DVC Members cruise Oct 5-12 2019 to Bermuda/Boston!!!

Hey all, just got off the Wonder yesterday from Alaska (even more amazing than our first cruise to Alaska if that's even possible!!) and today in the mail came our luggage tags for this cruise!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

So glad you had a great time!
Tom and I appreciated Alaska more on our second cruise too! Now a friend and I are considering DCL for an inside passage cruise next August, not the MC. I am on the waitlist for that, but my friend and I don’t want to risk not going.
Do you think there’s a better side of the ship to be on for scenery?

If you are looking at Disney, which goes up and back, I don’t think It matters. We had a veranda on the First Alaska MC, looked west on the way up and east on the way back so got to see the scenery on both sides.

However, we did enjoy being on the port side on our glacier day because of the way the ship turned. It turned clockwise, so we had great views of the glacier from our veranda as we made the turn to head back out of Tracy Arm. We would have missed that if we’d been on the starboard side,

Nice to know. Like the MC, this one goes to Dawes Glacier.
No luggage tags here either.

So in 2017 we had a port side room and this year we were starboard (verandah both times). For the inside passage it won't matter because you will see it either way on the way up and back. It makes a difference to a certain extent for the glacier. Our cruise in 2017 was the 'regular' 7 night itinerary and this one we just got off included Icy Strait Point which meant our Juneau day was cut in half (6:30am to 12:30pm) and we didn't start our passage up Endicott Arm til well after 2:30; this meant we didn't get NEARLY as close to the glacier as we did in 2017!! Very disappointed in that!!! We made our feelings known to the CD as did several others in our cruise group (who we cruised with in 2017). So as long as you have a full glacier day it should be good either side of the ship ;-) (though I have to say I think starboard had a bit more viewing time than port side did in 2017, I'd say Starboard had close to an hour in front while we had more like 45 minutes once it turned to port side)

Glad to hear some people don't have their luggage tags yet. I was getting worried. If you need more info about Salem, I have it. I just wasn't being allowed to add more.

Hey folks.
DW and I are on the following cruise, Oct 12th NYC<=>Bermuda, and no one is on the board . . . Was it something I said?

I used to go to Bermuda quite often when I was younger (not since late 1990's), and we live near (and for 7 years, used to commute to/from) NYCity so I am familiar with getting around both places. It will be very new for us to NOT have to fly in to a Port city the night before.

What is a (DVC) "Member Cruise"? I am guessing you get to use your home resort points on a DCL stateroom, but can't you do do that on all Disney Cruises? Will any non-DVC'ers be allowed on board? Will there be any special events or gatherings!?

I hope you have a great time, and let me know if you have any questions or new experiences. This our first time doing a GTY booking (really attractive rate!), but since they will assign us a stateroom only after they sell as many of the non-reserved staterooms as they can, we may not get our luggage tags until after we board!?

We love DCL!

A DVC MC is booked exclusively by DVC members and their guests. Moreover, if you are not eligible for a Membership Card because you only own restricted points you cannot book a place on the MC even with cash.

We do not have to use points for the cruise.

This year there were two MC’s, the first was in May and it was a West Coast Cruise, San Diego to Vancouver Canada. This is the second.

Next year there is only one, an Alaska Cruise and it sold out in hours!

There are special Disney presenters, special entertainment and gifts. It seems to be similar to the D 23 conventions. We have had movies presented before their released times, namely Christopher Robin and Born in China.

Enjoy your Bermuda cruise! We are really looking forward to ours!

Got our luggage tags yesterday wooohoooo.

If this has been answered or discusses I apologize. We have not been on a disney cruise in awhile $$$

Has anyone heard about the following topics?
Is there a formal night? (we will probably dress up anyway)
Is there a pirate night or just a villain night?
Is there a show the night we stay overnight in bermuda?

Any info is greatly appreciated

I’ve not yet received my booklet and luggage tags, so can’t remember If some of this might be answered there.

There should at least be a semi-formal night, and on the 7-night Alaska MC in 2015 we had both formal and semi-formal nights.

We’ve had Pirates night on other MCs ( except Alaska) but I’ve not been on a Halloween cruise to know if anything Halloween bumps pirates.

Looking At some 2018 Navigators from other NYC cruises that overnighted in Bermuda, the 5-night a show on the Bermuda night and the 6-night had a special movie showing on the Bermuda night,

OK! I have sent a conversation with the information for the Local Candy/Snack Exchange!

Please tell me if you did receive it, and please tell me if there are any corrections!

Have a fun time sharing good treats!

Was originally given early dinning. Debated it as we have always done late dinning. Called DVC and they switched us to late dinning without batting an eye. Seeing several categories still available so does not look like cruise is full a month out. My DW is searching for door decoration ideas. I used to have a great link to door magnet ideas but since pinterest started now everyone charges for them. Went back to my old link and it linked me to pinterest and etsy :(

My DH did this for us!

I will not have this on the MC, I am going with friends, not DH.
I am glad they were able to change your dining!

I guess DCL doesn't mail the "booklet" anymore. We got an "envelope" with our luggage tags. I don't want DVC/DCL to give out all the secrets of this cruise but some info would be nice. lol My DW wants to go shopping for stuff to wear on the ship; "do we get costumes" do i need to pack the pirate stuff..... she is a mess lol. We are going to Palo for dinner and have gone before so we bring our dress-up clothes anyway. I'm good in pants and polo shirt but thinking she wants to dress up more. Gonna be a fun but maybe long month if she doesn't get some answers. I see there is trick or treating, villains night etc. Honestly I enjoyed the DVC cruise on the wonder and meeting the "disney" people, the shows the presentations, the movie premier (secretariat) etc. Hoping its more DVC than halloween actually.
