Latest I read was Amex was not offering any retention offers on the Hilton Biz. You can try, because retention offers are targeted and change periodically. But I just went ahead and canceled ours in July, since that Hilton Biz is taking up one slot of the 5 Amex credit card you’re allowed to hold at once.
Okay I think I’ll call anyone and try and if they say no I’ll just cancel it. Thanks! We’ll keep dh’s hilton honors because it has no AF.

My dh and I purchased a new Kia Telluride today. We are putting down between $10-15K and financing the rest for 1.9%APR. I have a relatively new CIP that I still need to put on around $4k to get my bonus points. I asked how much I could put on a charge card (thinking she was going to say $1K or so) and she said whatever amount you want to. She said some people put over $10K on their charge card. I was shocked and never heard of this but happy that my 80K points will be appearing soon on my CIP and will put the rest of the down payment on a few other cards to get some bonus points. :thumbsup2
Oh congrats! I love the look of that SUV and it's on my radar. Saw one while I was on vacation in NH recently. Enjoy! Awesome you could use a cc!

What WDW ADRs are super-hard to get? Tomorrow is my 180 for mid-March. We won't be wanting princess meals or Chef Mickey or 'Ohana. Should I even bother booking this soon? Honestly, the last time I booked at 180 days was probably 2009 lol
I always book and then cancel the ones we don’t want closer to our trip. Beaches and cream, be our guest lunch, bon voyage (yes it’s character but the food is good), artist point (another character but worth it for the food and evil queen), hoop de doo, boma breakfast (I always want specific times that are popular)

Do I need to be concerned about timing/booking the Hilton room in a hurry? Are hotel bookings made on points difficult to find, the way airline reward bookings can be difficult to find?

And/or, is it possible to make the hotel reservation on a credit card and then later change it to "pay" with MRs later when I have them? Does that even make sense? I'm sorry to be confused but I am not sure how to convey what I am asking!

Hilton’s policy is if a standard room is available to be booked for cash, it should also be available for redemption as an award night. However, the points cost will likely fluctuate. If you can’t find award availability, that’s probably because there are no standard rooms available for sale, which shouldn’t happen until you get much closer to your travel dates or if it’s a very busy travel period. Rooms can still open up and you can set an alert using OpenHotelAlert .com, as discussed here. The earlier you book will allow you time to keep checking back and rebook if the points required go down.

Anyone been to Candlelight Processional? My dd17 is performing with her choir on 12/14 at two of the shows. Do we need to do the dinner package? I want to make sure we get good seats! Any help? We've only been to WDW once in Dec and we didn't go to see the CP so not sure what it's like.

The 5:00pm time slot is usually the easiest for standby.

However, 12/14 is a Saturday narrated by Gary Sinise so I would definitely get a package and also get in the package line early before the show actually starts! Those with the package are guaranteed a spot whereas standby can wait and not get admitted at all. Some of the restaurants can be VERY pricey. Breakfast options are usually more affordable (Check Ale & Compass at YC). No discounts are accepted and if you go the DDP route, it takes 2 credits.

Wait - so you're saying that you're using your SW CP to go see you daughter perform in the Epcot CP. You also have a daughter that has pursued the Disney CP program too, right? Maybe someday down the line you'll be able to use your CP to see your daughter in the CP and maybe that daughter will later participate in the CP and then maybe she'll get a CP of her own since she's already an avid churner at a young age. Hey, speaking of CP - weren't you asking some questions about CP after I went there back over Labor Day weekend? CP is a long way from where you live though - oh well, could just be another great use of your CP!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

How long did it take you to write that?

Marriott Peak/Off-Peak Update: Check all of your bookings

Both @Lain and I posted comments regarding this yesterday. However, I don't think either of us explicitly mentioned to check all of your previously booked upcoming Marriott stays to see if you can re-book to save any points. There were a bunch of DPs on r/churning of people saving points today. Be careful on this too and check everything over to make sure you aren't messing anything up first. You don't want to be Bonvoyed here while trying to save 10k points or something like that!

My dd is performing at the 6:45 and 8:00 shows. It sounds like we need to book a package. I hate that we have to prepay for the full cost now :(

Yes, this is correct.

Yes, again, you are correct. Are you spying on @Lain's spreadsheet?

Very likely. She is her mother's dd ;)

No idea but I do always have questions.

There are no bad uses.

I hate the pre-pay ADRs! Hopefully it helped keep decent availability open for you. If you have Disney GCs I think you can call in and secure it like that if you don't want to put it on a CC. You may actually want to call and pick your preferred showtime. Online randomly assigns you one :confused3

Good thought! I think we want the 6:45 show and maybe we will stand in the back for the 8pm. I'm "that mom" who goes to all my kid's performances. Three of my four kids are entertainers, whether dance, song or drama, and I've never, ever missed a single show (even when they had 4 shows of the same...). My youngest is the athlete and I go to every single practice and game. Anyways, I'll start checking what our best priced option is for the dining package!

We went to TKTS for the first time earlier this year and found it was a lot of fun to just see what was available and go with it. We were with friends and PlanePrincess stayed at the hotel while I went to stand in line to get the tix with one of our friends. When we came back and I showed the tix to PlanePrincess, he was like, "Do you mean to tell me you actually bought tickets to see a musical about King Kong?" The look on his face was priceless :rotfl2: By the end of the show we were all crying over a 20 ft tall puppet

Lol, too funny! I would rather get tickets ahead of time but I’m not sure when we are going yet. We did the tkts thing a few years ago and it worked out ok.
I went to NYC three years in a row as a chaperone when my son was in drama club and chorus in HS on different trips. So we got some great tickets to shows at group rates but also went to quite a few on our own and that’s how I discovered TKTS. The kids did a broadway summit workshop so while they were in the work shop I went to extra shows! Not sure, if I would choose King Kong either, but if it’s a musical I would probably end up loving it too. One of my favorites was Dear Evan Hanson. I am getting excited just thinking about all the options!

I have been a few times in December and gone to the CP. I haven’t bought the package or stood in line. Just went in after everyone else was seated, but there’s no guarantee of a seat so I don’t think that would work for you to be able to see your DD.

It’s an adult only trip. So at first I was upset that the whole 3 days of my life I could sleep in were gone. Now after seeing reports and crowds and wait times, I'm excited to be able to do like everything! In one day! Which is really hard with a 7 and 2 year old as we have to rider swap and that eats up a ton of time.
Lol, can’t you sleep in two of the days? Seriously though, just go early do everything you want and then come back later and take a nap by the pool - even better idea in my book. 💤
