New one, so I am out of luck. I was thinking that for our February Florida trip that I we would take the 7:30 pm Jetblue flight to MCO and then just stay at the Hyatt in the airport. I don't really want to burn anymore Hyatt points though, so I was considering using my FN for that. No big deal though, I will either just use my points or take the Tuesday afternoon flight in.
Do you have 12k URs? You could transfer them to book.

Fun Midweek Exercise - How many Cards have you gotten?
Obviously yesterday I shared the exciting news of being approved for my 80th card as a churner. (This does not include the Discover card I got back in 2002 as I wasn't churning then). I'm sure we have some other VERY prolific churners, and others just starting out who are proud of their accomplishments so far. If you aren't able to answer this question - perhaps this is a good time to sign up for an Experian.com free account or CreditKarma and figure out just how many cards you have gotten!

Gotta keep that spreadsheet up to date :D :teacher: :D

Here's a list of questions to answer if you want to participate:

1) When did you begin churning? (feel free to expound on this a little bit if you have details to share)

2) Are you in 1 player mode or 2 player mode?

3) How many cards have you gotten total? (and how many for each player if you are in 2 player mode)

4) IF APPLICABLE: What is one card you have gotten that is somewhat peculiar or not mainstream?

5) Share any other details you think might be fun about your churning efforts.

1) I’ll say really became interested in 2016 with the CSR and the amazing 100k UR bonus.

2) Full time, 1 player. P2 allows, at most, 1 new card/year. P3 and P4 allow 1-2/year so basically I’m doing most if it in P1 mode the majority of the time.

3) I’m not in front of my worksheets so off the top of my jetlagged head I’d estimate I have 22. Broken down-personal cards currently 16 personal/6 biz. Overall I have 10 amex cards-5 personal, 5 biz, 7 personal chase, 2 discover, 2 barclay cards-1 personal and 1 biz, 1 capital one personal. No idea lifetime since I am away from my desk.

4) I don’t think it’s super rare but my Chase RC is probably one not a lot of newbies have since they stopped applications for it a little while ago. It’s so heavy, I love that.

5) I’ve pretty much done everything wrong with churning and learned a lot from my (at times painful) mistakes. I’m definitely a get a card for a bill v. a fomo or must have an MSR at all times -that’s just where I am in life.

I’ve had some amazing trips thanks to this hobby so I’m appreciative to everyone who shares how and what they do!

Yes, those are the kids that are coming.
The tournament is actually in Schaumburg, so we are there Thurs, Fri, Sat pm. Games end Sat pm or Sunday, depending on how they do, so Sunday we could move to a hotel in the city. We will have Sunday afternoon and most of Monday to explore. Flying home from MDW.
I looked at the Bears and Blackhawks and both are away games, unfortuantely. Last trip we did the architectural boat tour which was fun. I'd say museums won't entertain anyone, but open to other ideas.

ETA: @Psychodisney I just saw you replied as well. Here is the info.
When you say Halloween weekend, do you mean the weekend before or after?

Nov 2 checking to BWV for us for 10 glorious nights! Then 5 nights at Dolphin. Absolutely cannot wait!!!

A little nervous as we're flying out of Philly due to southwest dropping Newark. I still need to figure out the parking situation for that.
We just use the economy airport lot at PHL ($11/day) when we park the car. The Parking Spot gets really good reviews from my friends who travel all the time, because (1) work reimburses the pricey cost and (2) they can select a covered spot. I don't know much about other offsite parking places---I know more about BWI.

We take a shuttle when we travel for a week or more since we're only 40-60 minutes from the airport.

1- I kinda started back in 2006 w/ my SPG Biz that I just closed. But I got more serious when the CSR came out. Was that 10/2016?

2- 1p. I'm looking for my 2p, LOL. But let me tell you....dating suck butt!

3- Gah. 15 on my spreadsheet. But I think I have more.

4 - I fell for the damn Spirit MC. But I closed that one.

5- I started this to take the kids and ex-husband to Hawaii. Well now it's how the kids and I travel. It also made a 2 year long distance relationship possible. Which while that is over, I fell in love w/ the area. And now I'm looking to buy a beach/vacation rental property there! So another reason for those business credit cards! I'm DYING to get the damn place now, but I'm trying to hold off till the new year.

Awe, do they not get to trick or treat? That seems like a bad time to have a kid's tournament. But, did you know you get free drinks on SW on Halloween? lol
ooohhhh! I did not know that. nice!

Well the games start friday morning, but we have to all travel thursday. There is a big convention thing set up for everyone starting at 2pm Thursday and our team is meeting at the hotel that pm for a costume party so they will be fine. DD3 did ToT at MNSSHP in Sept, so she is good too.

