Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Thanks everyone. We rented DVC pts so we have no option of changing things up now as everything has already been paid for.
I am considering forgoing the crib rental and getting a blow up toddler bed that can be stored on the balcony or upright against the wall when not in use.
We are renting a minivan so looks like our suitcases will have to stay in there.. oh my goodness what a mess.
I'm going to try to speak with someone at check-in and request prior one of the rooms with the huge extra large balconies.
I'm going to have to figure out what to do about the clothing situation as well.
Thank you guys for your honesty!
I at least know what we're getting into now so can plan accordingly and try to come up with some ideas to save some space.

For clothing I'd say to bring your own hangers (DH will literally keep his clothes on hangers and fold them into his suitcase; I roll all my clothes which saves space and helps with wrinkles, and then pack hangers) or ask the resort for extras. You may have to store your luggage in the van as you suggested though after unpacking. Depending on how thick they are they could also go between the bed and wall.
I like Dee's idea of the cushions on the floor bed. That may work for your 5 year old.
As far as the bathroom situation it's definitely doable- just have everyone split up showering/bathing. Stagger getting up in the mornings too and just have patience. Don't stress- you'll have a wonderful trip!

Keep in mind that there's a bunch of stuff taking up some of the room in the BCV studio closet:
Vacuum cleaner
fire extinguisher
broom
what I think is a mop but my picture isn't good
extra pillow and blanket are in a cover on the floor but you might use those
ironing board is hanging on one wall; safe is on the same wall

The Bad, the good and some questions:
he Bad: Due to Hurricane Dorian we cancelled our vacation plans last week. We were supposed to stay at Pop for 2 weeks. Due to our work schedules and family Plans the earliest we could rebook was January 2020. I was very disappointed. The forecast wasn’t looking good and we decided to be safe. All the planning and reservations cancelled!! As you can Imagine it’s hard after all the excitement and anticipation and then the disappointment.
The Good: We rented points and we are now staying in a 1 bedroom villa at Beach Club at the beginning of January for 2 weeks. It’s my husband and our 5 year old daughter. So now the planning and research about our new resort begins. The resort looks beautiful and the pool looks amazing.
Questions:
  1. For anyone that has stayed in a 1 bedroom villa is there a room location that you would suggest? I was thinking a pool view might be nice, we’ve enjoyed a pool view on other hotels.
  2. Do you think Beaches and Cream will reopen by January?
  3. Does anyone know what time the pool opens and closes in January? I understand the pool is heated but we may have some cooler days. I hope we will be able to enjoy Stormalong bay as it looks amazing.
  4. How is the food at the marketplace? Do you usually bring the food back to your room to eat?
  5. Any tips?? I have a lot to learn about Beach Club. It looks amazing and I’m getting excited again about going. Thanks for any help and info I appreciate it:)

:welcome: to this forum!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15

That is a bummer about having to postpone your trip- at least it is not over now and you still have one to look forward to.

1. I'm not knowledgeable about the villas part of the resort, so I will let others weigh in with their opinions, but pool view sounds like a good choice to me.
2. Yes, I think it will be open by January, but this is not based on any inside info I have. All official announcements say "winter" for the opening.
3. Hours last January and February were 10 am to 8 pm. I would expect the same. It is very possible you will have some days that are warm enough to swim. As you noted, pools are heated, so the problem is not getting in, it is getting out! :fish:
4. I don't get stuff from the Marketplace often because we aren't at the resort much, but they have the usual suspects for breakfast (pastries, egg sandwiches, Mickey waffles) and both grab and go items and other selections for lunch/dinner. I believe they just added a chicken dinner and a rib platter. Check out Page 1, Post 7 for dining info for the resort. You can bring the food back to your room, or there is some seating just outside the Marketplace, or across the hall there are some tables/chairs in a covered area or there is the nearby Solarium with lots of comfy seating.
5. For help getting familiar with the resort, we suggest you start by reading the first page of the thread, especially Post 1 (Intro), Post 13 (FAQ) and Post 14 (Other Useful Info) and then keep up with the most recent posts here.

I only have pool view pictures from studios, but this will give you a general idea of what a "pool view" is.

