David and Moira were definitely my favorites from the beginning. Alexis really grew on me as it developed. I agree it takes a few episodes. Episode 7 is one of my favorites in the 1st season! I barely paid attention to the 1st episode and went back and rewatched it once I got hooked.

DH and I just called Barclays to close our Aviator biz cards, they waived the annual fee, which is what I wanted. I hope we can churn it next year, before we have to close the accounts.

It was super easy, I called about my account and when they agreed to waive the fee I asked if she could do the same for DH’s account and she agreed so I handed DH the phone.

I think I might be in the minority--I'm excited. Several of the nonprofits to which I belong accept PayPal and I have a small cruise payoff-around $750 so if I use Chase pay to buy WM gc, then I can use that at Sam's and knock around 9% off. Not a lot, but nothing to sneeze at either. Since I have 2 CFs, that's 15K UR with spend I'd be making already. Bring on October

You all are such enablers!!! I’m building my ebags order now. Will use Amex offer x2 plus ebates or whatever portal is the highest.

Planning to get mother lode junior to use as my personal item (love the look of the prof slim but I don’t really need it for a laptop) and a new toiletry bag since the Lewis and Clark one I have is falling apart (it had a good run tho!). Might get some new packing cubes too.

We have the 2 1/2 week Europe trip next summer and I’d love to do carryon + personal only for all 3 of us.

I’m really eying the away larger carryon (thanks @Andysol for giving me major luggage crush on your family setup!).

Now I just need to figure out how to actually pack efficiently. I’m terrible and just throw in pretty much everything I’ve worn in the past week plus a ton of other things I haven’t worn in years but just might need . And my toiletry bag is actually 3 bags at the moment. 1 toiletry with shower and hair things, 1 small cosmetic bag for face stuff, and a waterproof wet bag for full size sunscreen, tide pods (don’t judge, I meet the coolest people in the DVC and DCL laundry rooms!) and sunless tanner (I’m pale and DH is Lebanese and Moroccan, I glow next to him and DD and not in a good way!)

So who can share some good tips on condensing my bathroom bag and maybe a good site to help me plan some simple but stylish travel outfits? Any recs on a decent travel hair dryer?

And maybe I need to learn to Marie Kondo my clothes...

Yes, I got the junior. I wanted it to be small enough to fit under seats as a personal item to fly frontier without paying extra fees.

Has anyone gone fishing for a retention offer on the SPG Lux/Bonvoy Brilliant? I expect my 2nd year AF to post at the close of this current statement.

I saw a DP that Amex offered 30k Marriott points for $3k spend over 3 months, or $100 credit after $2.5k spend in 3 months.

Considering Marriott points are much harder to earn through SUBs nowadays, it’s not a bad play if you’re going to keep the card anyway.

But I wonder if downgrading to the discontinued, legacy SPG/Bonvoy Amex will let you (1) get the 50k FN cert (or will you get the 35k FN cert, since “your account must be open and not in default at the time of the Free Night Award e-certificate issuance”), and (2) get targeted for upgrade offers back up to the Brilliant (offering a lucrative 100k-125k Marriott points), which it seems you’re excluded from while still holding the Brilliant?

If yes to the above two, then the latter option seems to be the better strategy.

ETA or a third way, assuming you don’t get the 50k FN cert if you’ve downgraded the Brilliant to the legacy Bonvoy, I could hold the Brilliant long enough for the 50k FN cert to deposit, downgrade to the legacy Bonvoy, and hopefully open myself up to upgrade offers when I’m no longer holding the Brilliant.

Interested if there are any DPs and it could work like Hilton but I haven’t heard

I need to think about this one. Do I have to be a member to buy from Sam's?

My Amex has a spend $45 get $25 back on membership for Sam's. I already have a membership, but this may come in handy for someone else.

I have that same offer, although I can't remember if non-members can shop online. We don't have an actual store nearby.

No idea in condensing except maybe lots of small toiletries? And check out Living In Yellow she is on Facebook and has lots of cool layering ideas

@bernina - you can do it. It is possible. I'll send you a PM as well, but we travel carryon only, for both long and short trips. It makes moving around so much easier. And LOL on the eBags orders - I keep looking there but can't justify buying anything and it's killing me!

Not Calypso, but I have both. Started off years ago with the only brand that made them, and the only (heavier) ones they made. I've added a few pieces over the years, and love the really light ones but also want to point out that they don't have much of a shape when empty so they are a bit harder to fill (just takes me a tiny bit longer, it's not like it's really hard). I have a newish ultra light compression cube that is becoming a favorite piece. It squished a cashmere pullover and a down coat into a pretty small space yesterday.
