Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Thoughts appreciated. We have a BOG at 8:55am reservation. We are staying at Beach Club and the park opens at 7 am I believe for resort guests. We are not early risers and have plans to head to the bus at 7:45 ish. Would it be wiser to walk to YC bus stop st that time in the morning? Trip is over Columbus Day weekend. Thx
I definitely would....... 7:45 can be a tough time at the BC stop. It's luck of the draw but with an ADR why chance it.

Personally, I would always walk over to YC if I wanted to get on a bus to a park.

Also, if I had an ADR I would have a back-up plan in case I could not get on a bus in time: stand outside the YC main entrance and request alternate transportation. Minnie Van if I needed car seats; Uber or Lyft if I did not need car seats. Have valet parking person get me a cab if I did not need car seats and did not want to use Uber or Lyft.

I think everyone who would consider using Uber or Lyft should download the apps before they leave home and know how to use them. There is a great thread on the transportation board if you have questions. If you are not comfortable with Uber or Lyft but want to use Minnie Van -- remember that you need the Lyft app to request the Minnie Van.

Heading back to WDW with the hubby and 3 daughters for a split stay 11/14-11/23. 1 night at YC garden view then over to BC deluxe room for 8 nights. Just made our fast passes this morning!! Could we please be added to the Be Our Guest list? Thanks so much!!

How old are your little ones?
We'll be there the same dates and my shy 5 year old son will be looking for some friends to play with at the pool! :)
I have a 2 year old son also but he'll be happy playing on his own :)

Of course I forgot to mention- we had the Keurig. Had k-cups of regular and decaf, and Twinings English Breakfast as well as Green Tea.
Were you in the hotel or DVC? We will be in a two-bedroom in January and we will want to bring lots of coffee (five women)--the other DVC's I have stayed in had regular pots. Thanks!

We were in regular BC- not BCV. I thought with regular kitchens that the villas had regular coffee pots, but I’ve never stayed in that part of the resort. Hope you have a great stay!

Hi @natebenma (Dee) when you get a chance can you add us to the BOG list please :). We will be returning June 30, 2020 - July 12, 2020. Right now we are booked at BC but are hoping to switch to BCV studio. We loved having the little kitchenette this past trip and the set up of the room.
* Not BC/YC related* Once we checkout on July 12th we are venturing outside the bubble and renting a home for 8 nights. We plan on moving down to the area in about 5 1/2 years( husband retires :dogdance:) and we want to do some exploring.

Anyone at Beach Club or BCV RIGHT NOW that wants a few aluminum bottles of bud light, a few shots of Buffalo Trace bourbon, brand new gold peak sweet tea, and scones? Leaving the room in about 30 minutes and I would love to give this away.

Met a nice family on the way to check our bags and the dad accepted the alcohol. I left the tea in the 4th floor bcv laundry room. Someone else had left a couple of items and diapers also.

Our girls are 14, 13 and 8, so a little bit older but are really good with younger ones. :) We’ll keep our eyes out for two little guys if we’re at the pool!

Hi - we have our first Disney owned property stay at BC coming up in 2 weeks. In the past we have always stayed at the Swalphin (5-6 trips).

Any tip, tricks, hints, or suggestions for our first stay at the BC?
We’re booked in a Garden/Woods view.

TIA

YC lobby refurbishment

I'm sure this has already been talked about but I saw on the stories of an instagrammer I follow that there are refurbishments being done in the YC lobby. Does anyone know what they're doing?

Obviously, they are sprucing up for my arrival

TWO 👏 WEEKS 👏 FROM 👏 TO👏DAY 👏!!!

:woohoo:

I "heard" that the floors are being refinished, but I cannot vouch for the info.

Just found this on the Disney Food Blog:

We checked out 2 days ago-- they were painting the trim in the lobby from the yellowish beige ( the picture w.the boat) to white

But seriously, is this work still going on- are there areas of the lobby still under tarps or curtains?

If so, I want to update Page 1, but I don't want to do this if the work is finished or nearly done.

I am about a week behind on the thread, sorry for the delayed responses and welcomes.

Pack light, and plan to do laundry regularly. If you have just a couple of outfits for each of you, that will cut down on the amount of luggage that you need to worry about. The washers and dryers in the laundry room at the villas are free, detergent is $1.

:welcome:

Thanks for your helpful input.

I'll add your March Spring Break trip to the Be Our Guest list. Beach Club or Beach Club villas?

:cool1:

We (as in DH) decided to stay at WL in December, so please take us off the list for then. However, he’s bribing me with a trip end of January, and once the AP discounts are released YC will probably be the winner for that trip. ;-)

Will do! Come back soon!

Happy to add you to the list!

Hi - We will be visiting in November. We usually stay at Swan & Dolphin, but are excited to spend a week at Yacht & Beach. We have a toddler who loves macaroni & cheese and hot dogs (both of which we could easily get at S&D). I looked at the children's menu for Hurricane Hannah's - but I don't see either on the menu. Does any one know if there is anywhere at either of these resorts to get either of these items? (Usually we come back to our hotel for a mid-day 2-3 hr nap and then end up eating dinner at the resort before going back to the parks). This mama says Thank you SO much!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Are you staying at the Beach Club or Yacht Club?

I can't really help you with the availability of mac & cheese or hot dogs at the quick serve places at the resort. I'll look around when I am there in October.

Remembering the times when I had a toddler who was a very picky eater (which fortunately, he has outgrown and is now an adventurous eater), here are a couple of survival tips if you need them:

You can request a microwave for your room. If available, it will be provided free of charge. There are also microwaves for guest use in the BC Marketplace and the YC Ale & Compass.

Bring along plastic containers on your trip. When you dine out at one of parks, or as another poster suggested, you get mac & cheese from the BW kiosk, get extra and bring it back to your room for later.

There are cups of mac & cheese that you can purchase at the grocery store before your trip and pack for emergency situations. They are lightweight and easy to prepare- just add water and microwave.

Not sure about the hot dogs. I assume you can purchase a package of franks at the BC Marketplace that you could microwave. Toast the buns using an iron and tin foil.

🌭

To add onto what @natebenma said for the parent of the child who likes Mac & Cheese and hot dogs - I wonder if they sell the single-serving Mac & Cheese cups in the Beach Club Marketplace or the Yacht Club's Market at Ale & Compass. You do not have to store it in the fridge. You just add water and microwave. I think it's called Easy Mac.

Maybe somebody who is going to YC/BC before you could check to see if this is sold there.

Also about the hot dogs - if your kid doesn't like the buns toasted, that would make it even easier to prepare in your room (if you get a microwave) or at the microwave in BC Marketplace.

I've got a stay coming up at YC in November. I've stayed a number of times before - it's my favourite property at WDW - but I've always arrived early evening. This time around my flights have had a number of "adjustments" so I'm now probably not going to get to the site until after midnight. I've already booked my ME place and so they know I'm arriving late but I'm having a wobble on whether I need to separately contact the hotel to let them know in case I lose my room? I realise I'm probably worrying about nothing but I've had a bit of a weird year for getting walked by hotels I've booked and this is a special trip for me (it's my birthday while I'm out there) so I really don't want it to happen again. FWIW I only have a basic garden room so nothing fancy that might protect me in the event of overbooking.

Separately, can anyone advise what a reasonable tip is for housekeeping? (It's been a few years since I was last in the US so I don't know what expectations are - I used to leave $5 per day for basic and $10 if housekeeping went out of their way).

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

I think you will be fine. As others have mentioned, your room will be assigned several days before the trip, not upon your arrival.

That sounds right on the tips. I usually tip $5 per night, per room, leaving the money each morning instead of at the end of the trip, since you may have different housekeepers throughout the stay.

:thumbsup2

We were at Stormalong Bay a few weeks ago. The CM walking around taking food/drink orders gave us a menu and mentioned two things not on the kids menu.... I’m nearly certain one of them was a hot dog. Note I’m not totally sure so don’t take that as 100% fact, but I’m pretty sure!

I misread this message originally. I thought you were saying the CM was explaining, "Sorry hot dogs are not on the menu (and are not available)" instead of "Hot dogs are not on the menu but ARE available"

I'm guessing from subsequent responses that the latter is the correct meaning.

Right?

::yes::

Beaches and cream has both on their kids menu. They are doing a refurb right now and I am not sure when it reopens. They have a temporary location now. Check and see what is on that kids menu.

:welcome: to the thread and thanks so much for your input!

Just got back a couple of week's ago for our 2nd stay at YC (stayed there last year as well). I was worried that our incredible experience there could never be matched and we would be a bit disappointed this time, well that was not the case at all! It was another amazing stay. We spent 10 nights in a garden view room that ended up overlooking the quiet pool. Wasn't my 1st choice view, but that didn't even matter. I'm not that hung on views in general.

Staff were all amazing, including being very helpful and accommodating when I needed to add some nights as backup and ultimately checking out a day early due to hurricane Dorian.

We spent a full day on resort with a 7am guided bass fishing tour which was amazing and then rented a cabana by the pool for the day before enjoying a great meal at Yachtsman. It was the best resort day ever!

I was so impressed, I booked the bounce back again, although this time I am going to try the Beach Club side. I'm hoping that I will be just as impressed with that side of the resort as Yacht Club

Thanks so much for the feedback about your trip.

I'll add your bounceback trip to the Be Our Guest list.

We are visiting BC in August of 2020 for a week long stay. We've stayed at YC before and always have gotten a room with a daybed which made life a ton easier. I don't know much about BC, we've booked a water/pool view because that's what was available for our package. Is it possible to get both a balcony and a day bed in this category?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:woohoo:

Yes, it is possible to get a room with both a full balcony and daybed. Not sure how many there are in the category.

Place your requests in priority order: "Full balcony please, daybed if possible" or "Daybed if possible (2 children of opposite genders/reason if there is one), full balcony if possible"

Thanks so much as always for this helpful info.

It will be interesting to see if and how this will change the experience of entering EPCOT through the International Gateway.

Dee, I don’t think I ever asked to be added to the Be Our Guest list! Had to reschedule our Labor Day trip and couldn’t find a continuous stay, so have to “settle” for a split stay at our 2 favorite resorts. :) We will be at the YC from 10/11-10/12 following 2 nights at the Poly. Now to rearrange our plans to add in more resort time!!!

I'll add you to the list!

Dang! I'll be missing you by a few days. We check out on Oct 7.

Leaving tomorrow to meet family for the "Trip with the Cousins" and all staying at the Beach Club! I actually have been to Disney six times and only stayed there, so it is obviously my favorite spot! Will post a trip report when we return home!

Have a spectacular trip!

As far as tips, I recommend that you read Page 1 of this thread, particularly the first post (Intro), Post 13 (FAQ) and Post 14 (Other Useful Info).

My favorite tip: Learn where the "Secret Exit/Entrance" is- you can read about that in the FAQ, or in Post 8 (Beach Club)

Have a wonderful trip!

I've never really researched this before, so pardon my ignorance, but what are the real benefits of Club Level? Why would I as a resort guest pay about $200 or so extra per night for a Club Level room? What should I use to determine if this is a valuable option for our next trip? We are planning YC or BC. TIA for all input and opinions!

A blog entry from Everything Walt Disney World gives a very well written, comprehensive description of the Concierge service offered at WDW resorts, including the BC and YC. The article will also give you the factors to help you decide if club level is worth it for your family.

Google Disney's Club Level- What is it and Do I want it?

***************************************************************************************************

Page 1, Post 12 of this thread has lots of info and pictures of the club level lounges and offerings at the YC and BC.

My favorite part of club level is the breakfast, but since my husband and I will be taking advantage of the extra early morning hours during our upcoming stay, and will be spending most of our time in the parks, club level does not make sense to us for this trip.

The more people in your group, the more valuable the premium you are paying for the food & drink is.

Others like the reservation services, check-in at the lounge, package delivery and the salt water taffy at the CL desks

They do still have the taffy, don't they??? It has been 3 years since my most recent CL stay.

I haven't really seen anyone mention it as an advantage, but being on the top level of the resort is great because of the view and not having other rooms/guests above you
