So the GCM visas at metas and won't work with serve? I feel like we need one of those charts for all this....
is your GC a visa? Follow the yes arrow or no to the next box...

The GCM visas are meta and they work with serve. They work with anything. I use them to get MOs though because they look like a real debit card.

We live in Sioux City, Iowa..our local airport prices are terrible, but always fly out of Omaha (southwest) or Sioux Falls...but either is only an hour and half from us.
Yeah you’re on the opposite side of the state lol. We prefer Cedar Rapids because it’s only an hour from where we need to go. We’ve done Des Moines before but southwest doesn’t have nonstop to Des Moines

...FYI – in case anyone is wondering why 3 adults need EBCI, my uncle is developmentally delayed, and my mom feels more comfortable always getting EBCI. I was only going to purchase it for the return flight and take my chances on the flight out, but I booked as RT and didn’t see a way to just do it on the return. I have wondered if my mom could request to pre-board with him but he doesn’t really appear to be special needs so not sure if they’d give her a hard time about it.
2 Thoughts here - you totally don't have to explain yourself. If 3 adults want EBCI, who am I to judge??? My dad always buys EBCI for him and my mom. He has the money and that's what he chooses to do :)

I also think you could probably pre-board. From what I know, they won't deny anybody that right if they have a reasonable request. I've had people tell me that my wife's severe flight anxiety would be eligible - I've never done it but many have said they'd allow it.

Well Dh called and booked our Christmas flights! I found online that you can call chase and book allegiant flights that way. We were looking at $720ish paying cash but used dh’s CSR instead. It was only 49k points! That includes bags and seats and the seats are a lot better than what we would’ve picked paying cash. We got row 4 on the way there and 5 on the way back.

I’m so happy that we were able to get flights and now don’t have to worry about it. We’ll be flying dec 20-30 so we’ll have lots of time with family.

Anybody here see the news of this strange new “Midday” Disney World ticket?

https://blogmickey.com/2019/08/mid-day-magic-ticket-now-available-for-walt-disney-world-theme-parks/
(Lots of news sources out there - I just happened to pick that one).

I get what it is but it just seems odd to me LOL.
[/Q

This is something I would DEFINITELY use. Coming from the west coast we struggle to get to an 11 am FP before the grace period runs out. Vacation, for us, is not getting up at 3 am (our time) in order to line up for rope drop. Unfortunately, Disney has pissed DH off and priced us out so I don't know if we will ever be back to WDW. 😢 It was a battle getting him to even agree to adding on a couple days to an existing vacation in California to visit DLR this fall.

I just learned something new. I wasn't sure if I had overlooked it before, so thought I would share in case.

I had $1000 plastiq FFD that were going to expire in 15 days. I don't have alot of bills each month I can send through plastiq, unless I split my mortgage and send the amount with FFD from there and the rest from my bank. That seems like it isn't worth it. So I went ahead and sent preschool tuition and hoa. I then decided to see if I schedule another payment for the next month tuition, would it let me apply the FFD, even though they'd expire before then. It worked! It applied them just fine for a payment set to arrive by 9/30 even though they expire on 8/30. Just a little plastiq tip in case someone didn't realize this works.

Once you used some FFDs, that extended your expiration date for your remaining FFDs another 90 days. It's part of their terms.

426055

Strategically, one could pay a small bill every 90 days to keep their FFDs alive and well.

Correct. They have minor differences (12hr delay vs 6hr, for example), but the insurances are pretty identical.

Here are the PDFs of the benefits:
CSP
CSR

Yes, it would have covered him. For just a couple cheap meals ($20?) for a young adult though, it wouldn't be worth the effort to make the claim. So no loss.

Honestly, as nice as the trip delay insurance is. It's there for one reason: to make life not as miserable and not take on a financial burden for unexpected surprises. But after your bags are packed and your boarding pass is printed, 99.9% of us would rather be home. A "free night at Disney" sounds great in theory, but it's just "ok" IMO. Simply because you do have to do work for an hour+ on the phone rescheduling and then on the backend as well to receive your claim.
It's good to have, but I wouldn't be 'wishing' it happened to me.

