I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Isn't there an app to pull your Landry's card up on? I just bought mine but wonder if it will get here before we leave on 9/21. I thought I remembered someone saying they showed it on their phone.

Thanks! Just downloaded it and it said my membership is pending. So hopefully that goes through before we leave. I procrastinated on doing this... oops.

If all else fails for some reason, the restaurant manager was able to find me in their system with the same info I registered with (name and email, I think). My card is prolly in this stack of mail I'm ignoring :D

Which one? Not the mixed media one? That's what I got lol. I got the softshell like a month ago too.
I bought the mixed media today in blue. I've been eyeing it for awhile. I love the 32 Degrees stuff, it's great for those cold softball tournaments. It's time for me to size down in my outerwear lol

The softshell is the one that's fluffy soft on the inside right? I think I want that one as well.

I think my question got buried so I'm going to re-ask (Sorry!). If I close my business checking and savings accounts with Chase is that going to effect my CIP card?

Also does anyone know why I'm not allowed to generate a referral link for my Disney card?
Closing your acct shouldn't have any effect. I had a personal checking and closed it with no issues.

I have a phone problem, too, but the opposite--I hate to get rid of my current phones and have had my current one almost 5 years. I know it's only a matter of time before it has to be upgraded but I dread that, in part because it will mean I need to go through all of the photos on my phone. Which brings me to a question--does anyone know an easy way to get prints made from photos on the iphone? My current method is to email the photo to myself, download it onto my computer, then upload it to Costco or Walgreens or Shutterfly. I would be surprised if there is not some more efficient way to do it.
I installed Dropbox on my phone and I have my phone set to upload all photos to Dropbox. Then I can easily access them on my computer, or better see them on a larger screen.

@Lain I was going to suggest the similar ones from disney store online...the animator's collection ones. They came in 2 sizes and my DD3 has both. They are seriously adorable. Looks like they don't sell them anymore, but the above PBKids set is very similar.

I do think the Animators Collection is adorbs, and my DD even has a few of the dresses; but *gasp* DD told us recently that she’s not really into princesses anymore because all that love stuff is “goofy.” What happened to my baby girl?!

If we get her the blush pink Away carry-on, I think she’d totally put Hello Kitty stickers all over it.

Recommendations for a credit card I can put an authorized user on and also put a spending limit? I know how on business cards, but not personal ones. This is for a nanny. Bonus if there’s a point bonus somewhere to do it! My only personal cards are chase Disney and chase southwest. Biz are legitimately biz and I can’t put her on there. Cap one, Am Ex, Chase Sapphire. Figured I’d ask the experts!
I know Chase won't let you have a different limit for an AU, but you could reduce your limit on the card she's authorized on. Amex gold lets me have different limits for AUs.

DAMN APPLE! They came out with a purple iPhone! I'm someone who owns EVERYTHING in purple. Grrrrr. Guess I need a new card to hit a spend on, LOL. Truth be told, I'll probably keep rocking my iPhoneXs in gold in my purple sparkle case. I mean the purple phone would be in a purple case anyways.
Nooooo!!!! I have a purple problem too :(
Another Purpleologist here! I have a purple case. That will have to do as I don’t want to spend any money on a new phone.

2. There are a number of reasons you might want the resort credit even if you are paying with points. When we go for our third visit to TDS/TDL the Hilton Tokyo Bay will be a key strategy for us and so will the Aspire. DH and I each have the card and plan to use our combined free weekend nights. We will use points for other nights. The two $250 resort credits will be used for either paying for another night and/or charging Park tickets to the room so I don’t pay OOP for the park admission. Hope that helps.

I had NO IDEA you can use a resort credit to use towards a night!!!! I assumed it had to be for "extras"! If I get this card I am DEFINITELY picking your brain some more for details on the steps to take to book/use such a thing. Thank you! Also I had read that at the Hilton, park tickets could ONLY be paid in cash... but then I kept reading below! That would most definitely be a large consideration!

It is called "stay to play." You don't stay, you don't play. I used to cancel my room last minute for soccer tourneys, like after the tournament people had verified we had enough rooms booked for our team. But for hockey, I don't want to do anything to cause him problems. If I get the reputation as "that annoying parent that won't cooperate" it could cause him to not make the team. As infuriating as it is, you know that's how it is when you agree to let your kid play at that level. And we are $7k deep into this season already, so what's another few hundred bucks. :faint:

This would never have occurred to me but it makes me very grateful that neither kid was good enough at soccer (or any other sport) to play at club level. :faint: indeed!

If you can use the resort credit, a weekend night at the Hilton Tokyo Bay should be worth at least $200. Then you break even. If you can find a way to use the $250 airline incidentals credit, then you come out ahead. If you can double dip on any of it before downgrading, then you really come out ahead.

The redemption rate for MRs to hotels is 0.7 cent per point. A $200/night hotel will cost you about 28600 MRs.

I know a manager let @Andysol charge park tickets because he's Diamond. Have you see any other DPs? Wondering how YMMV it is.

Thanks for that info on the MRs! And for tagging @Andysol so that he could respond below!

@calypso726 @ten6mom : Contact their Guest Services & Quality Manager, Deepak Chapay, a week before you go and just let him know that's your preference. He'll make it happen.

