Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We are on day three of 14 nights staying at Beach Club and absolutely loving this resort! So happy! Staff have all been lovely, my one request was for a full balcony which was met. Not much of a view, but at least it’s private! We ate at Ale and Compass last night and my bf said it was one of the best meals he’s had onsite ever - definitely an improvement from Captains Grill!
It’s room 2534 - less than a two minute walk from main lobby and pretty much right above the secret door to Epcot. The last three years we have stayed in studios so I was worried this would feel small but I can’t notice any difference to be honest. Few photos in case Dee would like them for anywhere :-)

I am wondering if it’s possible to put a tension rod with a blackout curtain in the doorway from entryway to bedroom area in the BCV Studios?

My little one will be sleeping in a crib or mattress in the entryway area and I want to be able to keep the area dark if we are watching TV etc.

If so, do you think a 36” rod will work?

I'm trying to think... When I walked in the door, I was facing the wall which has the mirror/shelf/hooks thing on it. The connecting door to the 1-bedroom was on my right. It seems like there was more than 3 feet between the edge of that wall and the wall where the connecting door was.

I wasn't able to find an image online. Maybe try youtube and see if anybody has done a video tour of the refurbished studios? I don't look at those because they make me dizzy when people film as they walk.

It's a bit blurry but this is a fair representation of the area you are referencing. You might want to check the room view threads as well. I have posted views from other studios on there. This was room 259.

Instead of a rod and curtain, you may want to consider the temporary paper pleated shades, which have an adhesive strip across the top for fastening. They are available in both light filtering and room darkening versions at places like Home Depot, as well as online. They come in a 36” x 72” size, which can be trimmed with a scissor; using the adhesive strip; two can be joined for a wider or longer opening. They are inexpensive and light weight. The collapsed size is 36” wide x about 1” high. As it is just paper, you can dispose, if you like, when checking out, or just pack in your bag to re-use at another time.

I understand the need for some privacy and to let the little ones sleep. Please don't use anything sticky that will mark up the walls or ceiling. Adhesive can easily pull off paint and wallboard. If you really need that much privacy, maybe a one or two bedroom villa should be considered.

The adhesive strip across the top of the temporary shade does not remove paint nor damage any wall surface. It sticks the same way that tan painter's tape sticks - it is neither permanent nor destructive. I would never suggest a product that could even remotely cause damage.

To add onto what @natebenma said for the parent of the child who likes Mac & Cheese and hot dogs - I wonder if they sell the single-serving Mac & Cheese cups in the Beach Club Marketplace or the Yacht Club's Market at Ale & Compass. You do not have to store it in the fridge. You just add water and microwave. I think it's called Easy Mac.

Maybe somebody who is going to YC/BC before you could check to see if this is sold there.

Also about the hot dogs - if your kid doesn't like the buns toasted, that would make it even easier to prepare in your room (if you get a microwave) or at the microwave in BC Marketplace.

Ah yes, the, in room, preparation of the hot dogs... Back in the olden days on the Disboards, the pioneers on the budget board had a recipe book goin' for all the different concoctions one could make for an in room dinner extravaganza, chief amongst them "Coffee pot hot dogs"!

I like how if you were especially "Culinary" you'd remember to steam the buns on the top, just like a 4 star chef!

Of course what are hot dogs without the baked beans!

I like how this Sous Chef gussied up the Campbell's with an exotic blend of ketchup and mustard... which was no doubt liberated from the condiments bar at the budget friendly Pecos Bill's quick service in the Magic Kingdom. Why heck, if you looked hard enough you might even find a free mushroom in there, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Sadly we now have Cuisinart "Pods" for the in room coffee machine... which begs the question: " Does Cuisinart make hot dog pods?

Follow me on this one for a minute....

Just think of it. You could toss some hot dog pods in your luggage, and after a busy day at the parks, you could save a ton of money by brewing up some delicious dogs in the comfort and convenience of your hotel room! With all the weird versions of hot dogs that Casey's Corner is trying to pawn off on us (plant based, kimchi slathered, pancake batter dog I'm looking at you!) it's no wonder that people are turning to their coffee pots for comestible comfort.

So picky eater's rejoice!! Your Cuisinart is there for you in your most desperate hour of need.

PS. I'm beginning to understand that one possible reason for all the "security" (theater) room checks is to root out all the Cuisinart Cowboys who are rustling up some grub as a side hustle to make some money when not touring the parks. If you find yourself tempted, I highly recommend using the recipes in the Budget Board's cookbook entitled: "When the Disney Disney Dining plan is not for you, your Cuisinart will have to do!", available on Amazon.

I just got into a studio today. I will try to find out the dimensions for you.

On another note we have shampoo etc (we have a cash reservation)...

