Official 2019 HHN-29 Thread

Thank you! Have just bought tickets for tomorrow evening :) Looking forward to reading the reviews so we know which mazes to do too!
and let me know which houses and scare zones were your favorite after you go Saturday
My first night is the end of this month.

Forgot to write it in the San thread, but the Hotel Guest entrance is not to the right hand side anymore.

It’s now over to the Left as you approach the park entrance.......there are signs to show you which way to go.

There was no one else there when we went through that way last night, not sure how it was at park opening.

We did half the park last night. Arrived around 7ish and didn’t feel the park was overcrowded like last year. Still busy though. It did get busier later.

Ghostbusters was a fun house. No big scares but we’ll themed and plenty of scenes you’ll recognise......regular line was 75 minutes but with EP we were in the house in 5 minutes. Would do this one again.

Yeti was an hour wait and again we were only 5 minutes with EP. This house was fun too.....the Yeti’s are going to be incredibly popular......while we were going in Stranger Things the crowd cheered them as they entered and changed shifts with the other group.......haven’t seen that before to the same extent......it wasn’t the freezing cold house predicted, but we really liked it and would do it again. Few good jumps towards the end.

Us was quite eerie.....didn’t get any scares which was fine as it was a good house but will improve I’m sure........50 minute wait and we almost walked in with little to no wait.

Stranger Things had gone from a 90 minute wait to 75 when we went in. This was our longest wait at 15 minutes. Not a big fan of this house, but not really a fan of the show......no real scares for us just a lot of guns going off. Glad we did it but won’t rush to do it again. It had a very sweet aroma as you walked around which wasn’t pleasant.

Killer Klowns was 80 minutes and took us just under 10 minutes to get in. We did like this house but wouldn’t line up for long to see it.

Only did a couple of scare zones, the one near Terminator building was entertaining. I think they’ll all improve massively over the coming nights.

Didn’t do any food last night, but some nice little options.

We left just after 10 (wimps I know) and it was a really good night. We still wouldn’t do it without EP as the lines were fairly long quite early. No idea about the back of the park, we’ll do that over the coming nights.

We saw one girl quite unwell outside a house, someone said she was dehydrated.....not sure how accurate that is but it was hot. Although there was a nice breeze running through...did also see a few kids, didn’t see any pushchairs or strollers although I’m sure we will.

But, looks like another good year.......but hope they up the scare level.

Hello HHN peeps. First night last night and I didn't do any houses cause I was streaming (boo) but walked around the entire park more than once.
Arrived at 5:30pm and was able to get in line in the courtyard past the ticket booths. The opened the gates around 6:10ish, it was incredibly hot. One thing I didn't see was their regular opening day "rush" of characters to the front of the gate, did I miss it or they just didn't do it?
Did a whole lap in the daytime, the back scare zones were not that fun at all imho, my favorites were (sorry forgot the names) the arcade one, the vikings one and Vanity.
It was the busiest I have ever seen a HHN opening night, the tribute store had no crowd control so people just kept going in and it was very hard to actually see anything, it was shoulder to shoulder in there. I'm sure it'll get better this week.
Walked into an empty Diagon Alley around 7pm, not kidding, there were only about 15 people in there, nice break from the crowds.
My son did Universal Monsters during preview and said it was fantastic, his favorite so far, he also did ST and Ghosbusters, so I'm excited to go this week and actually go into the houses

I always find opening week or so a bit off - and the weather did not help.
It really improves as it goes on (as I am sure you know - you are there for a while every year)

I'm assume with all the Rob Zombie stuff it will be a bit "scarier" than in the past - and I have seen some stuff from the Rob Zombie area that seems more like what we used to expect from HHN

We will be there next weekend and really looking forward to returning to the Darkside. Is the Scareactor dining worth it. We have never done this before and debating if it is worth doing or if even early dining would delay early start on houses. We are going with my sister and her husband so not really wanting to miss time on houses since we are not going to spring for express this time. Concerned about getting everything done as it is.

I have done the SA dining 3 times on different years

Food was average and characters there were limited or had longer line waits than I expected

I have no plans to do it ever again

If you do go, make your reservation for the first seating so you won’t lose time in hhn for the houses

We thought the same of the tribute store....we gave up after a while of seeing anything. But we didn’t think it was anywhere near as busy as opening night last year, someone said today they were down several thousand from then. Hotel capacity has been low till today.

I’m looking forward to going back and experiencing more!

Folks were saying today the Graveyard house and Nightingale were scary and we had still to see the best houses. Yes, opening weekend isn’t the pinnacle of the event for sure, but it’s still fun.

I agree with mac.......we did it last year, and never again. Food is like what is served in a cafeteria......we aren’t particularly hard to please, but it was not of a decent standard. Some foods weren’t replenished and we weren’t the last sitting. We were the second lot in.

I’d choose to eat either in Citywalk or eat some of the foods around the park on offer.......much better value.

@yulilin3 or @schumigirl Does the tribute store have the print your own tees again this year? Also, is there an AP HHN shirt this year? I haven't see any pics. Bought and loved the pumpkin one from last year. Thanks

This is what the shirt looks like this year. There's also a pin with the same design.

So, pretty much Stranger Things. Mmhh. I am not sure about that one. I'll have to see what else they have. Thanks

I just want to put up my house anticipation list before I start to look at any pics or videos:

Monsters
Ghostbusters
Depths
Killer Klowns
Stranger Things
Yeti
Graveyard Games

Blood Pit
Us
House of 1000 Corpses

The gap basically means I have pretty high expectations for everything above. I think all those could be tremendous.
