all of BWV is already booked.

A note about changing your reservation at 7 months - BWV Standard and Boardwalk View are extremely unlikely. At other times of the year, it's easier to get a 1 BR in those categories, but for the first week of December, I would plan on BWV Pool/Garden View and be pleasantly surprised if another category is open.

I hope that makes sense. UY is a tough concept to wrap your mind around, and I find it's very helpful to talk it out. Think of your UY as your calendar year for using a specific bank of points. Feel free to ask more question if you have them!