Is it possible to use the resort credit for an extra night? Asking because DH is still interested in the Aspire, but I worry about using that resort credit.

This would have been my concern also (in fact it never would have occurred to me) but if @calypso726 says it can be done then I am all ears!

Did I ever tell you how amazing you all are?

What is the best airline card for miles? What about best for other perks? We don’t fly often (haven’t flown in over 4 years) but now we have 2, potentially 3, flights this year (one international). Closest major airports are CLT and ATL. Flying SW to MCO for W&D half but probably can’t get a SW card in time (last chase app was 8/20). Not sure it even matters since the trip is already booked. Do the sapphire cards have any travel perks?

Friendly (early) reminder that Southwest Airlines next schedule release is expected to occur on Thursday September 26th.
  • Currently SW is offering flights through 3/6/20 and this release will take their schedule out to 4/13/20 (covering popular spring break dates)
In my experience, flights typically go “live” between 7am and 9am Eastern. HOWEVER, The last 2 releases actually did not go live on the main search screen until 10:40 and 9:20am Eastern respectively.

I’ll post additional reminders as that date draws closer.
Thanks for the reminder. Of course it just misses my dates. I need to book for April 18. Any idea when the next release will be?

Not the best deal we see around here, but I wonder if there is any value to someone like me who doesn't have ANY AmEx cards?
Maybe this will give me some of the offers y'all talk about, or not because it's a branded card?
Would it hurt my chances of finding a Platicorn (should I ever develop the need for one)?
The reward categories are no better than I have with various existing cards.

ETA I'll be 2/24 next month, so I don't think that's a factor for me

The resort credit will work if the charge comes from the individual hotel. If it's an advance purchase rate, the charge might come from Hilton corporate, then it won't work. What I've read on r/churning is that the U.S. advance purchase rates will be charged by corporate, but not the international ones. No personal experience yet though.

I was getting a new phone every year, but Apple is getting insane with their $1000+ phones. So it’s now been two years for me. The battery is shot. I’m always on my phone though lol. I think I’m getting the new one this year. It looks like Verizon will give us $450 for our old phone and $200 to switch so that will help. I’m still looking out for other deals though.

...not to mention they are still selling phones with 64GB. $1,000 "pro" phones with only 64GB. I love my apple devices, but that is just absurd.

If I cancel the Hilton AMEX Ascend card, do I lose Gold Status immediately? Or if I have a trip a few months later, would I still have it for that trip?

Thanks!
I cancelled my hilton amex biz and my hhonors still shows me as gold. I guess it will change Jan 1.

I canceled my Hilton Biz about 60 days ago and I'm also still gold.

So I had asked for opinions about AofA before I booked it for our recent trip and I wanted to no reply with my thoughts. It seemed like the majority here don't care for it for various reasons. Pop seems very popular everywhere.

My thoughts were....I actually loved the resort theming. It had a great smelling lobby too, which is a Disney thing I guess. I did get really tired of the walk to the LM rooms, so on that point I agree. I thought the food choices in the food court were lame. After the first day, I figured out I needed to be ordering kids meals b/c they came with drinks and sides for less money. The main pool and splash pad were highly entertaining for DD3. She loved the room, of course. I felt very immersed in Disney, which was great! Bus service was great...no issues except some of the stops were so far away. I did think the shower in the room had soap scum or something, but the texture of the tiles was a bad choice for cleanliness. ETA: We had the one night where doors slamming were keeping me up, but that was it. Our noise machine kept it reasonably quiet the rest of the trip.)

Our last night we walked to Pop b/c I hadn't been there in a decade plus and I was hoping for better food choices. Most of the food was the same, so that was unfortunate. I didn't care for the theme of the decor around the resort. I let DD3 swim a bit while we were there (gasp, pool hopped) and she had fun, but the pool is nothing special at all. I guess I'd stay there for $100/night and skyliner access on a short trip, but I wouldn't be excited about it.

Now DME....wth is wrong with that service this year? They consistently want to pick me up 3.5 hours before my flight. I refused to deal this time and we took an uber...alone...and I was so scared the whole time. They guy was super nice, but I just don't trust people. Ha! It cost me about $50 with the carseat fee. We left the resort about 2 hours before the flight and had no one at all ahead of us in the precheck line (as is usual) and there wasn't even anyone in the regular line. I got to the gate and it was a ghost town. We still had an hour to kill sitting there. I don't buy that traffic, long security bull they sell me about DME. They simply cut back and are trying to save money. On 5 trips this year, with 2+ hours at the gate, they can't convince me otherwise.

I can't decide what I want to do about DME for going back to the airport on our trip. Flight is at 8:30... is DME really going to want to pick us up at 5? Is MCO even that crowded that early? Someone chime in if it is. Not everyone has precheck on our trip, but I'd have to get an Uber XL to get us all there.

If I want to pre-pay for our boat ride to the WA Maldives in April how do I do that? I want to ensure that the charge triggers the $250.00 resort credit.

I think @calypso726 has done this before.

Huh. I just checked DW’s Hilton account that had Gold through the Hilton Biz, which I canceled at the end of July, and it’s still showing Gold. I don’t know how long it’ll last.

Complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status through the Platinum card gets yanked almost immediately after cancelation.

Maybe a glitch between Hilton and Amex reporting? Not sure. I thought it was interesting too.
