Fingers crossed that it didn't mess up (because there was some glitch in paying for it, of course) but 25K MRs should be on their way to DH's account thanks to the AF deal they are running right now. 🤞

I’m guessing this is the Amex Offer for Air France, spend $1k and get 20k MR? Paid with a Platinum for 5x MR for another 5k MR on the $1k? If so, great rebate for a paid flight!

What a rip off concert tickets are! BSB is in concert tomorrow night and tickets are $19.50 each. Great. Final price $71.30 after service and facility fee are added. Just ridiculous. What kind of service is there to email tickets?

We are going to see 'Come from Away' at the Kennedy Center over Xmas holidays. The convenience fee was a cool 30.52 and the KC sells them to you itself!! Plus $20 for advance parking, plus we got 3rd row orchestra seats because daughter paid and she did not want to sit in the $49 seats I picked out. I happily booked it on my card and will take it out of her checking with her permission of course. I want to see a comedy in Nov but I'll wait until I return from Disney to buy as the one I'm going to see won't sell out. Then 'My Fair Lady' is in January and anything to take the dull out of Washington Winter, please! I really love live performance.

I have to ask here... anyone heard of Vessi footwear?

I keep seeing adds on instagram. Supposedly 100% waterproof shoes. I'm so intrigued but also scared of the price. But thought I'd ask here because Rothys were the same for me, just had seen the ads until it came up here and some of you have them.

I feel like the steam refresh setting on MILs dryer doesnt do as well as a damp cloth lol. Dh doesn't believe me because that's all hes known
I grew up with the damp cloth and it's simple but it just works. You can feel the damp steam when you open the dryer, yk?

Those gas rewards multipliers are almost useless to me. There aren’t any Safeway gas stations in the core Bay Area, so we have to use them at Chevron, which limits it to $0.20 off up to something like 20 or 25 gallons. Our car tops out at about 15 gallons and we don’t need gas often anyway. And gas rewards expire, so I’d end up using them for something like a $1 off an avocado.
That explains why DH told me he doesn't bother with the fuel deals when I asked him about them after reading here. We've been using the 10% on the Amex Biz and that will keep us going until it expires. Thanks for explaining it!

It takes 100 points to earn 1 gas reward. Points totaling less than 100 expire at the end of the calendar month in which they were earned. Gas rewards earned during each month can be used through the end of the following calendar month. So you have at most 2 months to use up your gas rewards.

One gas reward gets you $0.10 off per gallon. I don’t think Safeway gas stations have a limit on rewards, but the only ones I’ve ever passed by are in Novato and Vallejo; it looks like there are a couple in Alameda. Unless I’m on those sides of the Bay, the distance and crossing bridges kills the deal. Chevron limits gas rewards to 2, or $0.20 off per gallon, per pump. For our 15 gallon tank, that means we save at most $3 per pump. Gas rewards are subject to a limit of 25 gallons anyway, so at most 2 rewards will get you $5 off per pump. We fill up on average two, maybe 3 times a month. And since gas rewards expire in a month or two, it’s very hard to use them all on gas.

The Safeway app gives you other options to use your gas rewards on, including $ off certain grocery items. But Safeway isn’t always the cheapest for certain items, and I find that I can sometimes do better at Trader Joe’s, Target, or Costco in bulk.

I wonder if Weis works the same way. We typically use our Weis points at High’s since it’s two minutes from our house but the Weis on the way to DS’s school has their own gas station. We are limited at High’s. Might need to look into that since it is more convenient now.

I just looked at the website---I don't like the fact that they need to be hand washed with soap (I love that I can throw my various Rothy's into the washing machine!) And they don't have very many colors (yet, at least). Waterproofing would be awesome, though.

I'm trying to find waterproof Chelsea boots that fit my superhigh, awkward instep and arch. I've tried on, ordered, and returned so many boots in the past few months

We bought season tickets last year, mainly for Hamilton, but this was our second favorite show!

Rothy’s released their new Chelsea boots this week: https://rothys.com/womens/chelsea-boot

Not sure if you knew but the Kennedy center does a free show each day. Some have been pretty good.

I like the Priority card...since the $149 AF is reduced to $74 by using the $75 SW credit..which can be used for flights, EBCI etc..you also get 4 upgraded boarding reimbursed and 7,500 RR anniversary points
It’s a great choice but DH has the Performance Biz. Sorry I didn’t mention that.

Have you considered a garment steamer instead? I only use my iron while I’m sewing and use my steamer for everything else. I swear by it!
I second this! I have a Rowenta too, from Target 6 or so years ago. It’s all we use. I only drag the iron out if I need creases (rarely as DH WFH 4 days a week and just khakis on the one day in office) or to iron on Girl Scout badges (we have a decent shark iron from amazon or BBB and it works great. Funny thing is I mainly use the steam feature on it 😂). Love my steamer! We even travel with a small portable version (must find room in new packing setup for this!).
Yes, yes, yes! I love my steamer.

I also have a travel one that comes with me on business trips and to WDW. Gotta look fresh for the mouse! 🤣

Thanks @Lain . Interesting (or bizarre rather) on the refund taking 50 days to process and all their rules. Seems I could possibly avoid that if I PC outside the same family. I'll look more into these PC options.
ETA: DPs indicate some have been able to call in after getting the 50 day prorated refund and getting the full AF back.
@vanjust14 - just wanted to clarify one point. Generally, PCs don’t count as closing a card unless the account number changes. So when you PC over the phone, ask the rep to confirm that your card account number won’t change.

This article and its DPs are a bit dated, and I haven’t searched for more recent DPs whether a PC with number change actually resets the 24 month rule. If it does, then a same family PC from Premier > Preferred might be the safest bet.
I still have a Thank You Preferred card that I never use. I was afraid to PC it with the old DPs about other Citi TY bonuses. It sits there doing nothing. I doubt anyone here also has a Citi Dividend card, but the Q4 bonus category is ODDLY similar to the Chase Freedom 🤔

I am fortunate that I have a Safeway gas bar and will get a $1 off per gallon, and will maximize with $25 off my fill, plus the Safeway is walking distance to Costco, so usually matches the gas price.

So, this will be good for me: 4x$100 plus 2x $50 will get me 4000 points or 40 rewards or 4 fills. The cost (I think) is 5.95 per $100 and 4.95 per $50 = $33.80. Gas savings = $100 - $33.80 = $66.20. I will be able to use them up by end of October. Plus the credit card rewards - probably going on my MSR card the CIU. Maybe I should go 6 x on the $100....

And, if I'd pull the trigger on a Serve, I could then cycle the Visas.

Safeway is not cheap at all around here. But, you can do well with cherry picking the deals here and there. But neither are the other stores mentioned. What works is having a lot of time to shop and plan, but most are not that fortunate or would prefer not to fuss trying to save on grocery items...it's work!

Oh you'll love Come from Away! We saw it in Atlanta in June and it was even better than I thought it would be. I laughed and cried in places.