1. There are no great views at BCV. It was built behind the BC in a former Cast Member parking lot. Pool view is fine but with that you may have a room closer to the road. There can be some road noise - but it never bothered me.
2. No one knows yet, but I think it is a good chance
3. There is also the Dune Cove pool at the Villas. It is very nice (No SAB though_) and open Am to 11PM
4.We always have groceries for breakfast, drinks (Juice Water, Soda, Beer Wine) and snacks in the room. The 1 Bedroom Villa has a fully equipped kitchen. I am not one to cook a lot on vacation, but we do some and it is very convenient. It is especially great for breakfast as we are getting ready for the day. Not only is it convenient it saves money as well, For this reason, I have never eaten at the Marketplace. But as Dee suggested I would eat my food at one of the locations near the Marketplace and not drag it back to the Villa
5. Dee's suggestions to read the beginning of this post are great
Also, as a Villa point stay, you will NOT receive daily Mousekeeping, clean towels or toiletry or coffee replacements so plan accordingly.

4. I have taken sandwiches from the grab & go refrigerator section of Beach Club Marketplace back to my villa. I also have taken cupcakes from there back to my villa. Like PP, I eat breakfast in my villa. I have Tiffany Towncar pick me up at the airport and stop at Publix grocery store on the way to the hotel.

5. New policy for DVC people staying on points - you can get more towels to use at no cost, and coffee supplies replenished at no cost. Not sure about toiletries. (You also can get more toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher detergent and trash bags at no cost, but that's nothing new.) They are supposed to remove your trash every day if you are staying on points. They tried to frame it like a perk, but everybody knows they started doing it to make sure they are looking in every room once a day since the Vegas hotel shooting. (Well, maybe not everybody. Every DVC member here on the Dis.)

The one bedroom villa is a great place to stay. The full kitchen will allow you to make meals and have a full pot of coffee, if desired. The BC Marketplace stocks any breakfast type foods including eggs, sausage and bacon, orange juice, butter, bread, etc. There is a list of items that are available on the first post of this thread. :)

The closet of a one bedroom villa is huge and you will be able to store plenty of things there, including your suitcases. :)

1. pool view would be a good choice. We liked to be as close to the BC main building as possible so that the walk to Epcot was short. The location close to the BC would be a quieter view than one near the parking lot or road.
2. There is a temporary location for Beaches and Cream at Ariel's in the BC. I don't know if there is a re-open date set yet.
3. We have traveled many times in January and you can get all kinds of weather. Within your two week trip there should be some warm days for swimming. :) We have sat in the sun on a chilly 65 degree day in January and enjoyed the fact that it was 40 degrees warmer than the weather we left behind in Chicago. ;)

You may be in luck here.

According to my notes, of the 72 Beach Club, Club level rooms, just 8 do not have the full balconies and I believe ALL of the BC CL GV rooms do have the larger balconies.

The percentage across the rest of the resort (standard rooms) is 50%.

:thumbsup2

Now this is great news! Is it April yet?!?!

Anyone want to wager a guess on whether or not these pool hours will continue into October?

I'm thinking no.

Looking at October hours for the last two years, they have been 9 am to 9 pm, with the pool staying open until 10 on some nights (early in the month, weekends).

Yes, we were there in early October last year and the hours posted here are what we experienced. I think it was the same the previous year as well.

Thank you both.
Bummer though!

We have gone in October for years and have never had pool hours from 9 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. and what is further more irksome was Hurricane Hanna's (bar portion) closed just as Illuminations began along with the pool

@natebenma apologies as I'm several pages behind and not sure if you're still looking for shared balcony info. We were in YC 3176, two queens, daybed, tub/shower, first shared balcony room on the left if you're standing in your doorway looking out to the YC entrance.

I agree with other comments that the noise from the front was noticeable on the balcony. However, it never carried into the room once we sealed the door. We saw evidence that other people were in the rooms as there were a few towels drying, but we never actually saw any other occupants. The kids did see mousekeeping one evening in another room, which they thought was hilarious. The balcony was absolutely enormous and a real godsend to allow the kids to have some space to move.

Thank you so much for this excellent, detailed post and great pictures!

Worth waiting for!!!

If you don't mind, I'll add your post to the YC Room View Thread.

:thanks:
