Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

There are a couple of options for purchasing water at the resort- small cases as has been mentioned, or you can purchase a gallon of water and fill reusable water bottles to bring to the parks.

I haven't used any of the many grocery services available, but you can find lots of info in the Grocery Delivery FAQ post:

Thank you! The gallons will probably work for us. Does anyone know the cost of a gallon of water from the store in BC (sorry I don't know the name)?

I believe it is around $2.95 per gallon. Keep in mind that you can refill water bottles for free at either the YC or BC market's Coke Freestyle machines.

Thanks! We'll try to refill but my wife is funny about the 'taste' of her water so if she doesn't like it I'll need a backup. We'll probably get a couple gallons for in the room and then try that and if it doesn't meet her expectations then we can always buy more.

Thanks for the pictures! So do you know if part of the arcade will be closed during the Beaches & Cream renovation, or is the whole place likely to be inaccessible during the work?
Re: Lafferty Place Arcade

When I was there, about one week ago, a good portion of the Arcade was still open for business. I can't speak to the state of the Arcade, since B&C shut down for the refurb project. The door to the left of the Arcade's sign was being used for access, at that time.

We just got back last week from our usual August stay. We were at Art of Animation, but booked a BB to return to the Beach Club next August!!!! Last time we stayed at BC, I was pregnant with our DS, and for next years' stay he will be 5!!!! Time flies, but I am excited for him to stay at BC (outside of the womb, lol). I think he will love SAB for sure. Our girls are excited about the return as well! :yay:
Glad you had a good time! Was your BB for Free Dining or a room discount? I ask because I called, based on the BB left in our room for a discount but was told that at this time the only BBs were for FD. We checked out of BC yesterday BTW.

To people staying at Beach Club Villas (or any DVC property at Disney World):

There has been a change of policy. You can now get extra towels and extra coffee and coffee supplies (1 package of coffee, 8 sugars, 8 creamers, 8 artificial sweeteners) for free. If you are staying in a 1-bedroom unit or larger, you can now get extra 1-load boxes of laundry detergent for free. In the past, if you were staying on points and you requested these things, you were supposed to have to pay for them, although Disney had been inconsistent as to whether or not you actually were charged.

I started a thread on the DVC Mouscellaneous Board. If you want to comment about this specific issue, you probably should do so in that thread, so this YC/BC thread doesn't get filled by this issue.

Here is the text of what it says on the DVC Member website:

We made reservations for this weekend (this morning)because of the storm. As far as I know, I still have to work this weekend (in sight of EPCOT), but wanted my family to be closer to work so we wouldn’t get separated by the storm. [I’m cautious about the storm, especially with the newer (stronger) forecast. But I’m not panicked yet. The panic will occur when meteorologist Tom Terry of Channel 9 removes his coat and tie AND rolls up his sleeves. Then I’ll know it’s serious.] I’ll keep a lookout for you, if nothing else, just to say hi!

Anyone up for a hurricane party at the beach club this weekend? 😂
The original plan was to do Hollywood studios on Saturday & magic kingdom on Sunday but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen.

:welcome: to the thread!

I hope the guest of "honor" Dorian decides to be a no-show for your party.

I tried to do search on past hurricanes and how they were handled at the resort. Some comments from the two day shutdown due to Hurricane Irma in Sept 2017 appear on pages 1030 or thereabouts on the thread. I did a search on "hurricane", but had to skip a lot of posts on Hurricane Hanna's.

That may have marked the beginning of unfurling the welcome mat for dogs at the resort. Disney and other hotels in the area were allowing guests to check in with their pets so they didn't have to leave them behind when they left their homes.

Incidentally, Hurricane Irma marked the first time a Disney cruise was cancelled due to weather- it was supposed to my inaugural Disney cruise, so I had to wait a few weeks before I could check that one off my list.

🛳

I wish everyone well who may experience the storm's wrath and hope it's not too bad.

I do recall there being long lines for food, during the last weather event. I think there were primarily sandwiches of white bread and cold cuts. It may not be a bad idea to be proactive and stock up on a few things for the weekend, just in case.

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge this week and had a nice stroll from DHS to Epcot, cutting through the BWI clown pool. We waved at BC as we walked past. :) There is a bag check at the International Gateway for people walking in from resort area. And there is a separate bag check for people coming off the boat. They currently have the same two touch post entrances that they had before, but behind the construction wall will be a much bigger park entry area for the International Gateway. It is exciting to think that when we return in October this will all be finished. :)

We are scheduled to fly home on Saturday so I think we will be ahead of the storm.

Thanks. Me too!! I will be sure to report back how things go. Hopefully it will just Ben a little rain.

We check into YC on Sunday now, after shuffling plane and hotel reservations to get to WDW before Dorian does. I’d rather be stuck in a Disney hotel room watching movies than stressing about a shortened trip and wondering what flight I’d be rebooked on. This way, we’re there and can roll with the weather as it comes...

Haha. Me too. I’m really not that worried about it. We arrive Friday morning and am just happy we don’t have to worry about the flight getting cancelled.
Will do a small grocery/liquor store run to make sure we have snacks & cocktails.. 😊
