Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Looking back there had to have been a set back. Disney themselves said there would be cast member testing in August and there really wasn’t any. I’m sure the hurricane also didn’t help anything.
I was told there were delays n the station construction.

Sorry you won’t get a chance to ride while you’re there this time.

But excited to see some new updates as to progress taking place!
Yes!! Progress on the Skyliner is always exciting!

We booked our free dining bounceback last evening so we can start our next countdown as soon as we’re home!! Lol, We arrive 1 year from tomorrow! Pretty sure they’ll be open by then!! ;)

Guessing there must have been something. Possibly that tow rope that stretched?

I will say I’m still surprised how long these have taken to put up and open! We were here 20 months ago in Jan 2018 when the first tower went up. If you had told me then we still wouldn’t be riding now I don’t think I would have believed you! :D

Maybe the delay was just because the costumes were not ready....anyway my next trip is not till the end of October , so I hope everything is running smooth by then :)

The Epcot one for sure but from what I had heard the DHS and CBR ones have been ready to go. Even Pop for the most part too.
CBR station area was still a hard hat area when I stayed there during AP previews of SW:GE. The official date was always 9/29. Maybe Disney decided opening just the DHS leg would be more confusing and more trouble then it would be worth.

I heard stations were the issue from a CM scheduled to ride late July early August.

I'll speculate Disney didn't rush to complete CBR after a decision was made to wait until EPCOT was ready.

edited to add
To say the obvious Skyliner can't operate unless CBR is ready. It doesn't matter if POP and DHS is ready.

That’s certainly part of it. There were plans to have CM testing in August and soft openings by now. Just sort of strange why there was such a big delay. Especially on a rather quick to install system. Either way it will open soon enough.

Could have been multifaceted. Soft delays on anything from station finishing work or CM outfits being ready could have led them to want to wait and open the whole system together, or that could have been their plan all along.

Either way I know the work expanding International Gateway turnstiles still isn't quite done,

My Monday morning quarterback opinion, is that it is station/IG entrance construction issues that caused the "delay".
While they could have pushed construction, that can cost you money. Without the Riviera open, there really is no operation need to have any of it run or rush into it. So take their time on the infrastructure stuff and open when ready. I'm sure 2/3rds of it could open now, but might as well open the full thing so you don't have to half bake your grand opening.
Cable stretch is a non issue, it's a normal thing to deal with. Add in a little Dorian drama and here we are.
I'm sure they want to make look as polished and complete as possible, despite their recent trend to open quickly and not 100%.

We watched them lowering the roof on Monday morning. It was just plain steel Mon and had been painted green by the time we were there Tues at lunch.

Anyone have any idea what the Skyliner operating hours will be?
I need to get from CBR to Garden Grill on Monday, Sept 30th for an 8:00am breakfast.
So I am hoping to hop-on at CBR station at 7:20-7:30 or so....does this sound reasonable??

Garden Grill at 8?

I would say be out at 6:50.. If you don't see the Skyliner off in the distance operating, then go to the bus stop.

It's a long walk from International Gateway to The Land (Garden Grill).

Sounds reasonable.....but I'd have a plan B in your back pocket, like having the LYFT app ready to go on your phone. Not that I fear any problems, just that it's a bit of an unknown as nobody has used it yet.

Neither galaxy's edge is complete at opening for example.
I'd also include the QS location being built in TSL. Also, the umbrellas they had to put up after the fact. Both seem pretty obvious to park veterans. Imagineering would in be that group, frankly.
