Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Its been a few weeks since we returned from a fab stay at the YC.

Our 1st time here, usually BC people but no more, YC all the way.

Wow!!!

Thank you so much for the awesome, detailed review and the fabulous pictures!

So glad that you had a nice trip, and that you forged a great relationship with the housekeeper.

Finalizing my shopping list for our Thursday check-in at BC. Are the coffee makers still the cuisinart pod kind? Or are they keurig?

Yes.

Does that help? No?

Some, we are not sure how many, of the Cuisinart pod machines have been replaced with Keurigs in BC rooms.

You could have either type in your room.

Sorry we don't have a better answer.

You can ask for additional coffee set ups if you need more.

Anyone know if there is something happening at the BC the week of June 22nd 2020? Its showing no availability for every single room category. If I do Sunday, June 21st to Sunday, June 28th it has every room available. But if I change it to Monday, June 22nd to Monday, June 29th or Sunday, June 28th nothing is left. Weird. Is it just busy time? All I can think of is Sunday is father's day? Or do they not want people to travel on Mondays? YC is all sold out too except for club level. I didn't know if there was a conference or what?

We were in 2085 last year. It was the best location! One floor down to the lobby and beautiful views of the fireworks every night. I never wanted to leave the room. Now I am missing it more than ever :) So glad you had a great trip!!!!

The Disney website is in a chronic state of dysfunction, so the lack of availability could possibly be due to a failure to make that booking period (or variably, any others) available at any particular moment.

Customer service is not what it used to be at WDW.

Guests now have to waste their time returning to the site, repeatedly, to try and book when the system is functioning in between breakdowns.

Another problem is that the room category you are trying to book is unavailable for one of the days, so the system throws out your entire reservation. Again, since we are dealing with a poor system for reservations, there is no means provided to explain to you what the "problem" is so you just get dumped and you can't make a reservation for all of your days.

There may be some fixes to this problem. One option is to break your trip up into two separate time periods. For example, try booking Monday to Thursday and then Thursday to Monday to complete your week. There may be availability this way.

You can call the resort reservations number (407) 934-7639, but be advised that the person that you may be speaking with may not realize what the problem is so they will just say that nothing is available. If this is the case them ask them to split your reservation into a smaller number of days for the same week and search like that. You may have to break it down to 6 days and then 1 day, especially if your room category is not available at the beginning or end of your trip.

I'm finding when I call Disney on the phone, the CM's I am speaking with don't fully have the grasp of the ins and outs of the Disney reservation system. If you find that to be the case, I advise ending the call and then calling back to try with a different CM.

Good luck and welcome to the new level of Disney Customer service. Budget cuts, poor retention and low wages in addition to inadequate training and poor supervision are now the name of the game at Disney.

Hi - We will be visiting in November. We usually stay at Swan & Dolphin, but are excited to spend a week at Yacht & Beach. We have a toddler who loves macaroni & cheese and hot dogs (both of which we could easily get at S&D). I looked at the children's menu for Hurricane Hannah's - but I don't see either on the menu. Does any one know if there is anywhere at either of these resorts to get either of these items? (Usually we come back to our hotel for a mid-day 2-3 hr nap and then end up eating dinner at the resort before going back to the parks). This mama says Thank you SO much!

I'm not aware of them being served at YC or BC. There is a kiosk on the Boardwalk which has both of them:

I've got a stay coming up at YC in November. I've stayed a number of times before - it's my favourite property at WDW - but I've always arrived early evening. This time around my flights have had a number of "adjustments" so I'm now probably not going to get to the site until after midnight. I've already booked my ME place and so they know I'm arriving late but I'm having a wobble on whether I need to separately contact the hotel to let them know in case I lose my room? I realise I'm probably worrying about nothing but I've had a bit of a weird year for getting walked by hotels I've booked and this is a special trip for me (it's my birthday while I'm out there) so I really don't want it to happen again. FWIW I only have a basic garden room so nothing fancy that might protect me in the event of overbooking.

Separately, can anyone advise what a reasonable tip is for housekeeping? (It's been a few years since I was last in the US so I don't know what expectations are - I used to leave $5 per day for basic and $10 if housekeeping went out of their way).

We were at Stormalong Bay a few weeks ago. The CM walking around taking food/drink orders gave us a menu and mentioned two things not on the kids menu.... I’m nearly certain one of them was a hot dog. Note I’m not totally sure so don’t take that as 100% fact, but I’m pretty sure!

Thanks, I’ll bring both to be safe

If the Magical Express has your flight information you should be good to go with having your room secured. Rooms are assigned a few days in advance of your reservation. I'd still call Disney and ask to have a note placed in your file explaining that your going to have a late arrival. That would give you some peace of mind.

Concerning the tips I think you are right on the money. That's what I do. In fact I even print out special envelopes with a cartoon Mickey and a note explaining in English and Spanish that this envelope is for the Housekeeper and thank you for doing a great job.

I also like to write requests for things I need on this envelope since I am sure the housekeeper will see it. I usually get great service thanks to those tip envelopes!

I actually believe it has nothing to do with the fancy envelopes- which I also use - but rather with the great CM’s that work hard and clean rooms at the resort.

Beaches and cream has both on their kids menu. They are doing a refurb right now and I am not sure when it reopens. They have a temporary location now. Check and see what is on that kids menu.

Just got back a couple of week's ago for our 2nd stay at YC (stayed there last year as well). I was worried that our incredible experience there could never be matched and we would be a bit disappointed this time, well that was not the case at all! It was another amazing stay. We spent 10 nights in a garden view room that ended up overlooking the quiet pool. Wasn't my 1st choice view, but that didn't even matter. I'm not that hung on views in general.

Staff were all amazing, including being very helpful and accommodating when I needed to add some nights as backup and ultimately checking out a day early due to hurricane Dorian.

We spent a full day on resort with a 7am guided bass fishing tour which was amazing and then rented a cabana by the pool for the day before enjoying a great meal at Yachtsman. It was the best resort day ever!

I was so impressed, I booked the bounce back again, although this time I am going to try the Beach Club side. I'm hoping that I will be just as impressed with that side of the resort as Yacht Club

The temp location only serves ice cream, unfortunately.
