Riviera Opening Date Change?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i feel like up until recently, in the booking search results on the DVC site, Riviera said "Opening December 16th", or something like that with a date. Recently, it says "Projected Opening Date of December 2019".

Just curious if anyone has any insight into this.

Doubt it opens prior to 12/16/2019. They will probably be open for a "shake down" a few days before, though, and some lucky CMs will get to stay there to "try out" / "test" all the hospitality processes.

That makes sense.

I'm not trying to stay there, i just found it interesting that all of a sudden they changed it from "opening 12/16" to "projected December 2019". I read it as "oops, we shouldn't have put a date out there" lol.

It will open 12/16 come hell or high water. They allowed both points and cash bookings starting that date, and if that were to change it would be an operational nightmare.

That's one of the reasons why it seemed so odd to me that they changed their wording to be something more vague than the exact date they had stated. Could just be a mistake during a site update or something.

I could see them opening sooner for cash only, probably not a whole lot sooner but maybe a week or so. If they can, does anyone really think Disney could pass up on the ability to reap in those extra dollars?

Interns at the wheel.

I once worked for a company that had a product roll-out planned for "late 2004". They launched at 12:50pm on 12-31-2004. The thing that makes it hilarious is that to actually launch it on time in 2004, they had to use the time zone for Anchorage Alaska, instead of the time zone for NY, NY where they were based. That gave them an extra 4 hours...

Hahaha, I love a good technicality!