We also saw the characters playing beach volleyball. Goofy seems the most talented. It was awesome watching them high five the kids.

I've never really researched this before, so pardon my ignorance, but what are the real benefits of Club Level? Why would I as a resort guest pay about $200 or so extra per night for a Club Level room? What should I use to determine if this is a valuable option for our next trip? We are planning YC or BC. TIA for all input and opinions!

From a pure financial perspective, it will never really make financial sense to stay CL - generally speaking. It’s mainly just an up-charge/slightly upgraded overall experience that some may or may not find worthwhile and is not a good fit for some WDW touring styles. We normally stay CL so below are some ramblings about why it works for us.... none of these are “earth shattering” amenities, but cumulatively they add a bit of convenience to our stays:

- Lounge offerings during the day - breakfast, mid-day snacks, evening apps, desserts, plus coffee/soda/beer/wine available at all times. For us, one of the bigger CL draws is the breakfast. We’re past the point of wanting to head out to park or character breakfasts and are just fine grabbing something in the lounge every day. For our family of four, what we would otherwise spend for breakfast would start to add up after awhile (of course, not $200 per day!). Could I spend less at Garden Grocer and have supplies in the room? Sure - but for us it’s vacation, I don’t want to mess with groceries, etc.

- In fairness, while we use the CL breakfast as a meal replacement, the other services generally aren’t going to be a true meal substitute. That being said, we tend to often have a larger lunch out in the parks and are ultimately fine with light snacking during evening apps because we just aren’t that hungry. But I also don’t like “being tied” to the lounge for meals either, so other than breakfast, I don’t let the fact we’re staying CL force my schedule, for the most part. Some people feel the need to “be back in the lounge for apps” since they “paid for it,” but we try not to think like that.

- We enjoy the occasional beer or wine in our CL comings and goings. Or a glass of water or coffee. Having these close by is a nice convenience.

- The lounge provides a nice “second room” if you will - I like waking up early while the fam is still asleep and heading to the lounge to get some work done / grab a cup of coffee. Or if the fam is napping and I don’t want to bother them, I can hang in the lounge. And back to that beer/wine part. :-)

- CL guests have access to Disney Signature Services, a pre-arrival “concierge” type of service. While they can’t necessarily book ADRs or FPs you can’t otherwise do yourself, sometimes it’s nice to have the service available if needed. You can take care of room requests with a simple e-mail... or book a cabana... etc. Sometimes not having to call to handle basic tasks has some value.

- The standard (non-suite) CL rooms are on a dedicated floor - at BC and YC that’s the 5th floor (top floor) - so when you book CL you have some level of control over your room location vs a non-CL reservation. At other resorts, certain buildings are CL - eg, Poly - where the Hawaii building is all CL... so booking CL there means you know you’ll be in the Hawaii longhouse.

- CL CMs staff desks on the CL floor from 7am-10pm daily. They can assist with any issues, questions, etc, and they can be accessed via text during your stay too. I’ve had an occasion or two where I needed to cancel an ADR last minute and having someone accessible right there on the CL floor or via text can be a slight time saver. Many trips we never need anything at all, but it’s often nice to have a smiling face welcoming us in our comings/goings.

- I haven’t stayed at BC CL since 2016 but have several recent trips to YC CL - personally I have found the CMs there quite warm/welcoming. While the food at every CL can get repetitive, I personally think YC CL is one of the better CLs right now in terms of quality/quantity of food offerings. (BC CL is served by the same kitchen and is substantially similar in their offerings)

- CL guests can currently book a special trial extra charge FP program where you can buy 3 extra FPs per day (plus your original 3) 90 days out. Some find this intriguing, some don’t.

- I’m assuming BC CL has this too, but YC CL has some board games in the lounge that have come in handy on a rainy day.

So, as you can see - none of these are earth-shattering amenities or must-haves... more conveniences or luxuries.

We find value in the conveniences, but others will not, so definitely not a one size fits all perspective.

Sorry that was TLDR, but hope it helps!

I misread this message originally. I thought you were saying the CM was explaining, "Sorry hot dogs are not on the menu (and are not available)" instead of "Hot dogs are not on the menu but ARE available"

I'm guessing from subsequent responses that the latter is the correct meaning.

Right?

Lol... sorry for my poor wording!! Yes, I meant hot dogs were not on the Hurriane Hannah’s menu but are available. :earboy2:

Question re: Club Level - Water View Rooms - at both Yacht Club and Beach Club.

When looking at Touring Plans Room Views, the water view room views from Yacht Club seem to be more of Crescent Lake than SAB pool (which is what we prefer); whereas the water view rooms from Beach Club seem to be more of SAB pool than Crescent Lake. So are the club level rooms at Yacht Club farther away from SAB pool? I'm trying to figure out the layout.