Booked a weekend in Chicago to see Hamilton in a few weeks. One last hoorah for my companion pass, until it expires in Dec. Though you never know, may squeeze in one more trip. :D

Any favorite hotels in Chicago? I'm leaning towards a Hilton because I have a lot of points. Would rather save my URs. Also have a free Hilton Weekend night. I have free IHG and Marriott night certificates also, but they are for the low value hotels and they all look rather expensive in Chicago.

Any must sees? (besides Hamilton ;))

Just back from Chicago and going back next week, LOL. I've stayed all over Chicago. And just did the Waldorf if you have free hilton nights. I've stayed at the Sheraton on the Water (can't remember the name) it was nice. The W by Navy Pier, The Intercontinental on Mich Ave and the Westin on the river. I say if you're close to Michigan Ave anything you pick will be fine.

As for things to do....I LOVE the Architectural River Cruise. I like Chicago Line Cruises (I've done them all) they offer free cookies and starbucks which is a hit w/ the students. You'll likely see my most fav buildings (the "corn cobs"). Hey, I teach Architecture. The museums are good (art, science and industry). Shedd's aquarium. Hit Millennium Park and see Cloudgate! Navy Pier is touristy, but my students like it. If it's a clear day, do the Sears (I refuse to call it Willis Tower) and go out in the cubes, LOL. There's the Hancock on Michigan Ave too. If you want to venture out and like Architecture, the Frank Lloyd Wright tours are fun. You must eat chicago style pizza. We hit a speak easy last weekend that was interesting (The Violet Room). Shopping obv. There's so much to do. I love Chicago!

Is anybody else running into cashiers at FD and DG who are blown away by the no-fee loads on the green Serve cards? I've had cashiers at both of my favorite locations ask me about this - in a friendly, curious way (they are always very chatty with customers). I've had other customers ask me about it, too. So, I always carefully explain the fee structure on the card, including the monthly charge if you have a balance when your statement closes. I feel like the Serve whisperer in my town. Hopefully it will help others in my area save some money, though.

Can I piggyback on the other Chicago post?

Ds has a tournament there Halloween weekend. Trying to decide if I should go with the other 2 littles b/c now my in-laws are going and we don’t see them a lot. Of course, I bought DH and DS9s flights long ago. Now the return is high. So I’d have to move their return to Monday to add on the rest of us.

Is there anything fun for us to do in Chicago if we have an extra night there? We have been once before, but it was in the summer.

See my post I shared! There's A TON to do in Chicago!

So I did apply for DH, and he got the Amex pop-up. I suspect its because he has an old Gold Biz card sitting out there with zero spend on it (he/we do put spend on his other Amex cards). How much spend (and for how long) does it take to get rid of pop-ups? I'm not sure I want to bother since I was on the fence anyway.

I did about 1.5 mos probably of spend. I put actual spend across all my cards and VCG on some. I think I did $500-1k on each. I have 4 cards.

Yep, I am actually helped the one lady who was complaining about the fees on her Vanilla card. When I was there on Tues, I asked her and she now have a Green card. I reminded her that she needs to make sure it is $0 before the statement closes.

I don’t think it’s super rare but my Chase RC is probably one not a lot of newbies have since they stopped applications for it a little while ago. It’s so heavy, I love that.
Speaking of card weights, we received the replacement for the Marriott Premier ($85 AF) card from Chase. Hubby was sorely disappointed it's plastic! The Marriott was his heaviest card, felt special. He's going to keep using the old one until it gets declined. I'm sure that'll make the vending machine feel special on the every-other-month swipe!

1) When did you begin churning? (feel free to expound on this a little bit if you have details to share)
---Not sure if this counts as churning....but in 2009-2010 I discovered mms site and started with my first 2 Disney cards, which each had $200 bonus- and used it for dining plan. In 2010 I discovered the SWA golden goose and have been flying free or super cheap since then.
2) Are you in 1 player mode or 2 player mode?
2 (sometimes 3)
3) How many cards have you gotten total? (and how many for each player if you are in 2 player mode)
p1,13 ----p2,14 current #. Not sure of how many others we had and canceled, I'm going to guess at least 10 each since 2010.
4) IF APPLICABLE: What is one card you have gotten that is somewhat peculiar or not mainstream?
None? unless Jetblue counts as that....
5) Share any other details you think might be fun about your churning efforts.
I don't consider myself a churner. I just learned to use and maximize cc rewards within my everyday life. Occasionally I use a few MS methods to hit MSR,but that's pretty rare, and definitely pretty low key.
