Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

Am I remembering correctly that you had once said that even the preferred buildings all have multiple King rooms?

There is no such thing as a Preferred building. Only rooms can be categorized as Preferred. Every building in Martinique and Barbados will have Preferred, King and Water View rooms.

I ask because when I look on Touring Plans it shows none in buildings 24 and 32, just one in building 25, one in building 26, 2 in building 31, and 22 in building 33? Just wondering if that is really accurate?

That tool is extremely inaccurate when it comes to room types and amenities. There are 8 kings in every building except Trinidad.

There is a bus stop at every village. Preferred does nothing to get you closer to a bus. Also preferred is not close to the skyliner from most (if not all) standard rooms to either stop (riviera or CBR). If close to transportation is key you are probably paying for an upgrade you don’t need. But that’s jmo.

Preferred does put you closer to the main pool and main feature areas than most other rooms and not every bus stop is the same based on the order of pickups.
I realize that every village has a bus stop. :) I was also mistaken, we have a standard view, so based on the fact that the skyliner is not an option for us, unless they do soft openings, I guess we'll be happy with whatever room we get. Thanks.

Surprised they would take out that much room capacity for a DVC that could have gone somewhere else. Looking at when we are going end of February CBR has no vacancy except pirate rooms. I suppose they wanted to tie everything in to the skyliner.

Ok another question regarding preferred rooms - so if I have a preferred room, it means you don't have a chance of getting a water view?

Gotta admit, pretty sad about the Skyliner not being open for our 9/13-22 trip. Really thought it would be timed to open for SWGE, but apparently not. Had to go back and revamp some of our plans a bit. One can certainly hope for some soft openings, but now I'm also questioning my room request choices. I've booked a Preferred with a 5th sleeper and want to be close to the buses. Don't need the pool or the Food Court so transportation is our main thing. Thoughts now? I'm torn because I am still holding out hope we'll be blessed with getting on it for some trips into EPCOT so want to be near the Riviera Station, but that might put us further away from a bus stop.
Rumor is the section to DHS will be open for the opening of Star Wars GE. I have no idea if the Riveira Station will open prior to the resort opening.

That would be great! We are there a few weeks later (and leave the day before the grand opening for the Skyliner) and would love to have at least part of it running to use!

There are 5th Sleeper rooms that connect to a King room or a room with 2 Queens only.

See, this is what I thought! When I first set up my two room reservation, I reserved a King and a 5th sleeper. The last time I made a modification I got chewed out by CM for having a reservation for two different categories of rooms. She said that I should not have been able to make that reservation. She also said there were no connecting 5th sleeper and King rooms.

I wish they could get on the same page.

I hear ya.

In my experience if you are being extra quiet after hours at the quiet pools nobody is going to say anything. Unless you're a strict no rule breaker, just be very respectful to it being after hours and you're fine.

I haven't experienced it, but the worst they will do is point out the hours to you, and then ask you to finally get out if you're not taking the hint and they really want you to get out.

Officially quiet pools are 7-11 but we heard people in there much later.

The main pool is 9-11.

Just back from a two week stay at CBR and wanted to post a quick review in here. This is our 4th or 5th stay at the resort in the last 10 years or so, and as always, overall, it did not disappoint.

We had a fantastic vacation and really enjoyed the time we spent at the resort. Already booked a free dining bounce back for the same time frame next year so that pretty much sums ups how happy we were overall.

I wanted to note, as we drive down, that I was SHOCKED to be "gifted" with free parking. I was expecting to pay the $19 per night of course, but went up to the front desk on our second day as I had a question on room charges. I asked the girl why the parking was broken down and included an "orange" fee? I had parked at Disney Springs, Orange Garage, the previous night, and was wondering if there was some sort of charge for that now. She explained it was the Orange County tax, and all I said was oh, now I feel stupid, lol. She then proceeded to apologize and said as this was the first year they are charging for parking as a courtesy she would be removing the parking fee for my entire stay. I thanked her tremendously and was very, very pleased with that level of concern\service. (And yes , I was very, very pleasant when inquiring about the garage\orange thing).

The good:
- Room was in Jamaica 43 - we paid for a standard room and were given a garden\courtyard view.
- Room was in great shape and close to the parking lot - we drive.
- Resort staff, life guards, everyone was quite pleasant.
- LOVING the newly redone areas.
- Construction was a total none issue - God I wish the Skyliner would have been opened though, lol. My wife and I joked we will never being able to get Jamaica 43 again as it's a quick walk to the Skyliner, lol.
- Food court - meh, we only ate there twice and it was OK. No complaints really, but then again, we aren't really food court people and prefer to eat in the parks or other restaurants.
- While we opted out of room service, we were attended too very quickly if and when we phoned for anything. About mid trip, I asked one of the maids outside if I could get something to clean the toilet with as a ring was forming in it. She wound up coming back after we were gone and cleaned the entire room. I saw her the next day and gave her a $10 tip. Very pleasant woman.

The bad:
- Bus service - absolutely horrible. This is probably my only complaint with the resort. We drive most places, but did take the bus to MK as usual and used it for some mid day trips back to the resort leaving the car at the parks. Each and every single time we waited at least 30 minutes for the bus. At times, longer. Return trips from MK were HORRIBLE to say the least. Sometimes waiting well over an hour for a bus due to the sheer number of people in the cattle stalls. I have never had this bad a service from the busses, even during previous stays, including at POP. Our last day at MK, we opted to drive there too and even with parking at TTC and taking a boat or monorail over to MK, it was 10x quick than the bus system.

Anyway, really looking forward to getting back next year, and REALLY looking forward to be able to try out the Skyliners. Definitely requesting Jamaica again due to it's proximity to those as well as the fairly nice\quick walk to the pool area.

I have 2 options showing in online check in, Martinique and corner room..which is better? We have a standard 5th sleeper, will be driving.

Wait, they are charging for parking at DTD now?

There are no Standard Rooms in Martinique so that would be a waste of a request. In my opinion, I would not make any requests Online and call in your requests. Are favorite locations for Standard Rooms are Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51. We also like the 2nd floor. So are requests are always "Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51 and 2nd floor please".

No, they are not. OP was confused by a line item charge on their resort folio and thought maybe they were charged for parking at Disney Springs because they had parked there the day before. But that's not what the charge was as it was an Orange County Tax.

New fireworks show for MNSSHP, anybody at CBR to see them? I'm terrible at spoiling things for myself so I'll be watching YouTube videos of the show sooner than later.

Wait, they are charging for parking at DTD now?
No they are not charging to park at DS. My confusion was that I had parked at the orange garage and saw a charge for “orange” on my room charges, lol.

Glad I asked about it though as it saved me $240 in resort parking fees!
