Official 2019 HHN-29 Thread

Public tours are maybe 3.5 to 4 hours
The park is open until 2 am Monday
You’ll have time to do the rides (6 of them) before the park closes

You posted your tour is Sunday September 22

Do some rides before the tour and the rest after the tour if you are interested in the rides
Thanks. Mine is actually Wednesday, September 25th, but I understand the same information applies.

The one year we did an RIP tour was the last year there were two shows. The tour included one of the two shows (Bill and Teds but not Academy of Villains). I wonder if that will be the same this year, since there are two shows again. I imagine so, since the second show is a water fountain show. Anyone know for sure?

I saw on Twitter that Mike Aiello announced that he received a promotion to lead some entertainment in the new park. I believe he has been a huge part in the growth and great HHN experiences over the years. I hope his successor(s) will keep HHN going at such a high level.

Yes
It’s AOV and the water show

I keep hoping for Bill and Ted to be brought back.....
It was the highlight for me each year...

I totally agree that Mike A brought hhn to a higher level each year

He did an awesome job!

Watching youtube (so no pics) but it looks like lots of the signage for HHN is up, including the Starcourt Mall Food Court. The offerings look to be:
-Desserts
-Hawkins Heroes
-Ole Amigo
-Imperial Panda

Sounds like a decent selection and took names straight from the background signs from the show. Weird to not see Scoops Ahoy and just see Desserts. Maybe its a Merchandise marketing thing and they could not use the name? Or maybe Scoops will be in Cabana bay since they teased something but have not annouced what it is?

Just finished Season 3 yesterday and craving an Orange Julius! How cool if that could have been one of the Starcourt places? Nothing says '80s like Orange Julius. I bet those lines would be the longest for us boomers and Gen X folks.

Especially if they added vodka to it

I think Baskin Robins has some sort of deal with the Scoops Ahoy theme - I saw a commercial for Baskin Robins with the USS Butterscotch and the two actors from ST

oh heck ya! Dh and I both worked in a mall in college-OJ was across from his store and he LOVED those things. He isn't coming with me and DD to HHN, and is ok with us going to Disney to GE (he's a huge SW fan and has collectibles from his childhood), but I think it might be grounds for divorce if we had the original orange julius :rotfl2:

Ok I like the way you think...maybe as one of the signature drinks of the event??

omg...I'm literally drooling at the thought of a vodka-laced OJ as a signature drink - or even just a virgin OJ. Can someone with some serious UO street cred float this past the right folks- Schumigirl - are you out there? lol :drinking:

All right all right all right.

D23 trip is over.

Time to jump into the HHN trip.

Will be attending Sept 29-Oct 6. Should give us a good 5 HHNs.

Will be staying at Cabana Bay and Royal Pacific. Cabana Bay time will be focused on HHN and Volcano Bay, and RP will be focused on rides and HHN.

In preparation, we have already watched:
Ghostbusters
The Mummy (original)
The Wolfman (orginal)
Seasons 2/3 of Stranger Things

Still have to go:
Original Dracula, Frankenstein, Invisible Man and Creature from the Black Lagoon
Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Zombieland
Us

Not watching House of a 1000 Corpses. Have heard it's more torture porn type and I have no interest in those types of movies.

I am starting to get very excited! I think I might want a lot of merch from this year's event. Love the style.

Hey, our dates match!

Want to do a short, "Hi, how are you" sometime during your trip?"

Question for the RIP Tour experts regarding tipping. This will be my first HHN so I've booked a private tour for our group. Is it customary to tip the tour guide? If so, how much? Thanks in advance!

Tours are a tipped position
I tip 20% on public tours
More on the private tours

I know some people tip 15% to 20% per person

Since private tours are in the name of the person that books and pays for that tour,
You can have all give you their tip money and you give it to the tour guide or ask all in the group to tip when they leave the tour

I have had tours where peeps do not stay until 2:00 am when the tour is over

Is anyone else trying to watch all the IP movies/tv before they go? Anyone find any new favorites?

I'm really enjoying the classic monster movies.

I had watched all the IP except Killer Klowns and 1000 Corpses. No interest to watch 1000 Corpses.

Did watch Killer Klown recently. It was bad. Not even really fun bad. But MST3K/Rifftrax bad.

Not to say there are not parts and sets that would not make for a good maze but the movie itself is not scary or funny.

We’ve watched most except zombie land and 1000 corpses. My dd and I did a binge watch of the classic monsters this summer- she’s so excited for that house!

Hah, I actually thought Killer Klowns was funny. But I would like to hear a rifftrax on it.

I am very excited for it too. While we are watching the classic monsters we keep pointing out scenes that would work for the house.

Zombieland is a comedy set in a zombie apocalypse. My family really like it, but I should say that it is a Rated R comedy-horror for a reason. There is a lot of language and gore. It's not scary, though. If you think you'll like that, I highly recommend it.