Same. I had 3 delays w/ SW in May and June alone. One was a cancellation and two were 4-6hrs. Very, very abnormal for them. Two of mine were mechanical though, due to the strikes.

Small tease: I'm writing up my "Adventures Like Disney by Andy" trip report from Banff that copied ABD's Canadian Rockies tour almost to the T. All points- I think we were out $200 when all was said and done (sans rent-car and airline fees).

Can you post a link for us when you get your report done?

Thanks, I'll check it out when I have time. We leave tomorrow night after work for AP preview and have to pack and do some other things tonight.

If anyone remembers, we couldn't do both the preview and Labor Day weekend? Well, we are lol. My husband has to call out on Saturday so we're keeping it very quiet. Flying in late tomorrow, 2 nights at swan on Priceline express deal, flying home Sunday 6pm. Gonna be a whirlwind! Couldn't do it without this thread!
Yay! Pretty sure I was a bad influence at the time since we are doing both :D

That's really nice that you could call in and use points for bags/seats then!

We’re at the very packed Centurion lounge at PHL. Like a zillion people here. We had an issue with our new big suitcase when leaving home... DH screwed up the TSA lock and we spent 30 minutes picking it. So we left late and had to zoom an hour to the airport - stressful! Still have to sit here another two hours before boarding but now things feel smooth. The food and wine at this lounge is decent, better than LAS for sure.
Have a great time :banana::boat:

Also, I'm pretty sure that they are not allowed to ask about his developmental disability. And if they denied it, they'd get a chance to make the news.

I'm happy for you that you made the decision and got it done. You can check it out in a couple months and see the much higher prices!

Will this be in the Trip Report board or where can we find it? I'd love to read it, Banff is one of the few places that my oldest DD wants to go to.
Can you post a link for us when you get your report done?

Totally. I’ll post it Sunday and link it up here.

Can I take a moment to vent just a smidge on young Adults in Banff?

There were a decent amount of young people and older people. Not a lot of families, actually. Old people did their old people sightseeing thing. Young adults, for the most part, hiked harder hikes and did their young adult thing.

But now for my vent- The enormous increase in popularity for Banff is certainly in part to social media and instagram. Those pictures are just to die for.
But watching a handful of young girls (maybe 10%? Which is a scary number) get their “sit here on this rock and reflect” pictures, to then instantly stand up and take a pic of their friends doing the exact same thing; became a teaching tool for me with my oldest daughter.

Being able to point out people who intentionally pose for a picture and intentionally projecting this image they want people to view them as instead of being true to yourself.
If you envy or desire the ability to just sit and reflect, and that’s the image you want to convey, you know you can actually.... sit and reflect, right? As in actually do it?
If you don’t want to, then why are you projecting something you aren’t?
Either A) you want to be that person and have the ability to be but don’t or B) you want others to think you’re someone you aren’t. Neither is ideal or enviable.

Anyway, rant over and get off my lawn! :)

Thanks for sharing. I paid our HOA fees and two weeks after the delivery date, it still hadn't shown up. I chatted with them to cancel and the cancellation reset the clock to 90 days as well. I haven't had the best luck with Plastiq and I have lots of FFDs to spend!

@speedyfishy and @Andysol I like the way y’all think 😂 Unfortunately we didn’t book with those cards (will from now on though!) so we don’t have those travel protections. I probably used a CIP. Either way, SW is getting us on an earlier flight ( 2-hr layover in MSY now). We bolted for the airport and made it here in time. Bummer for our last day but what can you do?!? Got kicked out of Disney early last time too due to a hurricane!
CIP has travel coverage as well. I don't think it is as good as CSR but it does cover you and immediate family. And, at least in my case, you didn't have to prove any type of business travel. Covered me and my daughter a year ago.

So this gem just happened on r/churning:
Cashback with GoFundMe (self.churning)

So if I have a credit card that gets cash back, and I create a go fund me for myself, can I max my card on the go fund me, deposit money from my GFM to my bank account, pay off the card, and now have the same amount plus my cash back. Please poke holes in this strategy
It was removed but uhhhh wow! HAHA!
